MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Instructional Strategies
Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
Present subject matter according to guidelines established by TexasEducation Agency, board policies and administrative regulations.
Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
Conduct regular assessments of students as indicated by the Regional Day School Program for the Deaf (RDSPD).
Work cooperatively with general and specialeducationteachers to modify curriculum as needed for specialeducation students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
Work with other members of the RDSPD staff to determine instructional goals, objectives and methods according to district requirements.
Communicate with students using sign and voice during instruction.
Provide communication access to students who are deaf / hard of hearing at all times (interpreting).
Provide an oral emphasis for students as specified in the IEP using oral/aural instructional techniques.
Provide instruction in the State Adopted Extended Core Curriculum for students receiving instruction from a teacher of the deaf / hard of hearing. Also, use district alternate curriculum when indicated by the IEP.
Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s), interpreter(s) and volunteer(s).
Use instructional technology to strengthen teaching/learning.
Student Growth and Development
Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
Participate as a member of the IEP team.
Document student progress on IEP's.
Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
Be a positive role model for students. Support the mission and vision of the school district.
Classroom Management and Organization
Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students.
Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, RDSPD administrator, principals and teachers.

Provide consultation and collaborate with ECI staff, otologists, audiologists, sign language interpreters on staff and from agencies, classroom teacher assistants, SSA member districts and AISD support staff including RDSPD administrative staff.

Bachelor's degree with an academic minor or major (minimum of 18 credit hours) in the core academic subject areas to be taught
Bachelor's degree and documented successful, relevant work experience in the content area to be taught, established by at least one year of employment in a specific field or occupation that required the educator to demonstrate knowledge or skill in the content area. This is to be supported by a professional letter of recommendation from the educator's employer or supervisor.
Experience:

Responsibilities and Duties:
Prepare effective lessons, instruct, and motivate students in all course study utilizing classical traditional methods of instruction.
Assign lessons and correct classwork and homework in a timely manner.
Administer formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress, record results, and issue reports informing parents of progress.
Provide academic interventions for struggling students.
Maintain student grades, classroom calendar, and student-parent communication via the school's online grading and communication tool.
Maintain discipline in the classroom.
Maintain a classroom that is conducive to learning, safe, attractive and stimulates a spirit of inquire.
Set a good housekeeping example in the classroom and encourage students to follow this example.
Regularly communicate with students and parents to discuss student progress - positive and negative.
Participate in required faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops.
Inspire, praise, and correct students with consistency, care, and interest to encourage academic success and promote virtue.
Work closely with SpecialEducation and 504 teachers to ensure accommodations are implemented.
Perform duties such as sponsoring one or more activities or student organizations, assisting students in selecting courses of study, and counseling students in adjustment and academic problems
Actively participate in marketing and student recruiting activities as necessary.
Perform special projects, during and after school hours, and other duties as assigned (after school hours may include, but are not limited to, tutoring, morning and afternoon student drop-off and pick-up duty, pageants and award ceremonies).
Read and comply with the RES Employee Handbook, the RES Student-Parent Handbook, the Campus Handbook, and other RES-Founders manuals and procedures documents.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
