The Department of Professional and Continuing Education (Extension) at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary, part-time instructors to teach on-site and online courses for our Child Life Online Program for upcoming openings. We are seeking qualified applicants who possess current subject matter expertise and have a passion for teaching in the following programs and courses.
Child Life Online
Instructor duties include but are not limited to:
* Make appropriate adjustments to continually improve the syllabus, curriculum and course materials. May be based upon programmatic and/or student feedback.
* Prepare and deliver course materials and design learning assessments.
* Design interactive and motivational classroom activities to fully engage participants and to reinforce student learning.
* Stay current within the subject, discipline or field of practice.
* Use subject-matter expertise and leverage additional resources appropriately to enhance the curriculum.
* Communicate teaching objectives and specific learning outcomes to students, and clearly outline/explain the grading policies for the course.
* Respond to student questions and learning needs in a timely manner.
* Employ culturally competent and inclusive teaching methodologies in the classroom (including teaching non-native speakers and/or students with academic letters of accommodations for learning disabilities).
* Evaluate student achievement of specific learning outcomes and assign grades.
* Post final student grades to the transcript system within two weeks of course completion.
* Handle student inquiries about final grades and consult with Program Director as needed.
* Retain student records according to University policies.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Behavioral and Educational SupportSpecialist provides comprehensive support to students by addressing both their behavioral and academic needs. This role involves working closely with students, teachers, and other school staff to enhance the learning environment by managing behavioral challenges while assisting students with academic tasks. The specialist aims to foster a positive and inclusive educational experience by promoting behavioral growth, academic success, and social-emotional development.
Working Conditions

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
High school diploma required; Associate degree or coursework in education, psychology, special education, or a related field is preferred.
Previous experience working with students in an educational setting is highly preferred. Experience supporting students with behavioral challenges and academic support is a plus.
Must have a valid California Driver License and car insurance
Must have reliable transportation to ensure consistent and timely attendance.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Behavioral and Educational SupportSpecialist provides comprehensive support to students by addressing both their behavioral and academic needs. This role involves working closely with students, teachers, and other school staff to enhance the learning environment by managing behavioral challenges while assisting students with academic tasks. The specialist aims to foster a positive and inclusive educational experience by promoting behavioral growth, academic success, and social-emotional development.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
High school diploma required; Associate degree or coursework in education, psychology, special education, or a related field is preferred.

Must have a valid California Driver License and car insurance

Crisis Management:
Assist in managing behavioral crises in the classroom by providing appropriate interventions and ensuring student safety.
Follow crisis intervention protocols when needed, ensuring that all actions are documented and reported appropriately.
Record Keeping and Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavioral interventions, and academic assistance.
Document student behaviors, academic achievements, and any challenges faced, sharing relevant information with the educational team.
Complete and document daily Medi-Cal progress notes to track services provided to youth, ensuring compliance with billing and electronic health record requirements.
Regularly checks email and uses a personal cell phone to communicate effectively with the team.

Under the general direction of the Associate Dean and Associate Director of Graduate Student Success, Retention & Systems, the Graduate Continuing Student Specialist performs moderately complex student services professional work that advances graduate student success from matriculation through degree completion and post-graduation outcomes. This position provides advising, analytical, and program coordination functions to support graduate student enrollment, retention, advancement to candidacy, degree completion, career readiness, and serves a critical role in the success of the 2026-2028 Graduate Stratefic Enrollment Management Plan. The incumbent works both independently and collaboratively with faculty, department staff, and university offices to ensure equitable and timely progress for all graduate students.
Position Information
Graduate Advising, Enrollment, and Academic Progress
Provide individualized and group advising to graduate students on academic policies, degree requirements, registration, leaves, and advancement to candidacy.
Guide students through university and program milestones, ensuring compliance with policies governing thesis/dissertation completion, time limits, and continuous enrollment.
Review, analyze, and process petitions (e.g., substitutions, leaves of absence, time extensions, excess unit petitions, and waivers of regulations).
Evaluate and update student records, including degree audits, transfer credit, advancement approvals, and award of degree in the student information system (Campus Solutions).
Serve as a liaison between graduate programs, the Registrar, and other academic units to maintain data accuracy and timely progression to degree.
Processes diploma orders each semester and diploma reissues throughout the year in collaboration with relevant university offices and vendors.
Retention and Student Success
Develop early alert and outreach systems to identify students experiencing academic, financial, or personal barriers; coordinate targeted interventions with advisors, counselors, and faculty.
Conduct post-first-year outreach and re-enrollment campaigns for students who pause enrollment, providing individualized re-entry guidance.
Host graduate student workshops and orientation events (e.g., Steps to Graduation, Advancement to Candidacy, Culminating Experience Preparation, and Thesis Formatting Q&A).
Manage communication campaigns -including targeted emails and text messages-to improve registration, re-enrollment, and degree completion.
Collect, analyze, and report student progression and retention data; recommend policy and process improvements based on findings .
Collaboration with Faculty/Department Support
Serve as a liaison for graduate program coordinators (faculty) on issues related to graduate enrollment, student progress, and degree completion.
Collaborate with departments to improve program processes (e.g., electronic forms, Advancement to Candidacy, petitions, and culminating experience submissions).
Represent Graduate Studies on work groups related to student success, retention, and degree completion.
Career and Post-Graduation Outcomes
Partner with the Career Center to develop specialized professional development opportunities for graduate students, such as workshops on academic and industry career pathways.
Support faculty and programs in tracking and reporting alumni career outcomes.
Plan alumni and professional networking events, such as the Distinguished Lecture Series, to connect current students with successful graduates and employers.
Integrate career readiness discussions into advising to help students align academic planning with long-term professional goals.

Help Group is seeking a qualified Peer SupportSpecialist to join our dynamic team at our Culver City Center This is an ideal position for individuals with experience and passion for helping young adults children with special needs reach their fullest potential. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to assist the teacher with all aspects of classroom instruction and behavior management, utilizing a positive, strengths-based approach
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have lived experience of being diagnosed with a mental illness and successfully transitioned to self-sufficiency or having a family member diagnosed with a mental illness with at least one (1) year of experience in providing peer support and community linkage and able to functions as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Associate or Bachelor's degree in related field (psychology, sociology, social work, special education or human services) preferred, bilingual in Spanish desired. High School Diploma/GED with proven experience of providing at least one (1) year peer and community supports to population with diagnosed mental health illness might be considered
Familiarity with principles of family-centered, strengths-based services. Knowledge of the community resources. Computer skills required and at least two (2) years' experience with using electronic tablets and mobile application technology.
Strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills necessary for cooperative working relationship with all levels of professional staff
Valid drivers' license, good driving record and reliable personal vehicle to provide in home service to families.
JOB SUMMARY
Active member of PIER Program Multidisciplinary Team (PPMT) whose goal is to increase early identification of psychotic disorder in youth ages 12-25 as well as increase knowledge of symptoms by those who live and /or work with them. PIER Program Community Worker will provide peer support to youth and family within the context of PIER Program Multidisciplinary Team and will coordinate in-house data collection to ensure that all clients complete electronic outcome measures for UC Davis Evaluation
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As PIER Team member, actively participate and engage in community outreach to identify schools, service providers, cultural and religious organizations, etc., that have contacts with youth 12-25 years and provide psychoeducation on recognizing symptoms of risk for psychosis to generate PIER referrals
Provide client and family support, act as advocate for client and family in all aspects of the PIER Program process. Assist in developing clients' crisis and safety plan, provide crisis intervention to clients on an as-needed basis.
Participate in PIER Program Multidisciplinary Team outreach activities, in case treatment meetings 2 x week, helping the engagement of child, family, extended family and informal resources.
Guide family through intricacies of service delivery system and assist families with contacting and following through with community resources.
Model and coach youth and family in such areas as communication skills, anger management, problem solving, stress management, appropriate discipline, accessing supports and resources etc.
Provide direct services to youth and families in a variety of setting, i.e., clinic, community, in home, as needed and appropriate
Assist clients, if needed to interface with DCFS, DMH, court systems, schools, employment resources and various community linkages.
Attend regularly scheduled weekly supervision, staff meetings, community meetings and other meetings as assigned.
Conduct all functions in accordance with Agency guidelines, policies and procedures.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Arrange work schedule or required hours to the benefit of the PIER Program and clients with approval of the PIER Program Coordinator
