SUMMARY: Special Education Teachers are responsible for the overall operation of assigned classroom, including student evaluation, ensuring student Behavior Plans are implemented with fidelity, and the design and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Develop and implement viable and productive lesson plans and educational experiences for students within the framework of each student's assessed strengths and needs. The Special Education Teacher will provide overall direction and supervision of their assigned classroom in coordination with Chileda's programming goals. JOB DUTIES: Follow lesson plans created by classroom teachers to direct students and DSPs with classroom activities. Ensure staff and students remain on schedule and engaged in daily lessons and activities. Act in a supervisory capacity for Direct Support Professionals when assigned to classroom, directing implementation of academic and behavioral programming as outlined in students' individual plans. Report and record areas of concern with the Education Manager and/or Director of Special Education. Maintain Skills Trainer certification for the Short-Term Empowerment Program, including all required training. Accept all other duties as assigned by Educational Manager, including working in the capacity of a DSP as needed. When acting as a long-term substitute teacher, the substitute teacher will also be responsible all Classroom Teacher Specific duties listed above.
