DESCRIPTION:
The Special Education Teacher designation develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities; evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives; follows State mandated due process procedures and functions as IEP Manager to assigned students. The Special Education Teacher plans, and administers the special education instructional program and classroom operation in compliance with guidelines and regulations determined by the administration, Board of Education, state and federal agencies. The teacher will create an environment that encourages learning, motivates students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to establish and continue a firm foundation to perpetuate the learning experience through the post secondary education and/or career opportunities. The Special Education Teacher will utilize all the resources available to establish a cooperative relationship with parents, staff members and administrators to support each student's opportunity to learn and grow in educational and life experiences. The position of Special Education Teacher shall include active participation in the school's operation to support a positive learning environment.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

9. Conducts special education evaluations and reevaluations.
10. Provides direction, supervision, and evaluation input of special education assistance, as directed. 11. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Curriculum Development and Administration
Initiate, oversee, and guide the experiences of the daily classroom program.
Plan developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for young children
Responsible for the safety, well-being, engagement, emotional, and physical needs of all children enrolled in the program.
Maintain children's developmental assessment and portfolio files.
Develop and carry out program components required by the California Department of Education (CDE), the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), and Federal Food Program (CACFP).
Represent the ASI Children's Center in relation to the campus and community when appropriate.
Oversee the daily health of each child including medication disbursement as appropriate.
Oversee the maintenance and cleaning in the classroom and yard areas; reporting discrepancies, safety and/or health concerns to the Director.
Lead planned disaster drills (earthquake or fire per quarter) per month, per classroom.
Assist with recommendations for parent engagement opportunities.
Parental Communication and Relationship
Plan, schedule, and hold quarterly parent conferences.
Communicate on a daily basis with parents regarding their child and/or various classroom information.
Plan and facilitate quarterly parent engagement opportunities.
Provide an enrollment conference for each new family and maintain effective supportive relationships with families.
Assessment
Develop and execute assessment of programs and/or services for areas of responsibility including but not limited to setting and implementing goals, evaluating outcomes and ongoing enhancement.
Participate in the overall ASI assessment planning and goal setting.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Represent ASI on committees as appropriate.
Ensure continuous professional development.
Actively participate in core staff meetings; share ideas and provide feedback in group discussions.
In absence of Director, assume responsibility for Center operations as delegated.

In an initiative to expand its teaching and research program within the Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree program, the department invites applications from a broad spectrum of qualified individuals with a commitment to undergraduate teaching and research in physical activity in special populations. The selected individual will primarily teach upper-division core courses in the Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree program, including Physical Activity and Aging, Adapted Physical Activity, Physical Activity and Public Health, and at least one course in Research Methods, Athletic Training, or Introduction to Kinesiology. DESCRIPTION:
The Special Education Teacher designation develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities; evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives; follows State mandated due process procedures and functions as IEP Manager to assigned students. The Special Education Teacher plans, and administers the special education instructional program and classroom operation in compliance with guidelines and regulations determined by the administration, Board of Education, state and federal agencies. The teacher will create an environment that encourages learning, motivates students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to establish and continue a firm foundation to perpetuate the learning experience through the post secondary education and/or career opportunities. The Special Education Teacher will utilize all the resources available to establish a cooperative relationship with parents, staff members and administrators to support each student's opportunity to learn and grow in educational and life experiences. The position of Special Education Teacher shall include active participation in the school's operation to support a positive learning environment.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Credential: Valid California teaching credential with an authorization to teach Special Education in a Moderate/Severe setting.
Valid California teaching credential authorization to teach Autism.
CLAD/BCLAD/EL Authorization (Emergency permits are not accepted).
• Education: A Bachelor's Degree, including all courses and/or exams needed to meet credentialing and subject matter competency.
• Experience: As mandated by the state, and accepted by the school district.
• Personal Qualities: Resourceful, innovative, helpful, diligent, persistent, and a willingness to work with colleagues and students.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. INSTRUCTIONAL:
1. Provides research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student's IEP.
2. Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques.
3. Employs various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals. 4. Develops and implements annual Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans for students to include: present levels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals and objectives, and the special education and related services required to meet those goals.
5. Schedule team meetings and works cooperatively with child study team members and others in developing instructional goals and strategies.
6. Coordinates the delivery of special education services in each student's IEP.
7. Creates a positive learning experience with emphasis in individualized instruction using appropriate sources and technology.
8. Services as the primary contact for the parent.
9. Conducts special education evaluations and reevaluations.
10. Provides direction, supervision, and evaluation input of special education assistance, as directed. 11. Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of special education and specialty area; including through knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching of students with disabilities. 12. Ability to deliver and articulate oral presents and reports

Provides individualized and small group instruction (as necessary) to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.Determines the appropriate pace for instruction related to students' abilities and explains material and subject content to students and parents. Differentiates instruction for students based upon need and works with students and other teachers in inclusive settings
14. Establishes and maintains standards of behavior in the classroom and throughout the school to achieve a positive and functional learning atmosphere for students
15. Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares student progress reports, and provides accurate and constructive feedback to students and parents. (as necessary).
16. Uses data to improve the learning and instruction process.
17. Create and maintain an environment that fosters student creativity, critical thinking skills, academic achievement and the development of lifelong skills.
18. Show competence and confidence in working with new technology and various application packages.
B. STUDENT MANAGEMENT:
1. Maximize opportunities for student success by creating positive mentoring and working relationships with students and colleagues.
