Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To help/operate high speed stranding equipment to produce specified kinds of stranded cable on specified packages. Must also sign off as High speed strander operator after successful training of the helper training sheet.
Tools/Equipment/ Responsibilities
Help/operate the high speed strander with metering equipment, take up capstans, take up winding unit and payoff unit; portable welder unit, grease and blasting cabinets where applicable, using overhead cranes/loaders, various size wooden or steel reels, various size closing blocks and dies, micrometers, portable power back saw, strong adhesive tape, bolt cutters, pneumatic nail guns, fork truck, and miscellaneous small hand tools.
Must be willing to work on a fast paced, highly focused machine that will have constant attention given to safety, quality, speed, and scrap.
Will operate as the helper mainly, while on occasion act as the operator in case of call off or other circumstance that deems it necessary. This person will be part of a 2-person team on the machine and will be expected to receive machine responsibility direction from both operator and supervisor to keep flow of machine running at maximum level.
Material Handled
Various sizes and shapes of aluminum wire, aluminum alloy, aluminum wire on steel bobbins, steel or aluminum cable on steel or wooden reels, and greases and oxide inhibitors.
Source of Supervision
Receives direction from the Stranding Supervisor
OCCASIONAL WORK REQUIREMENTS
Each day sweep entire work area and return tools and other materials to the proper storage areas. Aid maintenance personnel with repairs to strander or auxiliary equipment. Aids maintenance personnel with gear changes. May be required to help with bobbin stripping or cable rewinding operation or to sweep up or clean specified areas in the plant. Performs other duties as may be assigned by their immediate Supervisor, depending upon qualifications.
SAFETY RULES
When loading bobbins or reels, pay special attention to the procedure used to load to avoid any back injuries.
Always be aware of forklifts and make sure the driver knows where you are.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
Demand for the product run on the high speed strander is elevated and in order for Southwire to meet customer demand, the machine must run consistently. The process is technical and requires trained individuals to perform the job independently. Because of this, it is not always possible that such an individual will be available to replace an absent operator. Therefore, predictable and consistent attendance is required due to the nature of the job.

The Value Stream Manager is a leadership role that will be primarily focused on ensuring a safe work environment for all team members, while maintaining continuous operational execution and production of quality products that are delivered on-time to customers within established cost targets.

Key Responsibilities
Safety Management
Manage all value stream related KPIs (SQDCI)

Responsible to ensure of executing findings of accident investigations and safety alerts within their value stream.

Create a standard for value stream process and ensure entire team are properly trained, resourced, supplied, and managed to attain the objectives.
Highlight and action critical issues in value stream to Plant Leadership.
Execute lean tools and procedures within value stream to minimize process variation.
Ensuring that a current state value stream map is created of the end-to-end value stream(s).
Preparing a future state map that uses lean techniques to eliminate waste and improve process value in the short to mid-term.
Coordinates with other managers and guarantees workflow with other departments.
Must be flexible and willing to accept responsibilities that are outside the traditional scope.
Any other activities as directed by the Plant Leadership.
Ability to work flexible hours and shifts
Required Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree required, preferably engineering or business degree
Minimum of 5 years in manufacturing or distribution operations with a least 2 years in a leadership/management role
Professional Certification: Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred
Statistical and analytical problem solving; database management skills
Ability to demonstrate quantitative, visual, mechanical and spatial skills related to manufacturing knowledge and technical skill in addition to logical reasoning.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with SAP, Advaris is a plus.
Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities along with outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills required.
Must have clear understanding of OPS, the DHP principles and applications.
Demonstrated ability to work in a matrix organization and positively influence strategies and outcomes.
Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to heat/cold conditions and levels of noise, and potential exposure to various industrial liquids, oils, gases, etc.

Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated Electrical/Mechanical Engineering student to join our High Voltage Cable Design team for a summer internship. This role offers hands-on experience in the design and analysis of high-voltage cable systems and their accessories, with a focus on electrical performance and installation practices.
Key Responsibilities
The intern will work under the guidance of senior engineers and will be involved in the following activities:
Electrical Analysis & Simulation
Perform studies of induced voltages during short-circuit faults (phase-to-ground) for both internal and external fault conditions.
Analyze the impact of impulse waves and residual voltage of sheath voltage limiters (SVL) to assess:
Potential damage to insulating components of cable accessories.
Maximum allowable length of bonding cables.
Utilize simulation tools (e.g., COMSOL Multiphysics) for electromagnetic and transient analysis.
Design & Drafting
Develop typical installation drawings for high-voltage cable systems, including:
Cable arrangements on riser poles, air-insulated substations (AIS), and gas-insulated substations (GIS).
Grounding details for manholes and other structures.
Work with AutoCAD and SolidWorks to create accurate and detailed engineering drawings.
Documentation & Reporting
Prepare technical reports summarizing analysis results, design considerations, and recommendations.
Assist in creating standard installation guidelines and best practices.
Qualifications
Minimum 2.5 GPA.
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Shift Technician is required to support the maintenance organization and process, the Maintenance Shift Technician is responsible for ensuring plant equipment performs reliably. The technician will be working closely with other Maintenance Teams and Production personnel to ensure the plant equipment performs to the need of the plant. The Maintenance Manager will define other duties and responsibilities.
This position will work an assigned Night shift schedule (8 or 12 hrs.)

**Education and/or Experience:** **-** Five years related industrial maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
**Language Skills** : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
**Mathematical Skills** : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must have ability to operate electronic calculator to accomplish these tasks.
**Reasoning Ability** : Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

+ Responsible for routine identification of equipment reliability issues and supporting action plans to correct.
+ Develop critical spares lists and recommended stocking levels for equipment.
+ Work closely with Maintenance Leadership to integrate preventive and predictive maintenance programs into the computerized maintenance management system.
+ Required to participate in skills training improvement plans.
+ Provide support to other departmental process improvement initiatives.
+ Actively participate in departmental safety and housekeeping programs.
+ Support changing work schedules to coincide with equipment availability, craft training, and resource
+ Responsible for daily forklift safety inspections and completion of checklist sheets
+ Must demonstrate good housekeeping skills to assure a safe and hazard-free work environment.
+ Must have basic computer literacy in order to enter production data daily.

**Strategic Planning and Market Introduction:**
+ Support to develop and implement the annual strategic plan in alignment with business units to promote and introduce new products and solutions to the Digital Solution and fiber cables market.

**Customer Engagement and Market Expansion:**

**Product Development and Process Technology Activities**

+ Benchmark and monitor competitor products and services in the market and industry.
**Interdepartmental Collaboration:**
+ Host interdepartmental meetings and workshops with Sales, Engineering, Production, and Installation teams to refine scope and develop concepts into desirable solutions.
+ Provide Application Engineering support for New Product Development, including development and refinement of the tools and accessories associated with optical fiber cables.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Engineering bachelor's degree (Chemical, Materials Engineering or Applied Physics)
+ 10+ years of experience in Research & Development, field service, innovation, or related roles
+ Know-how in Fiber and Optical Fiber Cables
+ Ability and willingness to travel, with 20-30% travel required at certain time periods.

**Position Summary**
The candidate will join the Automation Group to support the manufacturing of optical fiber by providing technical expertise in PC and PLC-based controls and automation. This role involves developing and maintaining PLC programs for production and facility equipment, troubleshooting daily production issues, and supporting improvement projects. The individual will also assist in commissioning new equipment, ensure proper backups of all programs and critical files per plant standards, and provide occasional off-hours support. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with technical staff to optimize processes and performing other duties as assigned by management.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Apply expertise in fiber optic or other highly automated manufacturing processes to optimize production efficiency.
+ Program and maintain Rockwell (Allen-Bradley), Schneider Electric (Modicon), and Siemens PLCs to ensure reliable control systems.
+ Develop PLC programs using IEC languages such as Ladder Logic, Sequential Function Charts, Structured Text, and Function Block Diagrams.
+ Configure and troubleshoot industrial communication protocols including Profibus, Ethernet, and Modbus+.
+ Design and implement SCADA software solutions, managing PC-to-PLC and PC-to-database transactions for seamless data flow.
+ Program and integrate servo drives and motion controllers to support advanced automation and precision control.
