About the role!
Under the direction of the Head of Schools, the Teacher- Elementary School carries out the primary responsibility for planning and delivering instruction based on Common Core Standards and Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
As a Teacher-Elementary School, you will:
Plan, organize, and deliver academic instruction, differentiating as necessary to address student learning needs.
Develop and maintain a working knowledge of each student's learning challenges based on available records and current observable data. Formulate goals and objectives to address student needs and implement appropriate instructional programs to facilitate progress.
Assist the Behavior Specialist with monitoring the schoolwide Positive Behavior Training (PBT) management system at the classroom level.
Monitor each student's progress against content standards and IEP goals by administering formal and informal assessments, constructing a portfolio of student work samples, and maintaining records of student grades as applicable.
Conduct three formal parent-teacher conferences per year with follow-up written summary; communicate progress via phone and email as necessary.
Prepare and update written annual IEP goals and progress summaries.
Present progress and proposed goals at IEP meetings to district representatives, parents/guardians, and any other attendees.
Under the direction of the Mentor Teacher, serve as a test administrator for the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress .
Co-facilitate weekly team meetings with the classroom Behavior Specialist.

Seek to work on an interdisciplinary team.
Practical knowledge/experience implementing Common Core Curriculum, Universal Design for Learning, and strategies for differentiation of instruction.
Demonstrated ability to identify accommodations and interventions that will facilitate an optimal learning experience for each student.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Experience preparing and presenting Individual Educational Plans (IEPs).

Brief Description of Duties
We are seeking qualified lecturers to teach U.S. history courses on a part-time, temporary basis depending on department needs. Specific courses include HIST 15: Essentials of U.S. History and HIST 170S: American Identities & Institutions. HIST 15 is a 3-unit, lower-division survey course in U.S. history that fulfills the American Institutions graduation requirement (Area US1). HIST 170S is a 3 unit, upper-division survey course in U.S. history that fulfills the US1 requirement and also the Area S: Self, Society, and Equality in in SJSU Studies. Candidates should expect to teach in-person, on campus.
* Candidates with U.S. History teaching experience are preferred.
* Candidates must be prepared to teach courses as assigned by the department chair in accordance with course descriptions and General Education requirements.
* Candidates must create fully compliant syllabi and other course materials; conduct class sessions as scheduled; meet with students as required; use Canvas and other appropriate instructional technology; attend faculty and college meetings; maintain student records (enrollment, attendance, grades, and assessment); and follow all CSU and SJSU policies and guidelines.
* Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a student population of great diversity-including age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation-through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.

SuperCamp Facilitators bring their depth of knowledge of the curriculum, systems thinking, and leadership skills to create the culture of camp. Through their understanding of youth and their behavior, they are able to mentor both campers and staff.
Qualifications
★ Bachelor's Degree or higher by summer

★ Willing to accept guidance, direction, and supervision from manager and peers
★ Ability to memorize and deliver large amounts of curriculum with accuracy

★ Available and willing to live in university dorm setting during length of program
Responsibilities:
★
Facilitate Quantum Learning and life skills curriculum to a large group (up to 150 people) and lead large & small group discussions
★ Receive and give coaching & feedback to improve and maintain the quality of the program
★ Create engaging and dynamic academic course room sessions with the Quantum Learning curriculum
★ Provide context and assistance to any other role in delivering excellent customer service to campers and parents

Under general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator II, performs a variety of duties and responsibilities to assists with daily operations of the Special Needs Adult Day Program at Sorensdale Center. The Program Aid will assist in facilitating educational, vocational, and recreational training for persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities to help them achieve their educational goals, while respecting and encouraging Person Centered Thinking. Due to the varied and individual needs of each participant, Special Needs Program Aids may provide a variety of support and assistance and should be flexible adjusting to participant needs. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Incumbents in this class are primarily responsible for performing Program Aid duties in the Special Needs Program. This class can be distinguished from the class of Special Needs Program Instructor as this class does not have Program Instructor responsibilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Incumbents may not perform all duties. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Aid in delivery of educational instruction designed by Special Needs Program Instructors to help participants meet educational, academic, life skill, behavioral, physical, social and emotional goals Ability to lead small groups of special needs participants in classroom or community-based setting Oversee and ensure safety of participants during program hours Respect and encourage person centered thinking Give personal assistance to participants as needed, may include, dress, cleaning, self-care and toileting Gather and maintain information for Individual Service Plans Monitor activities in facility, aid and ensure compliance with District regulations, maintain facility security, and report any facility issues related to safety May open, secure facility before and after program use; prepare facility and set up furniture and or equipment for scheduled activities/events Aid with administrative duties related to photocopying, gathering supplies and set up of program supplies Aid in retail duties in on site Thrift Store, such as handling and organizing merchandise, selling items, and providing excellent customer service Aid in gardening duties, such as watering, planting and picking fruits and vegetables for lunch program Assist special needs participants in classroom settings such as, but not limited to: Art, Computer Education, Cooking, Gardening, Functional Math, Health and Fitness, Music and Literacy Classes Aid in getting participants on and off daily transportation/ bus services Assists in the lunch program, overseeing participants during lunch Assist in the implementation of ongoing programs, classes and special events Maintains good public relations Participates in training sessions and regular staff meetings May provide input regarding program planning At all times, demonstrates cooperative behavior with colleagues, supervisors, volunteers, participants and the public Performs other duties as assigned WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this position. * Standard safety rules and regulations related to public recreation activities
Education/Experience/Training:
* Completion of high school
* One-year previous experience with special needs populations and programs is desirable
* Must possess standard First Aid/CPR/AED and must maintain certifications thereafter as a condition of continued employment
* Possess a CA Food Handlers Certificate and must maintain certifications thereafter as a condition of continued employment
* Experience in MS Office Program: Excel, Word, Access, Outlook
Special Requirements:
* Must be at least 18 years of age
* Completion of the Hepatitis B vaccination series is recommended
* Provide proof of negative TB Skin Test
* Must pass a fingerprint and/or background clearance prior to employment
