Special Education Teacher Key Responsibilities:
Lesson Plan Development: Create effective lesson plans to be submitted each Friday for the following week. Plans should accommodate various student levels, include procedures for assessing knowledge, outline the content standards addressed, and specify the curriculum used.
Supervision of Paraprofessionals: Oversee and direct paraprofessionals assigned to the classroom. While Program Supervisors and Site Administrators will assist in supervision, it is the teacher's primary responsibility in the classroom.
Implementation of PBIS Program: Manage the classroom's Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) program, including tracking behavior points, maintaining the student store, and communicating with parents/guardians. Ensure daily documentation of behavioral data in Point Quest's database.
Classroom Management: Maintain a classroom environment that prioritizes student engagement and safety, implementing the behavior plan, modifying state-adopted curriculum, and employing strategies to effectively teach students with various disabilities.
IEP Meetings and Documentation: Attend IEP meetings for students assigned to the classroom. Write updates for each student's annual IEP in coordination with the school district, and enter all IEP updates (Present Levels, BIP, ITP, and Goals) into SEIS 7 days prior to the scheduled meeting.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other staff and outside agencies to effectively educate each student.
Instructional Planning: Plan instruction and design learning experiences based on data. Conduct summative assessments with each student no less than three times per year.
Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development activities, including twice-monthly teacher meetings and monthly all-staff trainings. Teachers are encouraged to engage in additional professional development outside of Point Quest.
Special Education Teacher Qualifications:
Education & Credentials: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Special Education strongly recommended. Valid CA Special Education Credential (Intern, Preliminary, Clear, Level 1, Level 2 acceptable). Educational Specialist Credential in Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe disabilities, depending on classroom assignment.
Experience: 2-5 years working with students with learning and/or social-emotional needs. Experience in running a special day class and implementing curriculum and behavior interventions.
Skills: Proficient in written and verbal English, including business writing and professional communication. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Computer-literate with knowledge of standard software applications and internet.
Certifications & Clearances: DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background & TB Clearance required. Pro-Act, CPI, and/or CPR certification preferred.

Preference is given to candidates who are eager to engage fully in the school community by moderating clubs, coaching athletic teams, and serving as adult leaders on retreats, all while upholding and celebrating the schools faith-based identity. Responsibilities include:
Develop Rigorous Lessons: Create and deliver culturally relevant, challenging lessons that align with the Advanced Placement Human Geography curriculum as outlined by the College Board, including adherence to the pacing guide and guidelines.
Curriculum Writing and Analysis: Regularly develop and update course materials using backward planning, assessment data, and ongoing curriculum analysis to meet the needs of all students while staying true to College Board standards.
Data-Driven Instruction:
Use student assessment data to refine lesson plans and provide targeted interventions and enrichment, helping each student thrive.
Engaging Classroom Environment: Foster an engaging, dynamic classroom that challenges students while accommodating their diverse learning styles.

The Social Studies teacher reports to and will work directly with the founding Principal and Founding Assistant Principal and Collaborate with the Coordinator of Academic Support and Learning. Required Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor's Degree Social Studies or a related field, with a minimum of 12 credit hours in education preferred. A Masters Degree is a plus.
You have a Permanent Teacher Certification in the subject area.
You bring 3-5 years of teaching experience, with experience in marginalized communities being a strong advantage.
You have training in Geography education, Social Studies, Advanced Placement teaching strategies, or working with students with special needsthis is preferred but not required.
You are able to pass a background screening.
Youre proficient in using technology in the classroom to enhance student learning.
Youre committed to consistent, on-time attendance for supervising and instructing students.

Preferred Experience and Skills
Strong knowledge and experience in teaching Advanced Placement Social Studies, with a thorough understanding of the College Board curriculum, pacing guide, and exam requirements.
Ability to develop and implement an Social Studies curriculum that aligns with College Board standards while incorporating real-world applications and engaging teaching strategies to enhance student learning.
Experience in utilizing AP-specific assessments and data to monitor student progress, adjust instruction, and ensure students are well-prepared for the AP exam.
Ability to support at-risk students by developing individualized academic plans and working collaboratively with peers, parents, and the leadership team to ensure student success in Social Studies.
Proficient in educational technology, data analysis tools, and student performance tracking to improve curriculum effectiveness and optimize student outcomes in AP coursework.
Familiarity with AP exam preparation resources and strategies to support students in achieving high scores on the Social Studies exam.
Proficiency in Spanish is preferred to better engage with a diverse school community.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other relevant technology platforms for curriculum planning, communication, and student data management.

Job Responsibilities
