    The Cox Science Center is seeking a part-time Visitor Experience Technical Educator to support the operation, maintenance, and public engagement of interactive, technology-based exhibits and educational tools. This position blends front-facing educational responsibilities with back-end technical oversight and will be responsible for daily floor programming, including the operation of our new humanoid and four-legged robots. This role is ideal for a tech-savvy educator who enjoys working with both technology and people, especially in a hands-on, interactive environment. Reports to: Visitor Experience Education Manager Duties and Responsibilities Deliver engaging, technology-enhanced educational experiences for guests of all ages, including stage presentations and hands-on activities. Maintain, update, and troubleshoot exhibit technology, including robotic hardware and software. Implement procedures for the daily use of the Science Center's robots. Monitor and respond to real-time technical issues in public exhibit spaces to ensure minimal disruption to the visitor experience. Report any damages or component replacement needs to the Visitor Experience Education Manager immediately. Ability and willingness to quickly learn and adapt to emerging technologies, including software updates, new user interfaces, AI systems, and coding platforms, with a curiosity-driven mindset and strong problem-solving skills. Facilitate both table activities and hands-on STEAM Studio programming and/or crafts for visitors. Activity setup and breakdown are part of this responsibility. Interact with guests of all ages in a professional, respectful, and engaging manner to encourage interest in STEM careers. Adhere to all policies and safety procedures set forth by the Science Center. Perform other related duties as required pertaining to this position. Qualifications Minimum high school diploma required; at least two years of college education preferred. Demonstrated interest or background in public education related to science, technology, engineering, arts, or math (STEAM). Strong oral communication skills, with the ability to confidently engage guests and coworkers in both educational and operational settings. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, with flexibility to cover other roles within the Visitor Experience Department as needed. Experience working with children and the public in educational or informal learning environments. Theater, stage management, or live event experience is a plus. Additional Requirements Must be able to lift at least 80lbs comfortably and perform physical tasks related to exhibit setup, handling robots and maintenance Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time Availability on weekdays, weekends, and occasional evenings for special events The Cox Science Center is a drug-free workplace.
