OPERATIONS ENGINEER (PRODUCTION) The operations engineering role will support the Falcon Precision Tube Fabrication Shop through strategic planning, optimization of production processes, and alignment of resources to tasks. We are looking for engineers to lead cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams with the goal of optimizing a high-rate, high-mix production resource in a fast-paced environment. We are seeking emerging leaders who can join teams and apply principles of operations engineering, operations research, industrial engineering, and data science to complex operational problems. We are searching for qualified engineers who can conduct complex problem analysis and steer strategic decisions within production. RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop tools to analyze delivery, capacity, and cost problems, informing decisions for production, supply chain, and operations Work as part of a team to develop and manage production strategy to mitigate future production risks and seize emerging opportunities to improve safety, quality, output, and cost Define and develop department-level metrics that quantify the health of our operation, and influence change to positively impact production deliveries Produce data visualizations using both Grafana and Power BI software tools. Produce complex ad-hoc queries and reports to steer the production organization Develop process flow models to analyze production system behavior and provide solutions to production risks and bottlenecks Identify operational challenges within the organization, determine root cause, and implement appropriate solutions to achieve aggressive rate targets Develop and track key performance measures, and identify decision points and actions to optimize production to meet demand Actively develop system and process improvements within and between production elements Collaborate with cross-departmental partners in supply chain, engineering, operations, and planning groups to synchronize efforts BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline 1+ years of experience in using Excel, SQL, or Python/R for analysis or modeling dynamic systems 1+ years of experience in manufacturing, operations, supply chain management, consulting, or internship role PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: On-the-floor manufacturing experience breaking bottlenecks and improving production flow 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, operations, supply chain management, or consulting role Familiarity with and practice applying lean manufacturing methodologies Experience with scheduling, prioritization, and material planning in a manufacturing environment SQL proficiency (i.e. advanced joins, views/table distinctions, and basic query optimizations) Proficient in at least one analytics language (ex. Python) Understanding of database structures, query optimizations, and ETL development Start-up, consulting, or other demonstrated experience in high-growth, fast-paced, rapidly changing environment Strong project management and self-directed prioritization skills Exceptional ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences at all organizational levels Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across disciplines and with multiple levels of management Experience performing data analysis on manufacturing systems (e.g. Manufacturing Execution Systems, Enterprise Resource Planning) Master's degree in engineering, operations management, computer science, management information systems, statistics, mathematics, or similar technical discipline ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be willing to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed Must be willing to travel up to 5-10% This position is based in Hawthorne, CA and requires being onsite - remote work not considered COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Pay Range: Operations Engineer/Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year Operations Engineer/Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per year Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. Your Primary Impact: * Pioneer Monte Carlo Maneuver Analysis Algorithms: Expand the scope and capability of our AWS-powered Monte Carlo maneuver analysis algorithm for Blue Ring. * Enable Mission Success: In addition to development of our Monte Carlo algorithm, perform the resulting analysis to ensure robust mission performance across various operational scenarios. * Perform Live Mission Operations: Design and execute high-thrust and low-thrust maneuvers during flight operations with real-time decision making. * Build Next-Generation Tools: Contribute to maneuver design software in Python, Julia, and the Monte toolkit. Additional Impact: * Mission Design Algorithm Innovation: Develop and validate cutting-edge high-thrust and low-thrust trajectory design algorithms for many-revolution transfer trajectories, cislunar transfers, and station-keeping. * Shape Mission Architecture: Support conceptual studies and proposals that define the future of space exploration. * Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with navigation teams on operational readiness and system integration. * Deliver Excellence: Present results and support critical design reviews using Agile development methodologies. Minimum Qualifications: * M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related fields. * 2+ years of proven experience focused on satellite mission design. * Strong fundamentals in astrodynamics, high-thrust trajectory optimization, and low-thrust trajectory optimization. * Applied experience in navigation tools such as Monte, STK/ODTK, FreeFlyer, Copernicus, or GMAT. * Experience in at least one of the following languages: Python, Julia, or C++. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: * Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields. * Experience performing spacecraft maneuvering in flight operations. * Experience using the Monte software package. * Experience with electric propulsion satellite missions. * Experience in developing flight dynamics software. * Understanding of how to formulate the solution to indirect and direct optimal control algorithms. * Demonstrated knowledge of the mission design lifecycle from conceptualization through operational flight. * Experience working on and effectively communicating with a distributed team. * Experience with DevOps processes including configuration control, continuous development and deployment workflows, Agile methodologies, software code review. * Previous experience with software development tooling such as Jira, git, Jenkins, Docker and at least one IDE. * Recognized expert in the community through conference and/or peer reviewed articles * Active or ability to acquire Active Top Secret (TS) / Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance with Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with polygraph preferred.
