1. 8. Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
9. Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
10. Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
11. Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods.
12. Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Superintendent, the Director of Special Services is responsible for overseeing the programs within the Special Services Department: SpecialEducation, Title III, Gifted and Talented, School Nursing, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Family Education Rights and Privacy Act, Homebound, and Homeschool. The Director of Special Services is responsible for administering all programs as prescribed by state and federal requirements, ensuring appropriate and compliant staffing ratios, and implementing programs that provide appropriate services to student populations served by this position. This position reports directly to and is evaluated by the Superintendent.

Develop, staff, and administer compliant SpecialEducation, School Nursing, Gifted and Talented, English Language Learner programs, including training staff on district policies and procedures.
Administer Section 504, FERPA, homebound, and homeschool programs in compliance with state and federal requirements, including training relevant district and sight level staff on district policies and procedures.
Develop and implement district policies and procedures specific to the programs this position administers.
Maintain, collect, and report all data required under state and federal program.
Write, manage, and implement pertinent state and federal grants.
Manage district level budgets for each program administered.
Collect, maintain, and report required data elements for each program administered, as per program requirement.
Provide professional development for all Special Services Staff working in programs administered, e.g., IEP, Section 504, GT, etc.
Organize and provide professional development for District and Site Level Administrators specific to the implementation of state and federal program requirements.
Work with all site administrators and School Improvement teams to create, implement and maintain effective SpecialEducation, 504, Gifted & Talented and ESL programs.
Attend and participate in all district level meetings; collaborate with district and site level staff to problem solve issues and concerns related to programs administered.
Attend IEP/Section 504 meetings which may be contentious or litigious.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT:

POSITION SUMMARY: The specialeducationteacher is responsible for establishing teaching strategies which are goal oriented and based upon proven instructional techniques that are designed to benefit students with disabilities within a comprehensive life skills program. Instruction is related to functional curriculum domains; domestic, vocational, recreational, community, functional academics. The specialeducationteacher maintains strict confidentiality with regards to records and information that has been obtained in the course of professional service with respect to students, parents, and other staff members, unless disclosure serves professional purposes or is required by law.
The specialeducationteacher demonstrates acceptable command of the English language in written and oral communication.
The specialeducationteacher carries out clerical duties such as attendance, budgeting of materials, recording of grades, etc., promptly and accurately.
The specialeducationteacher attends and participates in all required training.
Manage and assign additional adult student's support as necessary i.e. paraprofessional.
Maintain accurate and timely records in PowerSchool.
Provides instruction that is related to functional curriculum domains; domestic, vocational, recreational, community, functional academics;
