    Ministerial Character: The Bishops of the State of Texas are the visible principle and foundation of unity in the (arch)dioceses entrusted to them. In order to fulfill their mission, the bishops form the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops (TCCB) and direct its staff to serve as the public policy voice of the church in Texas and nationally, coordinate the accreditation and cooperation of Texas Catholic Schools, and help preserve the documents and cultural history of the church through the Catholic Archives of Texas. The bishops appoint an executive director who is responsible for employing staff to carry out those functions, subject to the TCCB budget. Each position employed by the TCCB helps extend the ministry of the Texas bishops within the church community in particular ways, as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the bishops in the performance of their ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church. Job Summary: The Coordinator of Special Education will assist the Director of Education and Accreditation in implementing a special needs program across Catholic schools. This position will play a vital role in ensuring that students with diverse learning needs receive appropriate support, accommodations, and inclusive educational opportunities aligned with both best practices and the mission of Catholic education. This is a full-time salaried position with a moderate degree of independent judgment that reports to the Executive Director and Director of Education and Accreditation. This position is funded for two years. Essential Job Duties: Lead the creation of a special needs program. Develop strategic goals, policies, and procedures to ensure high-quality quality inclusive practices across schools. Create systems for the identification, assessment, and support of students with disabilities or learning differences. Design and deliver training for teachers, administrators, and support staff on inclusive education strategies. Provide training and support for school personnel to effectively implement student accommodation plans. Serve as a liaison between superintendents, school administrators, and TCCB ED. Develop educational materials, resources, and guides for ESA program implementation. Ensure educational programs for students with learning differences are implemented in compliance with TCCB ED school policies and accreditation standards. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of Educational Savings Account (ESA) legislation. Knowledge of Catholic theology, particularly social and ethical teaching. Successfully implement the Direct Instruction (DI) Curriculum Participate in lesson practice and delivery of our Direct Instruction (DI) Curriculum Communicate students' progress with student and family on a weekly basis Implement a clear and consistent behavior management system that aligns to campus- wide initiatives while developing students' character and sense of community in the classroom Help shape and develop a school wide culture that fosters a productive and enthusiastic learning environment for each student Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with students and families based on trust, understanding and respect for the communities in which they identify.
