Assists with the creation and administration of professional development plans including budgeting, contracts, substitutes, Wake Learns, and communication.
Stays abreast of trends, research, and best practices for instruction by attending professional development events, utilizing social media, and communicating with other professionals within and outside the district.
Collaborates with SES teams in order to align literacy, math, and behavioral instruction and assessment to support the WCPSS/SES strategic plan mission, vision, and goals.
Regularly visits schools providing targeted support and assistance to specialeducationteachers, with a special emphasis on new teachers, as outlined in identified best practices for transition, instruction, and behavior support.
Attends IEP/Functional Behavioral Analysis (FBA)/Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) pre-planning meetings and scheduled meetings, as determined appropriate, to establish processes for building capacity at the school level.
Assists Senior Administrator with the allocation process for specialeducationteachers and instructional assistants.
As applicable, provides programming and resources to support the completion of all graduation requirements to facilitate students with disabilities with graduating on cohort.
As applicable, promotes instruction in self-determination, self-advocacy, social/interpersonal skills and work-related behaviors to provide career related and transition planning information to teachers, students, and parents.
Performs other related duties, as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, staff members of external funding agencies, and the community. Work is considered light physical work, requiring the exertion of up to ten pounds of force. The work frequently requires driving automobile equipment.

KIPP Durham Middle School staff for the 24 - 25, 25- 26, and 26-27 school years are refounding KIPP Durham Middle School to improve student achievement outcomes. To this end, KIPP Durham Middle School staff receive a salary boost to compensate for an increase in hours and responsibilities to their roles that are different from similar roles in the KIPP North Carolina Public School Network. For the 25 - 26 school year, the following will be required of all KIPP Durham Middle School instructional staff:
School Work Hours 7:30am - 5pm Monday - Thursday, 7:30 - 3:45pm Fridays
Outside of work hour requirements: Providing Saturday School for students who are in need and when asked by school leadership, and providing Summer Academy for students during instructional staffs' summer break.
Curriculum, materials, and resources are provided
Each month teachers have Teacher Work Days that include professional development, data analysis, and other important information to push their students' learning forward
