GENERAL PURPOSE
The Co-Taught SpecialEducationTeacher supports the academic and personal success of virtual students with mild to moderate disabilities by collaborating with general educationteachers to deliver curriculum, implement accommodations and modifications, and provide targeted instruction in an online setting. This role includes monitoring student progress, communicating with families, and offering weekly synchronous check-ins and individualized support to ensure students meet IEP goals and access the general education curriculum.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Administers subject specific assignments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels.
Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; and developing methods for improvement.
Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration.
Analyzes performance data for the purpose of enhancing student achievement.
Collaborates with Launch Online Staff, curriculum facilitators, other school personnel, and parents for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes and achieving established major instructional goals.
Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective education that addresses individual student learning.
Differentiates classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.
Facilitates student learning (e.g. creating a learning environment, integrating technology, encouraging learning environment, facilitates collaboration) in pre-designed courses for the purpose of achieving success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills through pre-determined learning outcomes.
Maintains a variety of confidential and non-confidential files and records (e.g. grades, test scores, student evaluations, IEPS, anecdotal records, lesson plans, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date information, historical references and documenting student progress in accordance with established guidelines and legal requirements.
Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment
Participates in a variety of training and meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
Prepares a variety of written materials to document student progress and fulfill mandated requirements.
Reports health and safety issues to administrative personnel and/or appropriate agencies for the purpose of maintaining students' personal safety, a positive learning environment and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines and legal requirements.
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. other teachers, parents, administrators) for the purpose of resolving issues, providing information and/or direction.
Supports classroom teachers for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of established curriculum and/or individual student plans.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in job-related area, required
Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements:
K-12 specialeducation certification in Missouri in one or a combination of the following areas: Mild-moderate disabilities (includes LD, BD/ED, MR, OHI), cross-categorical, hearing impaired, visually impaired or severe developmental disabilities, required
Ability to gain and maintain “Highly Qualified” status as defined by Missouri's Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, required
Background clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required
Must have consistent access to high-speed internet and be able to provide your own device.
Must reside in the State of Missouri. Exceptions may exist for teachers employed with Missouri Launch partner districts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge is required to deliver age-appropriate lessons with clear objectives and relevant measurable outcomes facilitate group rehearsals and instruction; incorporate appropriate technology; communicate high standards and expectations for each lesson; create an environment conducive to learning; provide relevant feedback to students; manage classroom routines and behavior.
Skills are required to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: maintaining organized records, preparing and maintaining accurate records; applying assessment instruments; and operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications.
Ability is required to gather, collate and/or classify data; and use job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: developing and maintaining positive relationships; setting high expectations for self and others; setting and monitoring progress toward goals; utilizing and offering effective feedback to continuously improve; collaborating and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders; applying critical thinking/problem solving to improve work processes; adapting to changing work priorities; maintaining confidentiality; exhibiting tact and patience; and working flexible hours.
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; directing other people within a small work unit; utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Must possess the physical ability to work primarily with fingers, perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Instructs students improving their success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills through a defined course of study.
Monitors students in a variety of educational environments providing a safe and positive learning environment.
Manages student behavior providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals providingfeedback to students, parents and administration.
Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.
Administers developmental testing programs, subject specific assessments, etc. for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
Counsels students improving performance, health status, problem solving techniques and a variety of personal issues.
Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments providing an effective program that address individual student requirements.
Directs student teachers, paraprofessionals, volunteers and/or student workers providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
Facilitates student learning achieving success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills through defined lesson plans.
Maintains a variety of manual and electronic documents files and records providing up-to- date information and/or historical reference in accordance with established administrative guidelines and legal requirements.
Participates in a variety of meetings and workshops conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
Prepares a variety of materials documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements.
Reports health and safety issues to assigned administrator and appropriate agencies
maintaining students' personal safety, a positive learning environment and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
Responds to emergency situations resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
Respondsto inquiries from a variety of sources resolving issues, providing information and/or direction.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in job-related area, required.
Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements
Possession of Elementary 1-6 MissouriTeacher Certification required.
Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
