General Description:
Under the general supervision of the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, the Educational Technologist (ET) serves as the college's primary administrator of the Learning Management System (currently Canvas) and provides instructional technology support to faculty, staff, and students across the institution. This role encompasses technical oversight, collaborative problem-solving, and strategic implementation of educational technologies that enhance multimodal instruction and support student success.
The ET works closely with faculty and staff to provide responsive LMS support, instructional media assistance, guidance on adopting and utilizing accessible, effective technology solutions, and learning outcomes analytics support. This role supports training development, cross-listing, term setup, and troubleshooting for Canvas and other integrated tools (such as Zoom, Panopto, etc.). The ET may also provide basic course design resources, directing faculty to evidence-based teaching strategies and UDL principles.
Essential Functions:
* Administer the college's LMS (currently Canvas), including term setup, course creation, cross-listing and merging, enrollment accuracy, and third-party tool integrations
* Co-administer the institution's digital assessment platform (currently Insights for Canvas Outcomes), including user roles and permissions management, configuration and optimization for Canvas, and troubleshooting issues related to outcomes and assessment functionality
* Provide technical assistance to faculty and staff in the use of instructional technologies, both in real time and through a ticketing system
* Partner with faculty to match instructional needs with appropriate technologies, emphasizing evidence-based practices and digital accessibility
* Support the implementation and evaluation of emerging educational tools, such as AI-assisted teaching supports, media platforms, and analytics dashboards
* Provide training and resource development (videos, guides, Canvas modules) to assist instructors with integrating technology into online, hybrid, and face-to-face courses
* Assist with troubleshooting LMS-related issues, including sync errors, code verification, user roles, and data inconsistencies
* Provide light instructional design support such as aligning course objectives with assessments, rubrics, and basic course structure
* Support media creation and accessibility compliance, including captioning, file formatting, and Universal Design for Learning principles
* Coordinate communication with faculty regarding LMS policy compliance (e.g., publishing deadlines, incomplete setup)
* Serve as a technical lead in resolving LMS and tool-related support escalations in coordination with Tech Services and vendors
* Assist with circulation, maintenance, or setup of classroom media and instructional tech tools when needed
* Collaborate with other Center for Teaching and Learning staff to build faculty capacity through onboarding, workshops, and targeted support
* Liaise with academic departments, deans, state-level LMS groups, and vendor representatives
* Participate in quarterly institutional planning, assessment, and faculty professional development initiatives as needed
* Other duties as assigned
* Strong working knowledge of Canvas or another major LMS (e.g., Moodle, Blackboard, D2L); Canvas preferred
* Skill in instructional technology support, including troubleshooting, explaining tools clearly, and documenting workflows
* Ability to build productive partnerships with faculty around technology use and course development
* Ability to evaluate and advise on new technologies, tools, or LMS features
* Ability to interpret and apply accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to support faculty in creating inclusive instructional environments
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, including those necessary to develop help documentation and training materials
* Comfort with audio/video tools, screen capture software, and instructional multimedia workflows

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is hosting two Pathway Summer Schools (PSS) for the Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Science, sponsored by the Office of Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS). The WDTS Pathway Summer Schools create innovative pathways for students with the goal of attracting young students from all backgrounds toward building a STEM talent pool. DOE WDTS PSS at PNNL programs focus on building science identity, enhancing STEM efficacy, and stimulating interest in learning and careers of importance to DOE mission.
Our PNNL Office of STEM Education and Workforce Development (OSEWD) is seeking undergraduate students who are interested in STEM studies or careers to participate in a 6-week active learning experience this summer at the Richland campus. Students of all backgrounds and experiences are encouraged to apply.
The internship runs from June 23, 2026 through July 29, 2026, and participants must be available to start on June 23 and work up to 29 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Led by OSEWD and guided by a summer school team of mentors, including experienced researchers trained in STEM education, summer school students will:
* Prepare for WDTS internships and STEM studies.
* Develop an understanding of PNNL's critical minerals and materials and artificial intelligence research portfolios in the WDTS PSS Critical Minerals and Materials Program.
* Develop an understanding of PNNL's energy, the power grid, and artificial intelligence research portfolios in the WDTS PSS Energy and the Grid Program.
* Develop a professional portfolio.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
* Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with SpecialEducation endorsement.
* Minimum of a bachelor's degree.
* Assist in supervision and instruction for paraeducators or willingness to learn.
* Design and implement standards-based IEPs and behavior intervention plans.
* Participate in functional behavioral assessments.
* Successful experience with a co-teaching model or willingness to participate in training.
* Prior experience or demonstrated knowledge of implementing multi-tiered interventions for academics, behavior, and/or social skills.
* Willingness to share and collaborate with grade level partners to meet district and/or school improvement plan(s).
* Design specially designed instruction for students with a range of disabilities to access general education curriculum.
* Participate in professional learning communities as determined by district personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:
* Previous successful classroom teaching experience.

This position will involve working as a substitute/on-call paraeducator supervising students who have special needs. The person in this position will work with disabled students who have significant physical disabilities in the life skills, autism and tier II behavior classroom settings and during additional school settings. This position will also act as a substitute 1-1 paraeducator when needed. The paraeducator will work as a team with the specialeducationteacher, other paraeducators, and specialists. Duties will include carrying out educational instruction, diapering, feeding or tube feeding, lifting and positioning the student. The paraeducator may be required to administer medication and/or catheterize student(s) with training. The paraeducator will be involved in keeping documentation to help monitor the student's progress. The paraeducator will perform all duties of the position within the scope of Kennewick School District policies and procedures. Other job-related duties will be performed as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provide direct support to Life Skills, Autism, Tier II Behavior and 1-1 students under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher(s), using prescribed formats.
* Correctly follow specific directions from the teacher by the implementation of data collection, classroom rules (i.e. student and adult), classroom set-up and/or specific student directives.
* Take appropriate and thorough data on correct forms as directed or assigned by teacher(s); complete required paperwork with accuracy and efficiency to maintain compliance with state and school district regulations.
* Provide support for physical/health needs of student(s) as required. This could include, but is not limited to toileting, wheelchair transfers, etc. Training will be provided by nurses and motor therapists, as necessary.
* Assist teachers with needed clerical or instructional tasks, including making copies of worksheets, flashcards, and creating specialized materials.
* Assist in supervision and control of students in order to promote a safe, orderly, positive learning climate.
* Supervise student(s) during recess times within the school day; play and interact with assigned student(s), including being in close proximity and role-modeling.
* Assist specialists (P.E., Music, Library, Technology) in supervision of assigned student(s) as required.
* Perform all duties of the position within the scope of Kennewick School District policies and procedures, including regular attendance and punctuality
