Key Responsibilities: Follows all applicable SDL engineering processes Responsible for designing complex, highly available information systems and supporting their implementation Provides clear, detailed guidance on selecting and implementing the most efficient solutions to meet business needs Gathers and synthesizes system requirements from internal and external customers defining operational requirements including integration with other systems or components Works with cross-functional teams to implement requirements into complete, workable system solutions that account for technical, schedule, and cost constraints; also evaluates and recommends viable alternatives Acts as a Multi-Disciplined Engineer serving as a subject matter expert primarily in cloud systems, with working proficiency across compute, storage, directory services, hypervisors, and networking Demonstrates a strong understanding of network architecture and connectivity concepts relevant to cloud-based systems Assists in enhancing current engineering processes Serves as a peer reviewer for complex information systems designs Responsible for engineering documentation of assigned systems and solutions Evaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or services Conducts research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards Provides technical expertise on projects and proposal efforts Provides expertise in defining and implementing best practices to meet or exceed mission needs Expected Outputs: System Design and Diagram(s) Network Architecture System cost estimates Trade and alternative studies Work breakdown structures Customer responsibility matrix Risk analysis matrix and risk management plan Cloud security architecture Minimum Qualifications: Must have a bachelor's degree in related engineering science and 10+ years of relevant experience, or a master's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, or a PhD and 4+ years of relevant experience Experience architecting and engineering information systems - the candidate will be asked to present and describe these experiences Must possess a working knowledge of networking, systems, cyber, and/or cloud technologies Proven experience architecting and engineering AWS-based information systems in regulated or mission environments Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to perform engineering trade-offs between customer requirements, schedule deadlines, program funding, and engineering best practices Ability to work effectively in a team environment on collaborative efforts involving both internal and external team members Experience managing or contributing to project budgets and schedules Must have active Top Secret clearance Must be a US citizen Must be able to travel as needed (not a normal expectation) Valid CompTIA Security+ certification (or equivalent) is required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire Preferred Qualifications: Strong experience with network architecture in cloud or hybrid environments (certifications are a plus) Experience designing, integrating, or supporting Kubernetes-based platforms (e.g., EKS) as part of larger cloud or hybrid information systems Experience using diagramming tools and MBSE methodologies Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects Demonstrated ability to solve large and complex issues Relevant certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, CCSP, CISSP, etc.) *Salary Range $116,000 - $160,000 Salary commensurate based on education and relevant experience This range serves as a general guideline and may vary based on factors such as role, level, location, market conditions, and individual qualifications, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
