QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree in a directly related field
Valid Texas teacher certificate with required SpecialEducation endorsement or required training for subject and level assigned. For example, Core Subjects EC-6 or 4-8 plus SpecialEducation Supplemental.
ESL, preferred. If candidate does not have ESL, he/she will be given 1 year to obtain certification.
Experience:
One year of student teaching or approved internship

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum and show written evidence of preparation as required.
Implement an instructional or skill development program for assigned students and show written evidence of preparation as required.
Work collaboratively with administrators, team leaders, and general educationteachers to deliver IEP services and supports in the least restrictive environment for individual students.
Collaborate with students, parents, and other staff members to develop and progress monitor Individual Education Plans (IEP) through the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) process for each student assigned.
Plan and use a variety of appropriate instructional and learning strategies, techniques, activities, materials, technology, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles, instructional, communication, and social-emotional needs of students.
Use data frequently to monitor student progress towards meeting IEP goals; adjust instructional and intervention services and supports as necessary to ensure students make progress.
Scaffold instruction and accommodations and adapt activities to ensure equal access to grade level instruction.
Utilize the most effective collaborative teaching techniques and strategies in inclusion supported classrooms.
Plan, deliver and progress monitor individual and small group direct instruction for students who require intensive intervention for behavior, academics, developmental skills, communication, etc.
Participate in ARD committee meetings on a regular basis.

Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required

ADMINISTRATION AND FISCAL/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
Operate office equipment, assistive technology devices, classroom audio-visual technology, and use computer to retrieve and send email and use district required system/software.
Maintain classroom organization and cleanliness.
Comply with all district policies, operating procedures, legal regulatory requirements, and verbal and written directives.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
STUDENT MANAGEMENT
Interact with students professionally, calmly, intentionally using language for teaching and de-escalation.
Implement individual student behavior intervention plans (BIP) for student academic and social emotional success.
Regularly assist students with disabilities across all settings according to their needs, including but not limited to, safe transfer to and from wheelchairs, lifting, positioning, and use of assistive technology.
Implement systems to safely and effectively transition students.
Provide, supervise, document, and report personal care as stated in the IEP and district requirements, while maintaining student dignity and safety.
SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals and teachers.
Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
Ensure that all interactions with students, district personnel, and parents are supportive, courteous, and respectful.
Maintain confidentiality of student information per FERPA requirements.

The successful Early Childhood Music teaching candidate will provide group-based music instruction to students (birth to 5 years of age) and families. The Peabody Preparatory's Early Childhood program is a leading edge, research-based, 20-year established curriculum developed and adapted by Dr. Eric Rasmussen, department chair, from the Music Learning Theory of Dr. Edwin Gordon. Successful candidates will receive training in the Early Childhood Music curriculum at Peabody Preparatory as part of the onboarding process.
Candidates should be experienced in working with young musicians and have basic skills on keyboard, guitar, or other chordal accompanying instruments.
Duties:
Depending on location, teaching up to 3 classes per campus over the summer (6 weeks), with classes offered on Saturdays and possibly another weekday morning. DEPARTMENT SYNOPSIS:
The Education Department supports CASA's multi-generation approach to education through engaging youth and their families in the attainment of educational opportunities for all. Across its footprint, CASA partners with, initiates, and fosters strong relationships between public school systems and immigrant families. Additionally, the Education Department oversees CASA's efforts to improve educational outcomes for immigrant students and their families through coordinated interdepartmental efforts within the organization. The department also supports CASA's expanding education policy work in strategic partnership with CASA's Department of Politics & Communications.
The Education Department's Life Skills ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Program uses the teaching methodology of Popular Education to address the educational needs of its adult learners and provide them with otherwise unavailable educational opportunities. Lessons are focused upon concrete and practical everyday experiences. Students, as adults, come to class with experiences that they are encouraged to share and peer teach while performing tasks. Class materials are geared towards student's life experiences and promote both civic engagement and community empowerment. The classes also provide students with the linguistic skills and systems understanding needed to make positive and long-lasting social change within their community in coordination with CASA's organizing and advocacy efforts in the fight for immigration reform, workers' rights, universal equality, and racial equity.
POSITION SUMMARY:
CASA is seeking passionate ESOL Teachers to facilitate evening English classes for adult learners using a Popular Education approach rooted in social justice, civic engagement, and real-world communication. In this role, you will create and lead interactive lessons that build language skills while empowering immigrant and working-class communities.
This opportunity is part-time and temporary, operating under an independent contractor agreement. Teachers will be paid a total of $6,208.00 for the winter/spring 2026 contract period. Independent contractors must complete a 1099 form and are solely responsible for all applicable federal, state, and local taxes. This role does not include CASA-sponsored benefits. All candidates must provide proof of up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination upon acceptance of a contract offer.
Classes meet Monday through Thursday from 7:00-9:00 PM via Zoom, with occasional Friday make-up classes. Teachers must commit to teaching all scheduled evenings and attending mandatory orientation and trainings. Mandatory orientation will be held virtually via Zoom on 1/20/26, 1/21/26, 1/22/26, 1/26/26 and 1/27/26 from 6:00-8:00 PM.
The contract covers two eight-week sessions:
Winter: 2/2/26 - 3/26/26
Spring: 4/13/26 - 6/4/25
Total contract period including orientation, trainings and class instruction:
1/20/26 - 6/5/26
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create engaging and practical lesson plans for working adults that include materials, culture, and technology relevant to their authentic life experiences.
Develop class activities that deepen learners' understanding of social justice and build power and leadership from within CASA's immigrant and working class members.
Teach functional English grammar and conversation skills to adult learners of diverse professional and educational backgrounds. Teaching is done in the target language and focuses on giving the learner opportunity/purpose for communicating.
Evaluate student needs and progress by monitoring student work, providing opportunities for conversation. Record and update class attendance and student data on a daily basis.
Proctor and grade CASA's life skills ESOL pre-test at the start of the session and four life skills ESOL post-tests over the course of the session.
Administer periodic quizzes and conduct information assessments throughout the session to ensure that lessons address relevant student needs and that the learners have acquired the target language skill.
Keep students informed of CASA services and events.
Maintain a minimum average attendance rate of 70% and minimum retention rate of 75%.
Maintain constant communication with program staff and other instructors and promptly respond to emails from CASA staff.
Participate in periodic teachers' meetings and trainings as scheduled and incorporate lessons learned into future ESOL lessons.
Other duties related to the position as assigned by the supervisor.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in related field
TESOL certificate and/ or experience teaching ESOL or adult continuing education preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Experience as a facilitator and/or in adult continuing education
Effective in leading dynamic and engaging ESOL lessons that focus on communicative, group-oriented tasks
Highly computer literate including proficiency and experience with Google Suites (PowerPoint/ Google Slides, Google Forms, Excel Sheets/ Google Sheets, Microsoft Word/ Google Docs); comfortable communicating with students in a virtual space including the assignment and review of homework and standardized assessments via the messaging platform Remind.com
Excellent English skills both spoken and written
Extremely punctual and able to consistently meet programmatic deadlines
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
Energetic and effective in student outreach
Experience working with learners of limited educational backgrounds and study habits
Able to embed lessons pertaining to low level computer literacy skills into daily ESOL themes
Flexible teaching style and ability to successfully execute a lesson plan that accommodates a variety of learning styles to ensure that all students progress at the same pace
Energetic and extremely patient when working with self-conscious learners
Respectful of all cultures and believe that everyone is capable of learning a new language
