TEST ENGINEER (AVIONICS TEST LAB)
The Avionics Test Lab conducts critical environmental stress and functional screening of all electronic hardware before vehicle integration, including flight computers, power conversion units, analog and digital circuit boards, FPGAs, communication system units, and other components. As a Test Engineer, you will own the success of both flight hardware through testing and any associated test processes to drive safe, high-quality, and efficient delivery to SpaceX vehicles.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Own flight hardware through thermal, vibration, and other screening procedures and serve as the primary contact for any associated issues or stoppages
Ensure all avionics flight hardware meets SpaceX and customer requirements at the conclusion of the testing process
Write automation software in Python to interact with flight hardware, test equipment, instrumentation, and production documentation
Troubleshoot test software and modify codebase to adjust test bounds, implement fixes, and incorporate updates as needed
Collaborate with responsible design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and production teams to solve high-complexity testing challenges
Drive continuous improvement efforts to increase throughput and reduce cost to meet launch targets
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or physics
1+ years of experience in a hardware and/or software testing environment (internship and project experience are applicable)
1+ years of experience in any of the following languages: Python, C#, C++, JavaScript, Visual Basic, MATLAB, and/or LabVIEW
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience with avionics hardware, including flight computers, gas sensors, controllers, antennas, transmitters, receivers, and printed circuit board assemblies
Experience developing object-oriented software and automated test software
Experience with environmental testing such as thermal, vibration, shock, TVAC, and thermal vacuum
Understanding of electrical schematics and electronics manufacturing to analyze and improve test coverage
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Extended hours and weekend work may be required to support critical project and mission milestones
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time - 8 hours minimum
Must be able to lift and carry equipment to 25 lbs. unassisted
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Test Engineer/Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year
Test Engineer/Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. Position Overview:
The Weapons Integration Engineer will work with a variety of test disciplines in an Combined Test Force (CTF) environment, as well as various Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to complete tasks related to testing, and sustainment of aircraft weapon systems. Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Modeling & Simulation Software Engineer 1 or 2 to work at our Northridge, CA. location. This is an on-site role only and there will be no remote work.
Job Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will gain expertise in developing, operating, and analyzing the outputs of the various simulations we use to model the AARGM family of missile systems. The primary simulations are written in C++, with analysis tools written in python and MATLAB. Tasking may also include assisting in developing scenarios to use the simulations to verify weapon system requirements, integrating our models into a HIL system, emulating weapon system hardware, and integrating our simulations into a wider system of simulations.
Our modeling and simulation team is a multidisciplinary team in which each member may have opportunities to work in software development, systems engineering, model and algorithm development, and various types of analysis. The group is an excellent place for engineers interested in gaining a broad understanding of a missile system. The initial focus of this position will be software development.
Basic Qualifications for a Modeling & Simulation Software Engineer (Level 1):
BS degree in software engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, systems engineering, or a related field is required with 1 year of experience.
Experience with C++ in the object-oriented paradigm.
Proficiency in performing analysis with either matlab or python analysis tools (numpy, matplotlib, pandas)

TEST ENGINEER, PROPULSION COMPONENTS (STARSHIP)
The Components Test Organization is a team of engineers, specialists, and technicians who provide the testing expertise needed to develop flight hardware for Falcon Launch Systems, Dragon Spacecraft Systems, Starship Launch and Spacecraft Systems, as well as the Starlink Telecommunications Satellites. Our responsibilities to the flight hardware start at conception and follow the design through R&D testing, design qualification testing, production/acceptance testing, and finally to failure investigations of hardware that may have failed anywhere in its life cycle.
As testing experts, we provide a critical element to the hardware development process, and need to be highly proficient in many different engineering disciplines, including electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, fluid dynamics, automation and control systems, as well as the interpretation and analysis of test data. Because this role is largely hands-on, we also need to be experts in the safe operation of highly energetic and hazardous testing, to ensure everyone remains safe at all times. Due to our expertise with the flight hardware, as well as its testing requirements, we are also responsible for the development of automated test systems required to produce the flight hardware, rapidly and reliably. This requires us to be skilled in systems engineering, CAD, analysis, fabrication/build, project management, and logistics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fill the role of instrumentation and test expert on the flight hardware development team
Develop the detailed test plans and campaigns required to validate the flight hardware
Assist with anomaly/failure investigations
Develop requirements for new test systems needed to test and validate flight hardware
Work with a cross-discipline team including electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to conceptualize and develop new test systems required to test and validate flight hardware
