POSITION SUMMARY The School Bus Driver's main responsibilities are to safely transport students and staff, and to fulfill the required duties of daily bus operations. The position reports to the Director of Transportation. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Transport students and authorized personnel to and from school, field trips, and other approved activities. Operators will provide safe and reliable transportation services for students to and from schools within designated Safe Passage Zones in Wards 7 and 8. They will work collaboratively with assigned DCSC Aides to ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers during transportation services. Schedule: The D.C. Safe Passage Program needs a driver to attend two shifts, a 3-hour morning shift and a 3-hour afternoon shift to align with student pick-up and drop-off times. Responsibilities: Provide safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services for DCSC-authorized students. Operate vehicles designed to carry 10 or more passengers, such as passenger vans, shuttles, or sedans. Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring functionality and safety of vehicle components, including tires, lights, oil levels, and first aid kits.
