Summary: All Youth Care Workers may be required to work different shifts in order to meet program needs. Below is a basic description of the general tasks required to be completed throughout the day. The below tasks are only a general outline and other job duties will be assigned in order to meet program needs. Position Responsibilities: Shift Specific Expectation & Responsibilities Morning Routine * *Supervise any residents unable to attend school, interact and engage in activities with residents and children. * *Computer related tasks: Document daily logs and incident reports using the internal database, ensure important information is included. * *Provide care and engage in age-appropriate activities for children unable to go to daycare. * *Ensure cottages are clean, fully stocked and organized during shift. * *Supervise and log all domestic and international calls for residents as needed. * Facilitate physical activity and leisure activity as needed. * Help wake residents and supervise morning routine. * Supervise morning chores (spray cleaning products for residents) and room checks. * Prepare and serve breakfast and assist residents during breakfast clean up. * Process medications from pharmacy using the internal database. Competencies: Managing Change Communication De-escalation Interpersonal Awareness Teamwork Requirements Minimum Qualifications: * Education * Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent. * Associate or bachelor's degree preferred. * Experience * Minimum of 1-year employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents in a social service setting. * License and Credentials * Reliable transportation. * Valid driver license. * Valid vehicle insurance. Must provide immunization/shot records. * Submit to a state and federal background check, Child abuse and neglect registry check, and Tuberculosis screening. * Able to show proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route if working directly with unaccompanied children. * Varicella: two doses of varicella vaccine (at least 4 weeks apart) OR born in the United States before 1980 with a reported history of chickenpox (verified by an adult present at the time of illness) OR titers indicating varicella immunity OR documentation from healthcare provider verifying previous infection. * MMR: two doses of MMR vaccine (at least 4 weeks apart) OR titers indicating immunity to all three diseases. * DTaP or TDap: Complete primary vaccination series. If primary vaccination series completed in childhood, one DTaP dose in adulthood. * Influenza: one dose annually during flu season. Minimum Knowledge and Skills: * Minimum of 1-year employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents in a social service setting. * Some knowledge of computer software, familiarity with or ability to utilize KaleidaCare and MS Office (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneDrive). * Ability to set and teach trauma informed care practices. * Excellent communication skills. * Knowledge of human behavior and development preferred. * Successful completion and implementation of SAMA. * Possess sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socio-economic characteristics. * Ability to establish a respectful relationship with persons served in order to help them gain skills and confidence. * Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals. * Capacity to maintain a helping role and to intervene appropriately in order to meet service goals. * Demonstrate a commitment to empowering others to solve their own problems. * Demonstrate a conviction about the capacity of people to grow and change. * Ability to function independently and in a team setting. * Must pass a criminal background check. * *Bilingual: Fluent in English/Spanish with regards to reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension of the spoken language. The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Project Odyssey Specialist supports Wounded Warrior Project's Mental Health and Wellness programs by serving wounded service members dealing with invisible injuries (e.g., post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and combat stress) through Project Odyssey. The Project Odyssey Specialist plans, manages, and executes all aspects of Project Odyssey, providing support and resources to warriors and their families to enhance their resiliency and psychological well-being. Note: Project Odyssey is an up to 12-week program that encourages warriors to challenge themselves both physically and mentally while in a supportive environment. A typical 12-week Project Odyssey consists of a five-day experiential learning workshop and 11 weeks of follow up. Project Odyssey is also delivered in a virtual space over the course of six to twelve weeks using virtual experiential sessions and a learning management system. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Screen, interview, and assess warriors and family support members' who express interest in Project Odyssey (PO) and decide whether the warrior is, or the couple are, a good fit for and will benefit from participation in either a face to face model or virtual delivery. Evaluate and identify relevant mental health-focused resources for warriors or couples who are not currently ready for participation in Project Odyssey. Develop in person Project Odyssey mental health workshop agenda with intentionally planned activities focused on enhancing the mental health of attendees. Develop virtual Project Odyssey mental health workshop agenda with intentionally planned activities through learning management systems focused on enhancing the mental health of attendees. Manage overall facilitation of Project Odyssey including selecting participants, conducting the activities, facilitating psychoeducational workshops, and debriefing.     Job Description Streetwork Project is the oldest street outreach program for homeless and street-involved youth in New York City. The program has grown from its beginnings in 1984 as a storefront project to encompass both outreach and comprehensive harm reduction services. As part of our continuum of services we operate an emergency housing program for homeless youth in NYC, Streetwork Overnight. The Overnight is a 24 bed facility for youth ages 16-20. It is open from 7 pm to 10 am 7 days a week. Casual Youth Advocates work overnight hours to support the youth while they are in our crisis shelter. As part of our continuum of services, we also provide overnight outreach in teams of two seven nights a week (7 pm to 3 am), throughout the five boroughs of New York City. Casual Youth Advocates work overnight hours to meet the most disenfranchised youth while they are in crisis. Casual Youth Advocates work part-time and on-call, filling in for full-time youth advocate absences at the Overnight and Outreach program. These individuals provide comprehensive services to adolescents and young adults impacted by homelessness and involved in street activities (gangs, violence, drug use/sale and survival sex). Services provided by casual youth advocates are the same as full-time youth advocates and include assessment, case planning, case facilitation and management, counseling, referrals, outreach, crisis transportation, daily living services (food, shower, respite), and groups. Implements the Status System on a consistent and daily basis. Acts as a positive role model for relationship building and connection. Completes incident reports, logs, and other various forms according to licensing expectations. Provide safe vehicle operation and report any vehicle needs when appropriate, turn in maintenance requests as needed or as directed by shift supervisor. Participates in the development and implementation of treatment plans and program expectations. Maintains strict confidentiality of all records in compliance with HIPAA.
