    The Climbing Facility at Southern Utah University serves SUU Students, Staff, Faculty and the SUU Community by providing a venue for educational, instructional, and recreational climbing opportunities. Its operations and policies are parallel with the Climbing Wall Association and other professional industry standards. The Climbing Wall offers a safe, clean, and welcoming environment and promotes new and seasoned climbers alike to learn new skills and meet others within the climbing community. This position reports directly to both the Director and Assistant Director of SUU Outdoors, as well as the Head Route Setter. The position also works closely with ORPT Faculty and Climbing Wall Attendants. Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS Route Setters must be outgoing, friendly, and enthusiastic about climbing and the outdoors. They must have good written and verbal communication skills and provide excellent customer service, as they are representative of SUU Outdoors. Must be a current Southern Utah University student in good academic standing. Previous indoor or outdoor climbing experience; can climb 5.8 top-rope. Previous setting experience in a commercial setting preferred. Understands proper care, use, and inspection of climbing gear. Dependable and trustworthy. Excellent people and communication skills. Ability to work with all ages and groups. Ability to work autonomously and in teams. RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for the creation and upkeep of the specific routes on the wall. Responsible for the repair and maintenance of the setting equipment, holds and hardware. Clean and organize all setting equipment, holds, climbing facility. Enforce and follow all safety guidelines, rules, policies, and procedures. Communicate with ORPT Faculty and Head Setter to ensure design and rating of routes are copacetic with students needs/level of ability and schedule route setting times based off of class times Create, set, and maintain a minimum of 3 routes every other week. These routes should be set according to the Climbing Wall Association and SUU Outdoors standards.(see and follow manuals) Maintenance, inspection, and documentation of all climbing equipment and facilities. Attend ongoing trainings and in-services - monthly. Read, understand, and adhere to the Route Setters Manual (Policy and Procedure). Other duties as assigned. TIME COMMITMENT Belay certification classes, refreshers, and trainings. Route setting during specific hours. Scheduled in-services and meetings. We seek a Video Producer/Director to join our in-house development, production, research, teacher professional development, and community engagement team. The ideal applicant shares our passion for education, and our vision of universal science and health literacy that empowers individuals to make informed decisions for themselves, their family, their community, and our planet. The Video Producer/Director will work collaboratively with our music composer & audio engineer, science and curriculum writers, graphic designers, animators, multimedia developers, and web developers to create engaging science and health-related videos for middle and high school students, patients and the public. The Video Producer/Director will work with other GSLC teams to plan videos and discuss realistic expectations, interact with outside clients, plan shoots, draft scripts (if needed), scout locations (if needed), research publicly available B-roll and photos (if needed), recruit and prepare talent, recruit and supervise free-lance personnel (if needed), edit footage and export it for delivery, and make edits, as requested.
