JOB GOALS: Develop and implement the individual education program for students with disabilities.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assess the needs of individual students.
2. Determine students strengths and weaknesses.
3. Develop behavior management programs for individual students as needed.
4. Maintain and utilize data collection to monitor and analyze student progress.
5. Develop an individual education plan/specific program for each student based on diagnostic/assessment data.
6. Utilize instructional strategies to implement individual education plan for each student.
7. Create and maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning in both appearance of instructional station and activities therein.
8. Counsel with students on individual needs for their academic, personal, social and career improvement.
9. Ensure that substitute will have all information necessary for effective instruction.
10. Plan, prescribe and direct the learning activities of students.
11. Prepare and follow effective lesson plans.
12. Train and supervise para-educators and volunteers.
13. Follow adopted district guidelines and procedures for implementation of programs for students identified as having special needs.
14. Participate as a team member in all aspects of a student=s educational program.
15. Assist in development of school and district curriculum.
16. Supervise students in corridors, in restrooms, in lunch rooms and on school grounds in accordance with district policy.
17. Assist in the enforcement of school regulations at all times.
18. Participate in all prescribed in service programs.
19. Maintain and make reports on necessary records for pupil accounting, pupil progress, material and equipment inventories.
20. Check attendance and report absence and tardies.
21. Submit required specialeducation reports and student progress reports.
22. Sponsor clubs and activities on an equitable basis.
23. Inform parents of each student=s education program regularly through home visits, phone calls, etc. and work to make parents an integral part of the team.
24. Schedule, attend and complete required paper work for Programming/Annual Review Conference/Referral Conference/Re-evaluation, etc.
25. Attend and participate in evaluation conferences.
26. Take responsibility for issued materials and equipment.
27. Maintain specialeducation files.
28. Have a working knowledge of all federal and state legislation and regulations which pertain to the rights and responsibilities of students with disabilities.
29. Know Board of Education policies, Desegregation Plan, and district and school guidelines/regulations and adhere to same.
30. Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary Range: Teacher Salary Schedule. Placement depends upon education and experience.
Length of Contract: 190 days per contract year

Primary Responsibilities:
Individualized Instruction:
Provide direct instruction to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in both inclusive and resource settings.

Serve as a resource to general educationteachers, providing strategies, accommodations, and modifications to support students with disabilities in the classroom.
Work closely with school administrators, counselors, and related service providers (e.g., speech therapists, occupational therapists) to ensure students receive necessary supports and services.
Provide professional development to school staff on specialeducation best practices, behavior interventions, and inclusive strategies.
Behavioral and Social-Emotional Support:
Develop and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) for students with behavioral needs, in collaboration with the school counselor and other staff.
Teach and model social-emotional learning strategies to help students develop self-regulation, interpersonal skills, and resilience.
Work with the school's emotional intelligence framework to support students' emotional well-being and help them overcome barriers to learning.
Data-Driven Instruction:
Use data from a variety of sources (e.g., assessments, progress monitoring, classroom performance) to drive instruction and monitor the progress of students with disabilities.
Participate in the development and implementation of Response to Intervention (RTI) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) processes for students who require additional academic or behavioral interventions.
Maintain detailed and organized records of student progress, behavior, and performance as required by federal and state regulations.
Family Engagement:
Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, IEP goals, and any concerns or updates.

Qualifications:

Job Description
We are seeking passionate, mission-driven Social Studies Teachers to join our founding Arkansas team for the 2026-27 school year. As a founding teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping a joyful and rigorous middle school experience for our scholars and building long-term family and community relationships from day one. Position Responsibilities:
Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence. Attend staff meetings, and serve on committees as required. The approximate school day for staff runs from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Effectively instruct students in assigned content area(s) as prescribed by IOTA's academic content standards through direct instruction, demonstrating, and using audio-visual aids and other materials to supplement presentations with the overall goal of engaging student learning.
Work as part of an interdisciplinary team and within content areas planning and aligning curricula to ensure that instruction follows curriculum guidelines or requirements of state and school.
Set clear short-term and long-term goals to drive instruction.
Develop and submit weekly and long range lesson plans containing standards, objectives, essential questions, assessments and lesson plans; assign lessons and review homework.
Consistently use data to evaluate pupil progress, record results, and issue meaningful reports to inform parents of progress.
Create and implement student intervention plans when necessary for students.
Maintain the school's student management policies and procedures (i.e. attendance records, dress code, etc.) and report to the school administrators when necessary.
Maintain effective supervision and discipline in the classroom.
Work with other teachers and administrators to address and resolve student needs.
Provide necessary accommodations and modifications for growth and success of all students.
Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
Lead and participate in student activities such as: sponsoring student activities or student organizations, coaching a sports team, working with parents and the community as part of a committee or group, provide morning or after school supervision, and chaperoning student activities.
Abide by all state and federal mandates in reporting sexual or physical abuse and neglect.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required
Must have an ArkansasTeacher's license for Middle School Education 4-8 or Social Studies 7-12
