    General Purpose of Job: The OD Specialist is an individual with strong interpersonal and organizational skills who will play a role facilitating the programs associated with all training related activities handled by the Organizational Development (OD) team. Essential Duties: * Responsible for ensuring an excellent patient experience. * Consistently exemplifies on-stage behavior. * Displays a high level of organization and is capable of effective and efficient multi-tasking. * Administers new patient evaluations. * Ensures that individual treatment plans are completed, approved by medical director, implemented and adhered to for each patient. * Work in conjunction with RT, RN or EP to ensure continuous monitoring of patient EKG and/or oxygen saturation, blood pressure and pulse. * Administers regularly scheduled educational components. * Administer graded exercise testing, which includes, obtaining patient history, medications, illnesses, cardiovascular disease risk factors and exercise history, explanation of testing procedures/significance and safety precaution issues with patients, attaching tracers on the patient, instructing patient, operating necessary equipment and producing accurate tracings; recognizing and identifying problems during testing and notifying the physician according to procedure. * Performs all clinical procedures and patient treatment based on CMS, AACVPR, ACSM or other governing guidelines. * Ensures that all necessary actions are completed and documented correctly. * Ensures that patient status/progress is regularly communicated to referring physician. * Educates, instructs, and verifies competency of staff on proper administration of clinical procedures, fitness testing and biometric screenings. * Ensures that all procedures are accurately billed to the appropriate patient. * Ensures that the facility and equipment is clean, safe, and functioning properly. * Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, vision, values, and customer service initiatives. Adheres to the organization's policies & procedures, and compliance guidelines. * Attends staff meetings and in-service programs as required. * Performs other duties as assigned. Job Requirements General Requirements • BLS certification Work Experience • Minimum of 6 months previous experience in exercise testing or clinical exercise treatment. Education • Bachelor's degree in exercise science, kinesiology, health and fitness or related field. Specialized Knowledge and Skills • Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of fitness testing and exercise prescription guidelines and standards • Knowledge of CMS, AACVPR and ACSM guidelines • Knowledge of regulatory standards and hospital policies, including TJC and HIPPAA confidentiality • Working knowledge of office procedures • Written and computer skills necessary to prepare required documentation • Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain positive relations and rapport with patients and internal/external customers • Demonstrates professional appearance • Mental ability to effectively work on tasks requiring accuracy and attention to detail, adapt and respond to multiple priorities and demands, and handle information of a confidential nature • Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job University of Michigan Health-Sparrow is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
