SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The SpecialEducationTeacher may be responsible for directing, monitoring, and mentoring paraprofessionals working with students who have disabilities.

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Education. SpecialEducation licensure preferred. Master's degree preferred. Appropriate state license or certification required. Two years of experience is preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Hold a valid Arkansas teaching license. Meets requirements for Highly Qualified Teacher designation, as applicable to the teaching assignment. ArkansasSpecialEducation licensure or ability to obtain Arkansasspecialeducation licensure in a timely manner.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of teachers, administrators, staff, families, and the public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, table, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement lessons based on district and school objectives, and the needs and abilities of designated students. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents. Demonstrate skill in oral and written communication. Ability to analyze test and other assessment data for use in making curricular decisions. General computer skills, including internet research skills and data entry. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear and sometimes walk. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be regularly required to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, reach, twist, and lift up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 100 pounds.
