In-Person Tutoring in Menifee, CA
Schedule: 60+ hours a month, 4 sessions a week for 2 hours
Pay range is between $25 and $35
Ideal Candidate:
Must be a credentialed teacher with experience working with students on the autism spectrum.
Skilled in literacy, math readiness, and behavior-supportive instructional strategies at the elementary level.
Familiarity with ABA principles, visual supports, and positive-behavior interventions.
Patient, calm, structured, and able to maintain a predictable learning environment.
Creative, engaging, and bubbly while also providing firm, consistent boundaries.
Capable of designing customized lessons aligned with the student's IEP goals and long-term development in academics, life skills, and self-regulation.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide structured instruction in foundational literacy skills, including phonics, sight-word development, reading comprehension, and early writing skills.
Support foundational math skills, including number sense, early addition/subtraction concepts, word problems, and functional math (e.g., telling time).
Incorporate multi-sensory, visual, and interactive teaching strategies to promote engagement and understanding.
Implement clear routines, consistent reinforcement, and predictable structures to support emotional regulation and reduce challenging behaviors.
Navigate behavioral and sensory challenges calmly, including hyperactivity, frustration, or occasional self-injury or aggression.
Integrate preferred interests-such as geography, music, Star Wars, fidget tools, and educational games-into lesson activities.
Support social studies awareness, grammar foundations, and introductory independent living skills.
Conduct an initial assessment to determine current academic levels and guide individualized lesson planning.
Collaborate with caregivers and, when appropriate, the student's ABA team to maintain consistency across environments.
Adjust instruction based on sensory needs, providing breaks, incentives, and accommodations as necessary.
