Job Description:

Responsibilities:

Sanctuary for Families is New York's leading service provider and advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking and related forms of gender violence. Every year, Sanctuary empowers thousands of adults and children to move from fear and abuse to safety and stability, transforming lives through a comprehensive range of services. We provide a range of wrap-around services to help survivors rebuild their lives in the aftermath of abuse, and work to end gender violence through three key strategies: direct services, outreach and training, and systems-change advocacy. Our services are available in 12 locations throughout New York City.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The counselor will provide assessment, counseling, advocacy, and referral services to child witnesses of gender-based violence and survivors of teen dating violence. They will work with the clinical team to provide holistic, trauma-informed, and survivor-centered clinical services. They will utilize a trauma-informed approach to promote clients' rights and provide services in a manner that emphasizes safety, respect, and dignity. They will provide strength-based guidance and work to resolve the impact of gender-based violence in their young lives. They will also provide information and outreach to the community. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for social justice and work collaboratively with the clinical team. Counselor will be working from NYC Family Justice Center, Bronx, NY.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete clinical assessments and treatment plans for children and teens referred for counseling;
Provide mental health services for children and teens (from 0-21 years old) including short term individual counseling and crisis intervention with individuals and their families;
Collaborate with staff at other Sanctuary for Families sites and Bronx Family Justice Center Partner agencies to provide holistic services;
Advocate for and assist families/individuals in the negotiation of service delivery system to ensure receipt of appropriate clinical and related services;
Demonstrate competence in evidence-based modalities such as CPP (Child Parent Psychotherapy) and TF-CBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy);
Develop effective relationships with children and families;
Liaise effectively with other professionals in and out of the Bronx Family Justice Center and DA's office in order to meet the needs of the clients;
Facilitate appropriate clinical groups for clients, including, but not limited to, parenting skills groups;
Participate in team and agency meetings, individual supervisory meetings, case conferences and other meetings as requested;
Complete all appropriate paperwork, including case notes and reports, in a timely manner;
Assist with children's room coverage to support team in providing services to families seeking services;
Conduct outreach and training related to gender based and domestic violence;
Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor;
Provide support and supervision to MSW interns as needed.
LMSW, LCSW, LMHC or similar degree.
A minimum of one (1) year of relevant work experience with victims of domestic violence, including work with children;
Experience providing counseling and supportive services to domestic violence survivors and their families;
Experience facilitating support groups and dynamic community workshops;
Ability to work flexible hours, a mix of hybrid and remote work;
Ability to work two late evenings (up to and including 7:30 PM) a week and to maintain a flexible work schedule
Interest in working with clients from diverse backgrounds;
Computer literate in Microsoft applications required;
Familiarity with virtual telehealth platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom
Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
Budgeted Salary: $68,429 - $75,588 per year; based on experience pursuant to wage scale in accordance with collective bargaining agreement

Trauma Counselor
Safe Horizon's Safe Way forward program provides comprehensive trauma-informed client-centered services to families who are affected by intimate partner violence and are involved in the child welfare system. Our goal is help those who have experienced physical, emotional or other forms of abuse to establish long-term safety and healing from the effects of trauma. Safe Horizon uses a client centered, trauma informed, anti-oppressive approach to supporting clients. Safe Horizon recognizes that families who have experienced intimate partner violence may want to or need to stay in contact with the person causing harm in the family. The Safe Way forward program (SWF) was designed to engage family members with support to assist in healing and explore ways for families to maintain contact where safe to do so. In this model, all participating members of the family are considered clients (survivor, person causing harm, and their children).
Hybrid schedule:
2 days on site, 3 days remote.
Essential Job Functions:
The Trauma Counselor provides both practical trauma intervention and support to domestic violence survivors, their children and the person causing harm (separately)
Duties may include some or all of the following:
· Administer trauma screenings and trauma assessments to children, survivors of domestic violence and/or persons causing harm in intimate partner relationships
· Develop treatment goals with clients
· Engage clients and provide trauma-focused mental health treatment with fidelity to evidence-based models
· Provide evidence-based trauma-focused treatment through individual, dyadic, and group models
· Work in close partnership with SWF team members and ACS to coordinate service provision for children and families impacted by domestic violence
· Conduct comprehensive assessments for survivors and/or persons causing harm and their families
· Provide crisis intervention and short- and long-term trauma intervention for children, survivors of domestic violence and/or persons causing harm in intimate partner relationships
· Engage in safety assessment and risk management dialogues with clients to follow up on safety plan
· Conduct home visits with clients and their families.
· Participate and support clients in family team conferences
· Maintain clear, concise, and timely documentation with all relevant client information including data entry into a computerized record keeping system
· Attend training relevant to position, including learning and consultation on evidence-based treatment models
· Actively participate in individual and group supervision
· Prepare for and participate in regularly scheduled FFP team case review meetings about new and on-going cases
· Maintain open communication with supervisors and team members
· Collaborate with other service providers internally and externally as needed
· Participate in the service team of clinicians and case planners responsible to maintain a mixed caseload of families (including survivors and their children and persons causing harm)
· Implement strategies for addressing vicarious trauma
Required Skills:
Sensitivity towards and understanding of victimization, especially the experience of survivors of domestic violence and all members of their families including the person causing harm in the family;
Strong communication and organizational skills; Excellent interpersonal skills, be assertive and well organized; Ability to work under pressure in a calm and reassuring manner;
Demonstrate the ability to work independently and also work on a team with an appreciation of different points of view
Ability to work evenings as needed and maintain a flexible work schedule
Strong oral and written communication skills
Qualifications:
Basic understanding of computer and systems for managing case records An advanced degree (LMSW) (license required) or related field.
Prior experience working with children and families impacted by domestic violence, abuse and/or trauma.
Strongly Preferred: Bilingual Spanish/English fluency Experience with family therapy or individual therapy preferred with survivors of domestic violence or persons causing harm in a trauma-informed setting;
Knowledge of the New York City domestic violence service system, public benefits, child welfare, housing system and other social services.

The Contract Assessment Counselor will work up to 20 hours per week in the office and is paid per client. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive screenings and assessments to persons experiencing mental health and substance use issues. Provide individual counseling, group counseling and case management services to individuals with Substance Use Disorders (SUD) so they may achieve sustained remission from SUD, restore and increase healthy social connections, obtain stable income and permanent housing, and reduce their risk of homelessness. As a Level II Case Counselor also conduct diagnostic assessments, review and sign off on Level I Case Counselors notes, and provide them with mentoring and support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:• Provide individual counseling, outpatient group counseling, intensive outpatient group counseling, and case management to homeless individuals with substance use disorders.• Provide individual counseling and case management to a case load of program participants.• Facilitate Outpatient Group Counseling and Intensive Outpatient Group Counseling. • Record all service activities by entering progress notes in the Y-Haven Electronic Medical Record.• Establish and maintain regular collaborative relationships with social service organizations and programs that residents may utilize for employment, housing, continuing recovery and other needs. • Participate in daily team meetings, quality assurance meetings, in-service trainings and coordination meetings.• Coordinate with Clinical Director on all critical clinical issues.• Conduct Diagnostic Assessments.• Review and sign off on Level I Case Counselor Notes.• Provide mentoring to Level I Case Counselors.• Other duties as assigned.

Program Description: TOP Opportunities is a program of Goddard Riverside Community Center that provides vocational training and job placement to prepare underemployed adults for success in the workplace using the evidence-based practice of Individual Placement and Support (ISP) to help program participants to achieve their goals. We work with adults with severe mental illness and co-occurring barriers to employment, including homelessness, substance use, learning disabilities and justice histories.
Position Summary: The Career Counselor is responsible for developing and managing new employer accounts within various job markets for the purpose of creating employment opportunities for program participants. The Career Counselor provides career exploration, targeted job coaching and support to program participants, preparing them for success in their chosen field. Utilizing IPS, the Career Counselor works in a team to develop both job placements and retention supports with the goal of developing a career path and achieving greater self-sufficiency and independence.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

A degree in counseling or social work is a plus, including experience working with individuals with serious mental illness
Valid driver's license preferred, with a driving record that meets the agency's auto insurance guidelines (including at least one year of driving experience and no suspensions within the last 3 years)
