General Description
To act as itinerant in-person SpeechLanguagePathologist for the Santa Barbara County Education Office, Special Education Program. Responsibilities include assessment and instruction of students, and consultation for parents and teachers.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
* Conduct the Speech/Language Program as established by State and Federal regulations
and the Santa Barbara County Education Office.
* Review referrals and conduct Speech/Language observations at direct service districts
and/or County-operated programs as assigned.
* Conduct individual Speech/Language assessments, and prepare assessment reports and
recommendations for services.
* Serve as a member of the school Student Study Team.
* Assist in preparing individualized education programs suited to the needs of individual
students. Establish well-defined educational goals for students identified as having a
Speech/Language disability.
* Conduct Speech/Language therapy and assessments. Provide services following
consultation model as designed.
* Provide parent and teacher counseling and instruction related to the individual
student's speech and language skills; attend scheduled meetings, and confer frequently
with parents and professional staff members on student progress.
* Review student progress; keep up-to-date records on individual student progress, and
adjust instructional procedures as needed.
* Actively participate in in-service programs, and keep abreast of current clinical,
theoretical, and educational research in the profession.
* Assume responsibility for the safety and welfare of pupils and personnel.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
CaliforniaSpeech-Language Pathology or Clinical Rehabilitative Services Credential in Language, Speech, & Hearing, or Masters Degree in Communicative Disorders (or equivalent), plus a valid CaliforniaSpeech-Language Pathology License, and Experience and/or training appropriate to fulfill requirements of the position.

Provide stimulation of speech-language skills using research-based techniques (in both group and individual settings) in the areas of phonology, syntax, morphology, semantics, and pragmatics.
Research new information regarding intervention/treatment techniques, methods, assessment materials, available resources.
Recommend and assist in the procurement of assistive technology.
Provide consultation to classroom teachers, educational staff, administrators and parents.
Maintain records as required by law, Board policy, and administrative regulations.
Provide formal and informal training to educational staff and families in relevant areas focusing on speech-language therapy principles as they relate to the development and education of students with special needs.
Consult and collaborate with community agencies and general resources regarding speech and language therapy services for students.
Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the laws and policies governing Special Education and Early Intervention in California that pertain to the delivery of speech-language therapy services.
Participate in District programs, including MAA and LEA billing.
Attend and participate in faculty and staff meetings as required.
Other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor or designee.

Maintain the privacy of confidential information.

We are looking for a Speech-LanguagePathologist (SLP) for an immediate travel opening in Arroyo Grande, CA. The right SLP should have 1 year of experience; for an exceptional candidate with an appropriate background, 6 months of experience may be accepted. Read below for additional requirements.
As an SLP, you will be responsible for assisting patients with speech, voice, or swallowing impairments and evaluating and developing a plan of care for a variety of patient populations in the acute care setting.
Tasks
As an SLP, you should be prepared to perform the following tasks:
Diagnose, treat, and prevent speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
Create treatment and therapy plans to suit the individualized needs of a diverse population of patients.
Perform screenings to detect voice or speech disorders.
Educate patients and family members about speech disorders and causes, including disabilities and traumatic events.
Report progress and current status to appropriate parties, which may include family members, teachers, or medical professionals.
Provide timely and accurate documentation following state and/or insurance guidelines.
Requirements
Must have 6 months of experience; however, new grads are encouraged to apply. Must have BLS and ASHA-SLP National Certification with state-specific licensing.
Speech-LanguagePathologists should be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean or stoop without difficulty. SLPs must have a sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology.
