ABOUT THE ROLE As an Afterschool Counselor you will play a crucial role in assisting with the supervision of participants in our after-school program, ranging from kindergarten to 8th grade. You'll help lead activities that contribute to the academic and social growth of children by fostering a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment. Utilizing a variety of resources provided by the Program Coordinator, you'll introduce new skills and enhance learning experiences throughout the activities. We're looking for individuals who demonstrate the competencies, skills, and leadership abilities to effectively support the YMCA's mission of community service and enrichment. Location: Varies, Buncombe County School District Hours: M-F, 2-6 p.m., Up to 20 hours/week ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Ensures the safety and engagement of all children in their assigned group, creating a secure and enjoyable environment for every child. Maintains open and ongoing communication with their supervisor, ensuring the best support and resources for the program participants. Keeps accurate classroom records as assigned, ensuring compliance with program standards while respecting each child's privacy and achievements. Communicates effectively with parents, actively participating in designated parent and family events to strengthen partnerships and support each child's development. Models inclusive behaviors and embraces all dimensions of diversity, fostering an environment where every child feels valued and respected. Adheres to all required policies of the YMCA of Western North Carolina, the state, and federal regulations. ABOUT YOU Qualifications Must be at least 16 years of age or older. Previous experience working with children or teens preferred, but not required. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. Specific certifications and/or training may be required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor education, planning and organizing activities, crafts, songs/music, skits, sports, recreational games, etc. Exceptional group management, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills. Must possess oral, auditory, and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with children and adults. Flexible, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances. Multi-lingual desired, but not required. Job Description Stockers are to receive, price, sensor (if applicable) and inspect freight. Stockers must be proficient in all aspects of the Cavender's Boot City stocking system, and knowledgeable of all paperwork associated with each stocking function. Stockers must prioritize merchandise by order of importance (i.e., empty wrangler shelves should be restocked after empty polish racks are restocked). Stockers are also responsible for keeping the store neat and clean inside and outside. Duties and Responsibilities Support the “Cavender's Culture” and drive our Mission, Vision, and Values Support stocking tasks accurately and efficiently Keep work area neat, clean, and organized Be knowledgeable of all CBC policies and procedures Be knowledgeable of all CBC stocking procedures: Return to Stock (RTS) Return to Vendor (RTV) Validating packing slips Tagging merchandise Sensor tagging merchandise (if applicable) Keep back-stock moving out to the sales floor to the proper locations Report to work promptly, neatly groomed, and appropriately dressed Be security conscious at all times Perform all other miscellaneous duties as assigned Work with supervisors to understand all actions needed to impact the desired goals set by the company (i.e. Web order completion rate, Company, or Vendor contests) Qualifications and Requirements Job requires associate to raise or lower objects from one level to another regularly during shift Job requires associate, on a regular basis, to carry objects up to 50 lbs Job requires that the associate regularly pick up objects up to 50 lbs Ability to comprehend basic instructions Ability to interpret documents Ability to apply abstract principles to a wide range of complex tasks Ability to understand the meanings of words and effectively respond Associate must be able to read English.
