SOURCING MANAGER, MECHANICAL (STARSHIELD)
As a member of the Starshield Supply Chain team you will manage the demand plan and sourcing for hardware used on, and in the making of, the Starshield satellite constellation. Our team moves quickly and you must too. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work directly with key suppliers to develop and implement sourcing and cost management strategies that support existing platforms and new product development
Act as the supplier interface for all RFIs, RFPs and RFQs
Manage cost aggressively to ensure adherence to project-specific budgets and forecasts
Develop should-cost models for competitive cost analysis
Ensure that suppliers are prepared to support all prototype builds with appropriate equipment and material to ensure successful product development, ramp up and mass production
Drive internal and external process improvements to enhance efficiency and implement cost-saving programs with suppliers
Develop, manage, and maintain strong supplier partnerships
Implement analytical data management tools to manage supplier performance
Ensure all purchased parts are clear to build for all Starshield programs
Collaboratively work with engineering and production to identify a reliable supply base to support all prototype builds, design changes and production builds.
Ownerships of end-to-end supply chain responsibilities from sourcing strategies, vendor selection, vendor capacity, contract negotiation, part procurement, delivery tracking, budget planning and cross-functional communication.
Ensure compliance with government and commercial contracts and assist mission managers with contract performance
Conduct sourcing analysis to formulate a sourcing plan that includes strategic direction, supply roadmaps, price trends, market and industry position, and risk assessment
Prepare, issue, and analyze RFx packages, ensuring all commercial terms are agreed upon and documented, using scalable processes for vendor selection, pricing analysis, risk assessment, and decision metrics for one-time and ongoing project requirements
Survey supplier facilities and accurately assess technical capability, equipment, and capacity for rapid deployment in support of new product development and production
Be the Starshield “Go to” supply chain resource for engineering and manufacturing stakeholders and determine and execute sourcing strategies to deliver the best value suppliers, NPI Sourcing Plans, make vs. buy analysis, and lead time optimization to the business
Participate in design reviews, change control meetings, and other technical discussions with Engineering partners; participate in DFM review with Engineering and prospective suppliers and drive decisions from a cost and source reliability perspective
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Analyze supplier spend, capacity, technical capabilities, and core competencies to develop overall supplier negotiation and engagement strategies. Ensure work centers are clear to build on time by driving fulfillment from the vendor base to SpaceX and that lineside inventory health is meeting specifications like sensible min/max/reorder-points that are aligned to the MRP Demand plan.
Have extreme ownership of the work center inventory health overall working closely with production counterparts and engineering to develop robust understanding of supply base ability to stay on top of start and finish dates and scale production rates.
Manage production process or design change cut-ins while balancing risk of NPI to engine reliability and overcommunicating with stakeholders to project manage NPI effectively.
Mitigate sole/single source risk and ensure continuity of supply by developing and leading commodity strategies for sheet metal, raw material, complex machined parts, hardware, and other aerospace components from cradle to grave. Will act as the supplier interface for all RFIs, RFPs and RFQs.
Provide guidance to internal customers on design for manufacturability and trade analysis for precision CNC machined components, as well as partner with internal resources to drive adoption of low-cost parts.
Proactively investigate new market trends, supplier roadmaps, and collaborate with engineering on best path from a technology, cost, and supply standpoint.
Visit supplier facilities and accurately assess operational capability, financial health, and capacity in order to award contracts in support of new product development and long-term production, while conducting comprehensive supplier analysis, including strategic direction, capacity, market and industry position, and risk assessment.
Proactively update SpaceX management and engineering teams on all critical supply issues, with the ability to present value propositions to executives when necessary.
Solve problems to recover from late breaking changes or shortages. Ensure that the production reality (work center cycle time) is supported by a credible and well-thought out inventory demand-supply plan (vehicle exit rate).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree or 2+ years of experience working in purchasing, procurement, material planning, production planning, supply chain management, or engineering
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay Range:
Sourcing Specialist/Level I: $80,000.00 - $100,000/per year
Sourcing Specialist/Level I: $90,000.00 - $115,000/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. GLOBAL SUPPLY MANAGER (FALCON & DRAGON)
This role will be an integral member of our Falcon & Dragon strategic sourcing team and the supply chain subject matter expert for composite or machined part fabrication. Our Falcon & Dragon program provides assured access to space for astronauts, provider for national security payloads, and is critical for the success of Starlink satellites. Along with managing commodity and supplier strategies, a large focus of this role will be eliminating any risk to hitting rate and setting up turnkey solutions to mass produce cost effective rockets.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create sourcing strategies for assigned categories to reduce risk and meet targets for the purchasing department including, but not limited to, payment terms, cash targets, and cost savings
Develop and maintain key internal stakeholder relationships to create strategic sourcing models that optimize the value of products and services that support business unit requirements to maintain continuous cost reduction programs for controllable expenditures
Communicate, manage, and drive compliance to category strategies
Identify and execute cost reduction projects including planning, coordinating with stakeholders, estimating completion, and project updates
Perform advanced quantitative and business process analyses to identify financial impacts of decisions, cost improvement and performance for assigned categories
Collaborate with stakeholders to define SLAs and KPIs for suppliers and measure the appropriate criteria, such as: delivery of business results, cost reduction, quality and timeliness of delivery
