Position Summary
The Package Engineering Co-Op will work closely with full time engineering and packaging staff to become familiar with the wire manufacturing support process as well as the tools, techniques and thought processes used in the industry. While completing the Co-Op, students will be exposed to many types of manufacturing directly related to the packaging and wire industry. Assignments may center on projects devoted to improvements in operation efficiency, scrap reduction, and problem solving.
Key Responsibilities
* Will work with Packaging Engineer to develop production and design standards
* Work with Packaging Engineer to support and resolve customer concerns and process problems related to packaging
* Will work with Packaging Engineer to develop and optimize package testing protocols
* Grow the ability to recognize opportunities to lower costs, improve performance, and learn the steps to implement
* Work to support managements packaging initiatives
* Will develop strong knowledge and expertise in packaging methods, concepts and ideology
* Coordinate with management, plant personnel, vendors and contractors to complete projects on schedule and within budget

Responsibilities Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Leadership
Serve as a TPM subject matter expert, driving implementation of MCC's TPM pillars (Focused Improvement, Autonomous Maintenance, Planned Maintenance, Early Equipment Management, and Skills Development).
Partner with plant leadership to design and execute site-specific TPM deployment roadmaps and maturity assessments.
Lead cross-functional kaizen events to identify equipment losses, eliminate chronic issues, and improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
Coach maintenance and operations teams in root cause analysis, condition-based monitoring, and daily equipment care standards.
Champion Autonomous Maintenance by training operators in basic inspection, cleaning, and lubrication activities to increase equipment ownership and engagement.
Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for reliability, including MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), MTTR (Mean Time To Repair), and OEE.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
Ensure all equipment meets MCC safety, quality, and operational standards.
Lead the development and execution of robust preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Audit and improve AssetEssentials (or other CMMS) data accuracy, utilization, and reporting to enable effective decision-making.

Travel

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, Facility Management, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 10 years of reliability, maintenance, or operations experience in a manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated expertise implementing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) or similar reliability-centered maintenance systems.

The engineer will provide technical leadership to the production team, collaborate with R&D and Quality groups, and lead troubleshooting and process improvement projects across the site.
What You Will Do:
Process Engineering & Optimization
Lead day-to-day technical support for resin production units, ensuring stable, efficient, and safe operations
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance yield, reduce waste, improve energy efficiency, improve first pass fail and optimize cycle time
Analyze process data and KPIs to identify trends, root causes, and performance improvement opportunities
Develop and maintain process documentation including PFDs, P&IDs, SOPs, and operating parameters
Project Management
Lead scale-up activities for new resin formulations from pilot to commercial scale
Manage process modification projects including scope definition, design, equipment specification, and commissioning
Work closely with EHS, Maintenance, and Production to ensure successful execution of capital and improvement projects
Safety, Quality & Compliance

Plant Quality TechnicianResponsible for executing corporate and plant specific Food Safety, Quality and Laboratory requirements. The QA Technician reports to QA Manager. In the absence of the Quality Assurance Technician, the QA Manager or designate will assume the job duties.
Essential Functions
Ensure all parameters of food safety and quality are being adhered to and maintained throughout the facility.
Assist with batching chemicals/ingredients for production.
Calibrate lab and line equipment for accurate results.
Collect in-process and finished product samples.
Conduct standardized qualitative and quantitative testing to ensure it meets specifications.
Perform aseptic testing for microbial contamination.
Follow protocols for documenting testing results.
Recognize deficiencies and initiate proper follow-up.
Identify and isolate product that does not meet standards.
Aid in troubleshooting deficiencies and non-conformances.
Review food safety and quality records.
Actively participate in plant teams (HACCP, Safety, etc.)
Conduct other duties as assigned by management.

Service Quality
