The Speech and LanguagePathologist reports directly to the Director of Children's Services.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
Screen and evaluate students with respect to speech and hearing functions.
Provide comprehensive speech and language evaluation for each student, including appraisal of articulation, voice, rhythm, and language.
Coordinate comprehensive speech and language evaluations for each student, appraisal of articulation, voice, rhythm and language.
Provide in-service training for parents.
Provide in-service training for staff.
Participate in interdisciplinary evaluations.
Provide testament services interpreted as an extension of the evaluation process that include:
a. Speech therapy for students in need.
b. Collaboration with appropriate staff to develop specialized programs for developing communication skills of individuals in the areas of receptive language, as well as expressive language.
c. Consultation with staff for speech improvement and speech education activities
Develop individual educational plans for each student.
Provide written summaries noting past therapy, from the present phase of therapy and any specific methods to be utilized with the student.
Provide written facility staff reports and discuss same, which will then be made part of student's record.
Proficiency in written and oral English required.
All other duties necessary in order to provide continuous services to individual.
PAY RATE: $65.00 hourly
Qualifications
The SpeechPathologist must be licensed to practice in New York State. Copies of said license will be made available and kept on file at the program site.

Position Overview
Supervised by the Assistant Principal of Student Services at the network, the Speech and LanguagePathologist (SLP) provides services for students with speech, language, and hearing impairments, helping students to adjust and access the general education curriculum. The SLP collaborates with teachers to support high impact language intervention and evaluations. Successful NSLPs consistently help students achieve - collecting, analyzing, and implementing data-based strategies regularly for both the students on their caseload and also students that have been identified as needing additional support. The SLP is in current possession of ASHA Certification and New York State license for Speech-Language Pathology. This position requires a positive, flexible, solutions-oriented, organized, and innovative specialist.
Core Competencies & Responsibilities
Provide evidence-based speech and language therapy to students, implementing both pull-out and push-in models based on individualized education plans (IEPs) and best practices
Develop and implement engaging therapy activities and materials aligned with students' goals
Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment for students with speech and language needs, enhancing access to general education and supporting progress toward individual goals
Collaborate with teachers, learning specialists, and other service providers to integrate speech and language goals into the general curriculum
Draft IEP reports in preparation for meetings and attend IEP meetings as needed
Provide guidance and support to teachers and staff in assisting students with speech and language needs
Maintain regular communication with families, keeping them informed of progress and providing guidance on supporting their child at home
Conduct speech and language screenings for students as needed
Offer support to students of various ages and linguistic backgrounds, addressing needs through a Response to Intervention-tiered model
Participate in MTSS and IEP meetings, provide guided reading instruction, and collaborate with contracted therapists
Coach and provide consultation for fellow speech-language therapists, including writing annual IEP reports and conducting interim assessments
Provide consultation and professional development for general education teachers and administrators
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, progress notes, and therapy plans
Report progress toward IEP goals three times per year (Goalbooks)
Complete treatment notes and progress reports promptly according to school policy
Manage a detailed log of services provided and missed due to student or therapist absences
Document all aspects of work with students in SESIS IEP according to school and state guidelines
Perform other duties as assigned

Completes and plans all required documentation in medical chart as required by Department guidelines and JACHO/CARF requirements. Clinical Documentation is thorough and completed using appropriate medical and clinical terminology.
PARTICIPATION: Participates in team meetings, case conferences and committees as assigned.
ORGANIZATION: Responsible for certain level of patient care productivity as indicated by individual Unit Procedures. Demonstrates the ability to provide expected patient contact as indicated by productivity reports and patient contact analysis.
EDUCATION AND SUPERVISION: May counsel patients and/or families in their adjustment to speech and language impairments. ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION: Assists in the examination of persons with speech and language disorders, upon medical referral, and the determination of the etiology, history and severity of specific disorders through interviewing and testing. Assists in the assessment, evaluation, analysis and treatment of communicative and social handicaps resulting from speech and language impairments and their predicating diseases. Assists in investigating and studying underlying causes, precipitating factors, symptomatic behavior and the emotional mid practical effect upon the patient of speech and language disorders.
PATIENT PROGRESS: Attends evaluation conferences and rounds to determine progress and prognosis of patients under treatment. Assists in the scheduling of examinations, preparation of preliminary case histories, summaries and reports on the therapeutic progress and goals of patients under treatment.
INTERVENTIONS: Assists in the planning and administration of remedial programs designed to restore or improve the communicative ability of patients with physiogenic or psychogenic speech and language disorders in order to produce, improve or restore appropriate speech thresholds. Assists in the treatment of speech and language disorders such as aphasia, articulatory defects, cerebral palsy, cleft palate, cluttering, delayed speech, stuttering and voice disorder including laryngectomy.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a A Master's Degree with a major in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college with three-hundred hours of supervised clinical experience in speech- language pathology. NYS SpeechLanguage Pathology License and ASHA Certification required.
CPR certification.
Preferred Licenses: SpeechPathologist Lic-NYS, ASHA Cert
