Position Highlights:
Established, collaborative team of 10 physicians and 2 advanced practice providers
Clinic hours: Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM
STEMI call coverage required on weekdays and weekends (1:3 rotation)
Shared hospital rotation across 10 providers, including general cardiologists
ER call required
Practice supported by Carondelet's extensive hospital network and infrastructure
Candidate Requirements:
MD or DO degree
Board Certified / Board Eligible in Interventional Cardiology
Arizona medical license or eligibility to obtain one
Strong clinical and interpersonal skills, and a passion for excellent patient care

As a member of our medical team, you will collaborate with members of a professional, experienced clinical care team to provide integrated physical and behavioral health care. You'll enjoy working with people who are not only dedicated, but progressive and who encourage clinical innovation and new, empirically based best practice programs.
You will treat the whole patient, utilizing a broad range of skills, with an understanding of the unique strengths, needs, and culture of each individual and their family. You will see patients regularly over long periods of time, build relationships with them, and be able to affect long-term change in their lives.
Although the position is challenging, you'll have a flexible schedule, no hospital rounds, and minimal on-call responsibilities so you'll have time to enjoy your personal life and everything Arizona has to offer.
POSITION SUMMARY
Directs, coordinates, and provides medical/clinical services to specified recipients within a specific clinic. This includes engagement, assessment, differential diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, family meetings, supportive psychotherapy, patient education, and risk assessment, and discharge planning. Has a defined caseload, has productivity goals, and meets the psychiatric needs of any recipient assigned to their clinic. Participates in on-call rotation for the system. Participates in utilization management and quality improvement activities. Functions as the senior clinician on the team.
Competency in Electronic Medical Record software. Thorough and working knowledge of psychiatric and co-occurring disorders is imperative. Knowledge of DSM-IV-TR codes and descriptions, psychotropic medications and crisis intervention. Requires effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to follow direction, use of sound judgment and excellent time management skills are essential. Must maintain good recipient relationships, and be able to identify priorities and stay organized. Preferred typing skills of 25-30 wpm. Knowledge of community based behavioral health services preferred

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND POSITION:
Responsible for providing medical care as delegated by the surgeon. This APP will work as a team with another PA and the surgeon. The APP's have their own clinic schedule and split OR time averaging 1.5 days a week. The position does take call inpatient and outpatient phone in rotation with the other APP's. This position is eligible for a monthly productivity and stipend bonus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Assesses patient health status including state of wellness, compliance with the care plan and determines appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Provides acute and chronic patient care including taking histories, doing physicals, monitoring therapies, giving injections and medications, suturing wounds.
Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems.
Responds to emergencies including the use of CPR.
Documents patient information and care provided in the patient record and maintains patient statistics.
Educates patients and families as appropriate. It provides continuity of care.
Assists physicians with surgeries in the operating room.
Participates in rounds at the hospital and responds to patient calls received after hours and on weekends.
Consults with other staff as necessary.
Maintains patient confidentiality.

EDUCATION:
CPR and ACLS Certification
Physician Assistant:
BA/BS, MS preferred. Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program. Active or scheduled NCCPA Certification.
NursePractitioner:
Current Arizona license for Registered Nurse. Current Arizona license for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Certification by national certifying body as approved by the Arizona APRN Board.
RNFA Required: NP requirement to act as first assist in the OR includes completion of a program that covers the content of the AORN Standards for RN First Assist education programs as a standalone program or a portion of a graduate or postgraduate program.
EXPERIENCE:
1 year of ortho or neurosurgery experience required.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of acute and chronic protocols, administration of medications, delivering physical care following the treatment plan.
Knowledge of how to assess patient health and measure/record physiologic and growth indices.
Knowledge of health promotion principles and techniques and patient learning measurements.
SKILLS:
Skill in gathering and analyzing physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data.
Skill in accurately evaluating patient problems in person or via phone and providing appropriate advice, intervention, or referral.
Skill in evaluating and revising the care plan based on patient changes.
ABILITIES:
Ability to make responsible decisions within the scope of a dependent medical practitioner.
Ability to develop health education programs and materials.
Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the health care team.

Qualifications Required
Licensed as a Pediatrician or Pediatric NursePractitioner in the State of Arizona.
Possess current DEA registration.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) is preferred but not required
In-depth knowledge of children epidemiology and infectious diseases
Exquisite knowledge of diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitation principles and techniques
Up to speed knowledge of drugs/medication appropriate for children and their side-effects
Familiarity with traditional and web-based prescription systems
Active listener, patient and calm
Outstanding diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communications skills (written and oral)
Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
Have no pending actions by board of medicine in Arizona or any other state.
Have current unencumbered license to practice as a Pediatrician or NursePractitioner and to prescribe medications in the State of Arizona.
Possess valid drivers license with acceptable driving record, telephone and reliable transportation.
Willingness to participate in trainings and continuing education.
Ability to analyze and assess situations and patients.
Certification in first aid and CPR.
Demonstrated knowledge of referral resources available to participants.
Ability to type and working knowledge/familiarity with computers and electronic clinical record keeping.
Must obtain and maintain a fingerprint clearance card and pass a background check.
