Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and discharge planning
Ensure compliance with NYSED, hospital policies, and evidence-based practice standards
Required Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Speech-LanguagePathologist in an acute care hospital setting
Demonstrated experience managing high-acuity and medically complex cases
Valid New York State Education Department (NYSED) license as a Speech-LanguagePathologist (required)
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
Strong clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment
Schedule Requirements
4 weekdays and 1 weekend day

Job Responsibilities:
OTHER: Participates in investigating methods to improve the clinical management of speech and language disorders and research related to the development of diagnostic and remedial procedures in the design of apparatus. ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION: Assists in the examination of persons with speech and language disorders, upon medical referral, and the determination of the etiology, history and severity of specific disorders through interviewing and testing. Assists in the assessment, evaluation, analysis and treatment of communicative and social handicaps resulting from speech and language impairments and their predicating diseases. Assists in investigating and studying underlying causes, precipitating factors, symptomatic behavior and the emotional mid practical effect upon the patient of speech and language disorders.
CARE PLANNING: Develops and implements a care plan that meets the identified needs of the patient and care partners. The care plan must include measurable short and long term goals with time frames.
INTERVENTIONS: Assists in the planning and administration of remedial programs designed to restore or improve the communicative ability of patients with physiogenic or psychogenic speech and language disorders in order to produce, improve or restore appropriate speech thresholds. Assists in the treatment of speech and language disorders such as aphasia, articulatory defects, cerebral palsy, cleft palate, cluttering, delayed speech, stuttering and voice disorder, including laryngectomy.
PATIENT PROGRESS: Attends evaluation conferences and rounds to determine progress and prognosis of patients under treatment. Assists in the scheduling of examinations, preparation of preliminary case histories, summaries and reports on the therapeutic progress and goals of patients under treatment.
EDUCATION AND SUPERVISION: May counsel patients and/or families in their adjustment to speech and language impairments. May counsel pre-operative or post-operative patients to prepare them for surgical procedures and appropriate post-operative therapy. Participates in Clinical Education of Fieldwork students and other professional. Teaches and supervises assigned students in Occupational Therapy techniques, skills and procedures. Demonstrates a genuine interest in assisting students in enhancing their knowledge and skill levels. Encourages positive learning experiences for Career Opportunity Students and other Non Fieldwork students.
ORGANIZATION: Responsible for certain level of patient care productivity as indicated by individual Unit Procedures. Demonstrates the ability to provide expected patient contact as indicated by productivity reports and patient contact analysis.
DISCHARGE PLANNING: Develops and implements discharge plan in conjunction with patient, care partners and other members of the care team.
PARTICIPATION: Participates in team meetings, case conferences and committees as assigned.
DOCUMENTATION: Completes all required documentation for patient care and reimbursement. Position Overview
Supervised by the Assistant Principal of Student Services at the network, the Speech and LanguagePathologist (SLP) provides services for students with speech, language, and hearing impairments, helping students to adjust and access the general education curriculum. Participate in MTSS and IEP meetings, provide guided reading instruction, and collaborate with contracted therapists

Provide consultation and professional development for general education teachers and administrators
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, progress notes, and therapy plans
Report progress toward IEP goals three times per year (Goalbooks)
Complete treatment notes and progress reports promptly according to school policy
Manage a detailed log of services provided and missed due to student or therapist absences
Document all aspects of work with students in SESIS IEP according to school and state guidelines

In this role, the Speech Therapist (SLP) will provide screening, diagnoses and treatment of children with various developmental delays in a variety of settings. Work with families and a team of other service providers to help achieve a child's IFSP or IEP goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement speechlanguage pathology evaluations for children 2.7-5 years old.
Must coordinate meetings in the families' home, community, or mutually agreed upon location to provide assessment of the child.
Conduct developmental assessment reports, including The Preschool Language Scales-5 (PLS-5) and the Goldman-Fristoe Test of Articulation-3 (GFTA-3) to determine areas of delay and write comprehensive evaluation report indicating the findings including developing SMART goals to be included in the development of children's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Maintain participant/family confidentiality.

Assists in the assessment, evaluation, analysis and treatment of communicative and social handicaps resulting from speech and language impairments and their predicating diseases. Assists in investigating and studying underlying causes, precipitating factors, symptomatic behavior and the emotional mid practical effect upon the patient of speech and language disorders.
PATIENT PROGRESS: Attends evaluation conferences and rounds to determine progress and prognosis of patients under treatment. Assists in the scheduling of examinations, preparation of preliminary case histories, summaries and reports on the therapeutic progress and goals of patients under treatment.
INTERVENTIONS: Assists in the planning and administration of remedial programs designed to restore or improve the communicative ability of patients with physiogenic or psychogenic speech and language disorders in order to produce, improve or restore appropriate speech thresholds. Assists in the treatment of speech and language disorders such as aphasia, articulatory defects, cerebral palsy, cleft palate, cluttering, delayed speech, stuttering and voice disorder including laryngectomy.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a A Master's Degree with a major in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited college with three-hundred hours of supervised clinical experience in speech- language pathology. NYS SpeechLanguage Pathology License and ASHA Certification required.
CPR certification.

Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Master's degree from an accredited college/university.

Essential Functions:
* Assist in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

* Assist in the early recognition and prevention of educational problems.

* Assist teachers in the development and implementation of curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies.
* Refer students and their families to appropriate community agencies and services.
* Cooperate with agencies serving students and their families.
* Provide therapy, follow-up, and/or consultation based on student IEP's.
* Motivate students through effective communication and evaluative feedback.
* Demonstrate awareness of the needs of students and provide for individual differences.
* Set high expectations for student achievement and behavior.
* Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with others.
* Establish and maintain a positive climate for learning through appropriate classroom management.
* Plan and implement transitional programs for students.
* Assist students in developing feelings of self-worth and in making social adjustments which permit them to cope with disabilities.
* Maintain appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reports.
* Order and maintain an adequate inventory of materials and supplies.
* Supervise and train staff members as assigned.
* Assist with public awareness activities which lead to a better understanding of the needs of exceptional children.

We're seeking a part-time Speech and LanguagePathologist who shares our goal: to get all our scholars to and through college.
Who You Are:
The Speech and LanguagePathologist (SLP) plays a critical role in supporting Harlem Gems preschool scholars' communication and language development. This part-time position serves both Harlem Gems centers, providing direct services, conducting observations, and offering coaching to teachers and families. The SLP will work closely with leadership, instructional staff, and families to ensure scholars at risk of or identified with speech and language delays receive high-quality, developmentally appropriate supports that promote kindergarten readiness.
What You'll Do:
Direct Scholar Support
Provide speech and language services to scholars identified as at risk or awaiting CPSE provider assignments.
Conduct individualized and small-group interventions to support language development, articulation, and communication skills.
Document progress and maintain clear, confidential records of services provided.
Observation & Assessment
Conduct classroom observations to identify scholars who may need additional support.
Take detailed notes and share findings with leadership, instructional staff, and families as appropriate.
Collaborate with teachers to integrate strategies into daily routines.
Collaboration with CPSE & Families
Participate in CPSE meetings and contribute to the development and review of IEPs.
Provide families with updates on their child's progress, offering strategies for supporting language development at home.
Serve as a liaison between Harlem Gems, families, and external service providers.
Teacher Coaching & Professional Development
Provide constructive feedback to teachers and staff on language-supportive practices.
Model effective strategies within the classroom.
Design and facilitate professional development sessions focused on speech, language, and communication best practices.
Hours:
Approximately 20 hours per week; however, exact hours are flexible depending on program needs.
Requirements
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
Valid NYS license in Speech-Language Pathology
Minimum five years of experience working with preschool-aged children, preferably in an urban, early childhood education setting
Strong knowledge of child development, language acquisition, and early intervention practices
Experience collaborating with CPSE, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred
