This position is responsible for daily management, collection and negotiation of problem loan relationships in the Special Assets department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Daily management of assigned account relationships to ensure loans are appropriately graded and treated in a manner consistent with the Bank’s Credit Policy, guidelines, and accounting and regulatory requirements
•Responsible for the timely, efficient and cost effective handling, management and resolution of criticized assets. This includes timely procurement, review and analysis of financials, appraisals/valuations and site/business inspections and the timely and accurate completion of Problem Loan Reports and impairment analyses
•Propose solutions for the effective resolution of problem assets and lead negotiations (under the supervision of the Deputy Chief Credit Officer) to effect these solutions promptly and efficiently while minimizing risk of loss to the Bank

OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for administering customer accounts throughout the bankruptcy and foreclosure processes, which includes performing collection and administrative duties to support the Bank’s special assets function.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Communicates with delinquent borrowers in attempting to obtain late payments, using various means of contact such as telephone, letters, and email and answers any questions from customers regarding delinquent accounts;
  • Compiles, updates, and analyzes the necessary documentation and information needed to complete related administrative items;
  • Files legal materials and responds to correspondence and inquiries from customers and attorneys;
  • Monitors accounts throughout the bankruptcy, foreclosure and/or OREO processes to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
  • Produces departmental reports and maintains accurate files;
  • Utilizes methods of resource recovery under terms of the loan contract, depending on the feasibility and applicability of each case;
  • Repossesses collateral on secured items if the delinquent situations that require such action;
  • Establishes and maintains records relating to delinquent loan accounts and updates delinquent account files;
  • Reviews bank records and transactions to resolve misapplied payments;
  • Evaluates payments being made on delinquent accounts and determines how the payment will be applied; and,
  • Maintains control over delinquencies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • High School diploma or GED;
  • Experience in collecting delinquent accounts;
  • Excellent computer, analytical, and mathematical skills are required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software; and,
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relations skills.

Preferred:

  • One to three (1-3) years of comprehensive experience in lending and collections preferred; and,
  • Basic knowledge of consumer finance, bankruptcy, repossession and relevant consumer protection provisions under federal and state law.
