The Speech-Language Pathologist consults with the Interdisciplinary Teams (IDT) to provide the best plan of coordinated speech/swallowing services for the participants. Full or part time - weekdays only. Methuen, MA area.
Essential Responsibilities:
Conducts initial Speech therapy evaluations and screens, develops individual treatment plans, implements appropriate interventions, and treats as appropriate.
Coordinates speech/swallowing services as they relate to direct patient care.
Records required documentation timely and per Organizational policy.
Prepares for and participates in pre-enrollment, care planning, debriefing, staff meetings and discharge planning. Attends family meetings as necessary.
Performs cognitive, linguistic, and swallowing evaluations as referred by the medical team.
Conducts education and training for the participant, family, and caregivers regarding speech therapy treatment.
Assists with the development of policies, procedures and applicable workflows.
Frequently contributes to the development and implementation of new ideas and methods.
Exercises significant independent judgment to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives.
Ability to pass a fit test. Position requires mask where seal is critical. Incumbent is required to not have facial hair that interferes with a tight seal of the respirator.
Frequent local travel.
Performs other duties as required.
Job Specification:
Master's degree in SLP from an accredited college or university
Current Massachusetts SLP license
Minimum of one (1) year of healthcare or clinical experience working with the elderly

Speech-Language Pathologists are to comply with state regulations concerning renewal of certifications and licenses.
Speech-Language Pathologists are expected to develop, update and adhere to both a daily and weekly schedule. Each school s principal should be provided with a copy of that schedule.
Speech-Language Pathologists are expected to comply with BPS rules, policies and procedures as well as those of their assigned school(s) and Unified Student Services.

I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Conducts diagnostic evaluations of various communication disorders in both children and adults. This may include, but is not limited to, language disorders, articulation deficits, auditory and auditory-perceptual deficits, voice disorders, stuttering and neurological disorders such as congential, developmental, or acquired. Assessment may include consideration of the physical status of the oral and vocal mechanisms, breathing patterns, vocabulary, language structure, articulation, voice quality, fluency, auditory processing, language integration, written language and such other parameters as may be deemed appropriate. Analyzes client's data and interprets test results to physicians.
2. Provides remedial treatment in both individual and group settings for children and adults with the above communication and swallowing disorders, utilizing clinical techniques appropriate to each type of disorder. Uses complex decision making to analyze each patient's problems and develop treatment interventions to maximize function in daily living activities.
3. Recommends, designs, and/or implements augmentative methods of communication such as communication boards and mechanical devices when oral and/or aural communication is not possible. This is done in conjunction with the patient, family and/or others.
4. Provides information about the communication disorders to patients, families and others.
5. Designs and establishes home programs and other activities which may be used for carryover or reinforcement of the therapy program.
6. Maintains records and reports necessary to the conduct of treatment. This may include, but is not limited to diagnostic evaluation reports, daily treatment notes, monthly physician renewals as appropriate, progress reports as appropriate or requested and losing summaries of treatment.
7. Confers with other individuals and/or agencies involved with the patient's program. This may include physicians and other related professions, school personnel, social service agencies and the like.

Responsibilities
Therapeutic Services
Deliver individualized and small-group speech and language therapy to students with IEPs across K-8.
Address a broad range of communication areas including:
Receptive and expressive language
Articulation and phonological processing
Fluency and voice
Social-pragmatic language and conversational skills
Design and implement Social Club programming for Autistic students using Social Thinking methodologies.
Assessment and Documentation
Conduct initial and ongoing evaluations, screenings, and assessments to identify communication disorders.
Develop, write, and update IEP goals and present levels of performance in collaboration with the IEP team.
Maintain clear, accurate, and confidential records including session notes, progress reports, and compliance documentation.
Ensure therapy and documentation adhere to IDEA regulations and school policies.
Collaboration and Consultation
Provide support to general education and special education staff with classroom strategies and interventions for at-risk or struggling students.

The Brockton Early Childhood Intervention Program is a public health program that provides therapeutic support to infants and toddlers who have developmental delays or are at risk for such delays. The Speech/Language Pathologist in Family-Centered Early Supports and Services (FCESS) will provide speech therapy, parent training, developmental assessment, service coordination and family support to infants and toddlers who are enrolled in The Moore Center's FCESS Program. Serve as service coordinator/case manager ensuring the coordination of all aspects of FCESS programming as outlined in the Individual Family Support Plan (IFSP), and facilitate effective communication among all IFSP team members.
Essential Responsibilities:
Work with children, families and other members of the FCESS team to provide comprehensive early intervention services for children enrolled in The Moore Center's FCESS Program
Serve as FCESS eligibility evaluator: complete written evaluation reports describing child's individual strengths, skill levels and areas for growth in all areas of development
Provide speech therapy recommendations and child development expertise during the development of IFSPs
Schedule and provide individualized therapy and service coordination for assigned children as detailed on the child's IFSP
Provide written “carry over” activity suggestions that help parents and caregivers support the child's progress and overall development between home visits/therapy sessions
Complete all paperwork in a timely fashion, as identified in the Paperwork, Policies & Procedures for FCESS Service Providers handbook
Maintain utilization /productivity rate of at least 50%
Support and guide families through the process of transitioning from FCESS to public preschool special education services or other community-based preschool activities as appropriate
