OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible for administering customer accounts throughout the bankruptcy and foreclosure processes, which includes performing collection and administrative duties to support the Bank’s special assets function.
KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Communicates with delinquent borrowers in attempting to obtain late payments, using various means of contact such as telephone, letters, and email and answers any questions from customers regarding delinquent accounts;
- Compiles, updates, and analyzes the necessary documentation and information needed to complete related administrative items;
- Files legal materials and responds to correspondence and inquiries from customers and attorneys;
- Monitors accounts throughout the bankruptcy, foreclosure and/or OREO processes to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
- Produces departmental reports and maintains accurate files;
- Utilizes methods of resource recovery under terms of the loan contract, depending on the feasibility and applicability of each case;
- Repossesses collateral on secured items if the delinquent situations that require such action;
- Establishes and maintains records relating to delinquent loan accounts and updates delinquent account files;
- Reviews bank records and transactions to resolve misapplied payments;
- Evaluates payments being made on delinquent accounts and determines how the payment will be applied; and,
- Maintains control over delinquencies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- High School diploma or GED;
- Experience in collecting delinquent accounts;
- Excellent computer, analytical, and mathematical skills are required.
- Proficiency in MS Office software; and,
- Excellent communication and interpersonal relations skills.
Preferred:
- One to three (1-3) years of comprehensive experience in lending and collections preferred; and,
- Basic knowledge of consumer finance, bankruptcy, repossession and relevant consumer protection provisions under federal and state law.
