ELECTROMECHANICAL TECHNICIAN (STARSHIELD)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Fabricate and assemble high-quality, high-reliability electromechanical assemblies
Self-monitor work progress against area benchmarks and achieve on-time delivery of all work
Read, interpret, and work from drawings as well as from controlled documentation and processes such as:
Mechanical drawings, standard dimensioning and tolerancing, and GD&T
Assembly procedures and work instructions
Record work performed on shop floor management system (ERP) as well as use e-mail (MS Outlook)
Perform verification of flight hardware and document results in a clear, precise, and complete manner
Assist with the development of production processes for first-time production runs
Assist with area efficiency improvement projects
Run tests in HASS/HALT and thermal chambers
Self-identify quality issues from workmanship, vendor supplied defects, and design issues
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency certificate
1+ years of professional or academic experience using mechanical hand tools
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate degree
6+ years of professional experience with wire harnesses and/or electronics equipment
Experience in fast-paced production environment working with flight hardware
Experience in a high production environment with hands on experience fabricating harness, electro-mechanical assemblies, or prototype development
Ability to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast paced work environment
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and teamwork skills
Excellent concentration and attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, and/or weekends as needed. Estimated start times: 1st shift (5am), 2nd shift (3pm)
Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching are generally required to perform the functions of this position

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Electromechanical Technician/Level 1: $22.00 - $24.50/hour
Electromechanical Technician/Level 2: $24.50 - $29.00/hour
Electromechanical Technician/Level 3: $28.50 - $35.00/hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

What You Will Be Doing:
You will lead and develop a team of Test Technicians responsible for the safe and efficient execution of high-voltage testing across Helion's production and development programs. In this role, you will manage daily test schedules and operations, drive technician growth and training, and partner closely with Test Engineers and Production Managers to ensure consistent coverage, safety, and quality across all test areas. This is an onsite role reporting to a Production Manager at our Everett, WA office.
You Will:
Supervise day-to-day operations of the Test Technician team, including scheduling, staffing, and shift coordination to maintain full test coverage
Champion a culture of safety and technical excellence by ensuring adherence to all high-voltage and test protocols
Partner with Design & Test Engineers to implement, improve, and sustain testing processes, equipment readiness, and automation initiatives
Lead technician training and certification programs, ensuring all team members meet or exceed Helion's High Voltage Operator standards
Monitor performance, provide coaching and feedback, and drive professional development within the technician team
Track test throughput, identify process bottlenecks, and coordinate cross-functional solutions with engineering and production leadership
Support hands-on troubleshooting and test readiness activities as needed to resolve issues and sustain continuous operations
Foster continuous improvement through standardized work practices, lessons learned, and feedback loops with Test Engineering and Production
Required Skills:
3-5 years of supervisory experience

What You Will Be Doing:

About You and The Role
As a Flight Test Operator, you will have the critical task of testing the new and existing systems we build and operate in order to ensure that we are developing safe and reliable systems. This may include preflighting and launching aircraft, doing repair and maintenance work on aircraft and ground systems, and performing tests on new hardware and software. About You and The Role
The hardware test environment is a multi-disciplinary team responsible for building and maintaining Zipline's engineering prototype fleet. As an Engineering Test Technician, you will work on the build, assembly, and testing of prototype hardware. This role will have you working closely and learning from our design and development teams to review how designs integrate to each other and brainstorm solutions to resolve hardware risks. What You'll Do
* Build test articles at all stages of design maturity. Contribute manufacturability feedback to the design.
* Manage multiple prototype builds through various stages of electrical and mechanical tests to ensure performance of critical hardware. Lead electrical checks of fully assembled prototypes to ensure vehicles are flight worthy after assembly.
* Troubleshoot hardware and software failures by working closely with Electrical and Embedded Software Engineers.
* Brainstorm and prototype fixtures to resolve assembly or maintenance risks.
* Collaborate with Structures, Integration, and Mechanism Engineers to identify component issues and develop solutions that ensure our drones operate at the best reliability and performance.
What You'll Bring
* Minimum 2 years of professional experience in a build or test technician role.
* Experience in prototyping, assembly, or manufacturing of electro-mechanical components.
* Experience writing code with Python, Java, or C++
* Ability to model simple parts using CAD software.
* High level of craftsmanship and attention to detail married with the ability to work quickly.
* Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical challenges and solutions.
* A combination of: soldering, harnessing, machine-shop skills, technical documentation, data analysis.
* Must be eligible to work in the US.
* Must be able to work in person at Zipline's South San Francisco Headquarters.
* Contract will require a 6 month commitment.
What Else You Need to Know
The starting cash range for this role is $75,000-$100,000 ($36-$48/hour). Please note that this is a target, starting cash range for a candidate who meets the minimum qualifications for this role. The final cash pay for this role will depend on a variety of factors, including a specific candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, working location, and projected impact. The total compensation package for this role may also include: equity compensation; overtime pay; discretionary annual or performance bonuses; sales incentives; benefits such as medical, dental and vision insurance; paid time off; and more.

The hardware test environment is a multi-disciplinary team responsible for building and maintaining Zipline's engineering prototype fleet. As a Test Technician, you'll play a key role in validating new designs, building and maintaining tester equipment, and providing rapid feedback to engineering teams. This is a highly hands-on role that requires a strong background in assembly, troubleshooting, and instrumentation, along with the ability to clearly communicate issues and propose improvements that increase reliability and efficiency.
This role is 100% on-site at our South San Francisco office, 5 days per week.
What You'll Do
Build and test prototype hardware across a wide range of maturity levels, providing manufacturability and efficiency feedback to engineering teams.
Assemble, commission, and maintain tester equipment used to validate new hardware.
Instrument test articles with sensors and data acquisition systems, ensuring accuracy and repeatability of results.
Collaborate closely with hardware teams to identify issues, troubleshoot failures, and develop solutions.
Proactively flag risks, inefficiencies, or opportunities for process improvements, and help implement changes.
Design and prototype fixtures to support builds, tests, and maintenance tasks.
Manage multiple hardware builds through various stages of mechanical and electrical testing.
What You'll Bring
Experience with prototyping, assembly, or manufacturing of electro-mechanical systems.
Hands-on skills in instrumentation (sensors, DAQ, wiring, calibration) and troubleshooting test setups.
A high level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and ability to deliver quickly under time pressure.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical challenges and tradeoffs.
A mix of skills such as soldering, harnessing, machining, technical documentation, or data analysis.

ELECTRICAL TEST ENGINEER (AVIONICS)

The Avionics Test group is the last line of defense testing and screening out all electronic hardware on our rockets and spacecraft. Hardware tested by the team includes but is not limited to: flight computers, power conversion units, analog and digital circuit boards, FPGAs, and communication system units. The team is critical in SpaceX's fundamental goal: allowing humanity to explore the stars. It is a huge undertaking and with it comes extreme responsibility to ensure the safety of the crew and payload.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop test solutions for in-house developed avionics hardware products that will fly to space
Write automation software in Python to interact with units under test, test equipment, instrumentation, and production documentation systems
Work closely with and consistently provide feedback to responsible design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and test lab teams to drive design or infrastructure improvements to increase product reliability and yield
Root-cause test failures to ensure issues are understood and develop and implement mitigations as part of a process of continuous improvement
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or physics
1+ years of experience with hardware development or electronics test engineering via professional experience, internships, research and/or outside the classroom projects
1+ years of programming experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience with test equipment and measurement techniques to verify and validate product requirements
Understanding of electrical schematics and electronics manufacturing to analyze and improve test coverage
Understanding of metrology, sources of measurement error, and uncertainty analysis
Experience developing object oriented software
Experience analyzing circuits and developing functional test plans
Understanding and experience in environmental testing such as vibration, shock, thermal, burn-in, and TVAC
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Electrical Test Engineer/Level I: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00/per year
Electrical Test Engineer/Level II: $115,000.00 - $135,000.00/per year
