Job Description
The EVS Tech Lead position reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Leads team members by demonstrating and providing advanced knowledge of job responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
Assists Manager in maintaining a high-quality standard by keeping him/her informed on the condition of assigned areas and by training, supervising and motivating the Environmental Services personnel to be sure all schedules are completed.
This position will also serve as backup to the Supervisor of EVS in the Supervisors absence.
Lead Responsibilities:
Accepts responsibility to a limited area, shift or tasks assigned.
Continuously checks assigned areas to be sure work is being done properly and that personnel are following assigned work schedules. (When Supervisor not present).
Reports any pertinent information to the Supervisor as it occurs.
Instills a service-minded approach to all task performed by Environmental Services staff by demonstrating a personal enthusiasm and team spirit.
Motivates staff by communicating areas done well and areas requiring improvement.
Assists with training of Environmental Service personal as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Assures staff are inspecting equipment for proper operation daily and reporting equipment in need of repair.
Maintains good public relations with all patients, facility and staff personnel. Answer day to day questions as they arise and pertain to general housekeeping.
If working the PM Shift, leaves notes in operation log for Supervisor to review ie, project work completed, work not completed or any unusual occurrences for the evening.
Laundry/ Linen:
Demonstrates proper infection control procedures when collecting soiled linen.
Maintains an adequate amount of sanitized linen in the linen room ad closets on patient units. Delivers under-pads and laundry bags to the floors as required.
Communicates with Superior laundry staff to adjust par levels as required.
Washes hospital owned dust mops.
Housekeeping/Technical Skills:
Working knowledge of carpet shampoo extractor, rotating shampooer, auto floor scrubber, wet/dry machine.
Operation of equipment as well as procedures involved in using them.
Infection control practices with regards to cleaning patient's rooms and hospital. Project management as it relates to floor care.
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
High School Diploma or GED or a minimum of 5 years work experience in a hospital in lieu of the diploma or GED.
Minimum of three years of EVS experience or working within a lead role with in a healthcare setting
Extensive knowledge of housekeeping techniques in a healthcare environment with specific emphasis on floor care maintenance.
Performs tasks which involve exposure to blood and body fluids
Equipment Operated, Carpet extractors, rotary floor machines, auto floor scrubbers, a/c and battery powered floor polishers and wet/dry vacuums, soiled/clean linen carts.
Physically demanding job. Working Conditions: Works with a variety of day-to-day chemicals used in the cleaning, sanitizing and disinfection of various areas throughout the hospital. May be responsible for collection of bio-hazardous waste. Uses a variety of heavy-duty floor care equipment used to maintain carpeted and hard surfaces areas

Physical demands required for this role include lift/carry up to 50 pounds and a push/pull force up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities:
* Records and posts rhythm strips for every patient on telemetry or as needed for dysrhythmias; measures heart rate, PR, QRS and QT at intervals, interprets and documents rhythm.
* Adjusts monitoring parameters to maximize rhythm identification.
* Labels the patient telemetry monitor when patient is off the unit for a test or procedure; indicates specific treatments related to cardiac monitoring.
* Prints and interprets rhythm strips, and places in the patient chart.
* Responds to alarms promptly; informs the registered nurse of any significant changes noted in the patient's cardiac rhythm or pulse oximetry reading.
* Records all admissions, discharges and transfers of patients from central station.
* Initiates and discontinues patients for telemetry monitoring per order.
* Informs the PCT or RN of monitoring disturbances such as lead disconnect, artifact, electrical interference, etc.
* Notifies biomedical department of any transmission problems or needed repairs identified on the cardiac monitoring system.
* Enters daily charges for telemetry and SPO2.
* Serves as a resource to staff and students regarding interpretation of dysrhythmias and function of monitoring equipment.
* Cleans monitors upon discontinuation of patient from the unit.

Job Description
Night shift: 7:00 PM-7:30 AM
The Monitor Tech reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities:
Records and posts rhythm strips for every patient on telemetry or as needed for dysrhythmias; measures heart rate, PR, QRS and QT at intervals, interprets and documents rhythm.
Adjusts monitoring parameters to maximize rhythm identification.
Labels the patient telemetry monitor when patient is off the unit for a test or procedure; indicates specific treatments related to cardiac monitoring.
Prints and interprets rhythm strips, and places in the patient chart.
Responds to alarms promptly; informs the registered nurse of any significant changes noted in the patient's cardiac rhythm or pulse oximetry reading.
Records all admissions, discharges and transfers of patients from central station.
Initiates and discontinues patients for telemetry monitoring per order.
Informs the PCT or RN of monitoring disturbances such as lead disconnect, artifact, electrical interference, etc.
Notifies biomedical department of any transmission problems or needed repairs identified on the cardiac monitoring system.
Enters daily charges for telemetry and SPO2.
Serves as a resource to staff and students regarding interpretation of dysrhythmias and function of monitoring equipment.
Cleans monitors upon discontinuation of patient from the unit.

One to two years of related work experience

* Prepares, educates, and orients patients about Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. This includes lifting or transferring patients per policy, getting them ready for treatment administration, and answering their questions.
* Administers the hyperbaric oxygen therapy as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Provider to the patient. This includes monitoring and controlling the performance of the hyperbaric chamber equipment, monitoring the patient(s)'responses during the session, and making proper adjustments to ensure the patient's safety and the safe and effective use of the equipment.
* Makes appropriate data entries for daily hyperbaric treatments and wound care clinic visits and keeps complete and accurate patient records, including photo uploads, as they pertain to treatment documentation.

Responsibilities:
Cleans and maintains patient rooms, offices, public areas, treatment rooms, and other assigned areas daily, including collecting and removing trash, changing bed linens, and sanitizing all surfaces.
Follows policies and procedures on patient isolation and contact precautions as necessary.
Stocks paper items and other supplies in assigned areas as necessary or designated.

Description
The EVS Tech II reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities:
* Cleans and maintains patient rooms, offices, public areas, treatment rooms, and other assigned areas daily, including collecting and removing trash, changing bed linens, and sanitizing all surfaces.
* Follows policies and procedures on patient isolation and contact precautions as necessary.
* Stocks paper items and other supplies in assigned areas as necessary or designated.
* Maintains cart and equipment in clean, working condition and stores in appropriate storage area
* Promotes safety in the workplace. Uses wet floor signs, PPE, not leaving housekeeping cart or supplies unattended.
* Uses chemicals and equipment in an effective and safe manner. Uses appropriate chemicals, diluted at the correct ratio, in properly labeled containers.
* Notifies supervisor of equipment needing repairs. Reports all safety hazards to manager.
* Communicates to supervisor any issues, including inability to complete schedule and is proactive in dealing with observed deficiencies (reports issues/work requests to supervisor/manager or Call Center, picks up debris outside of regular work area)
* Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationship with hospital personnel, while assuring confidentiality of patient information.
* Exhibits the ability to articulate designed scripting model to each customer we serve
* Uses organizational and unit/department resources efficiently.
* Manages work schedule efficiently, completing tasks and assignments on time.
* Contributes to opportunities and processes for continuous improvement.
* Participates in efforts to reduce costs, streamline work processes, improve and grow services we provide.
* Presents a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor and appearance.

This position is full-time, 80 hours per pay period, evening shift, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. with alternating weekends and holidays.

* Must exhibit the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
* Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and staff.
* Must be able to use the proper tracking and communication tools utilized by department.
* Must be able to work independently.
* Physical Demands: Requirement:
* Physical demands required for this role include lift/carry up to 50 pounds and a push/pull force up to 50 pounds
Preferred:
* One to three years of environmental services experience in a healthcare or hospitality environment.
