QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications for Special Education Teacher:

Position Overview
The Special Education Middle School Teacher, you are a KIPP Minnesota Team member and will directly lead instruction with students. Special Education teachers co-teach alongside a general education teacher in an inclusion or resource classroom setting to support all students and lead small group instructional spaces. They will plan daily lessons that lead to high levels of student achievement and build and support a school-wide culture and excellence.

Qualifications

The hourly pay range is $15.75-$18.00 based on experience and qualifications. In addition,
this school participates in the Minnesota Great Start Compensation Support Payment Program to provide financial compensation to eligible childcare providers!

Key Responsibilities
Classroom Support & Child Engagement
Assist with diapering, feeding, transitions, and learning activities
Engage children in meaningful interactions that support development
Step into classrooms to support Assistant Teachers during breaks or absences
Environment & Operational Support
Help maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and routine
Support setup and cleanup of materials and classroom activities
Report supply needs or safety concerns to the leadership team
Provide support and assistance throughout the school.

6 months experience working with children preferably in an early childhood settings required
CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
Meets all state-specific licensing and experience requirements

Frequently lifts or moves weight as in lifting, carrying, and holding children and infants of 10 to 60 pounds
Ability to bend, reach, and move freely between classrooms
Regular and reliable attendance

Maranatha Christian Academy (MCA) is a private Christian school serving Grades Pre-kindergarten through 12 in Brooklyn Park, MN. Our vision is for every Maranatha student to be highly educated, Christ-centered, and biblically anchored world changers. MCA currently accepts applications for pre-service teachers and related staff for its Summer Residency Program for the summer of 2026.
Summary
Maranatha Christian Academy has exciting opportunities for college students or recent graduates in Teaching and Student Ministry Programs, and licensed teachers who want to further develop their classroom management & teaching/supervising skills. Summer Resident Teachers and Staff will assist with planning, teaching, and leading the summer program activities for pre-kindergarten through grade 6 students in the classroom, on the playground, and on field trips during the MCA summer program. The program runs from June 3-August 14.
Additionally, this program is designed to support your development as a teacher by training you in MCA's New Teacher Induction Program for the first 3 days of Summer (June 3-5). Throughout Summer Residency, you will be provided with coaching and feedback to support your development as a classroom teacher. Regular Staff Meetings will also support your professional growth. Post-summer feedback and recommendations will be provided for you upon the successful completion of the summer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned).
Contribute to a positive, mission-aligned summer experience for all students and staff.
Organize weekly activities in coordination with the Summer Program Director.
Prepare materials, supplies, and classroom spaces for daily student engagement.
Assist with arrival/dismissal procedures.
Maintain accurate reports and required documentation, as needed.
Uphold program values, policies, and expectations for professionalism.
Reflect on instructional practices and implement feedback from supervisors or coaches.
Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and planning sessions.
Supervise students during class, transitions, meals, recess, field trips, and dismissal times.
Build strong, supportive relationships with students and parents.
· Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times.
· Manage minor conflicts and student concerns using restorative or positive discipline approaches.
· Follow MCA's discipline policies and procedure guidelines for expected student behavior.
· Supervise field trips and swim days off campus for your students.
· Maintain the required safety training, which will be provided for you by MCA.
· Maintain a professional appearance of cleanliness and modesty in agreement with MCA school policy
