The primary responsibility of the Speech Language Pathologist is to prevent, evaluate, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders as ordered by physician. In this role, you are entrusted to ensure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to our residents at all times.
Provide skilled, medically necessary speech and language therapy assessments as well as develop and implement individualized treatment plans to increase client's independence and functioning
Provide augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems for individuals with severe expressive and/or language comprehension disorders
Provide training and education to client, family, caregivers and other professionals as a subject matter expert
Coordinate and collaborate with other professionals for diagnostic swallowing procedures (MBSS, FEES) as ordered by physician
Supervise as appropriate, provisional licensees, students including Clinical Fellowship year externs (CFY) and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards
Demonstrate competent technical skills according to current Speech Therapy standards of practice
Provide accurate and timely billing records and supporting clinical documentation
Perform screening rounds as directed by Director of Rehabilitation to assess for client needs and environmental safety
Provide recommendations to Director of Rehab and other team members opportunities for business improvement, safety concerns or other updates
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge of current Speech Therapy practices and procedures including laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities

Job Summary and Responsibilities In keeping with the Rehabilitation Department philosophy, the Speech Therapist performs all phases of speech therapy evaluation, treatment planning, treatment and documentation, and performs other tasks related to quality of care and effective department function. Performs such typical distinguishing duties as: evaluating patients, participating in the treatment program planning; administering speech therapy modalities, procedures and tests; documenting accurate patient records and progress notes; maintaining appropriate oral or written contact with the referring physician and co-workers. Ensures a clean and safe work environment by being alert for unsafe conditions and malfunctioning equipment and using appropriate procedures for their correction. Performs other related duties, such as participating in all departmental functions and activities as required, including in-service education, clerical and other tasks relevant to effective department function as necessary.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
* Licensed, or eligible for licensure, by the State of California Board of Medical Quality Assurance (LIC SLP)
* Current and valid CPR-AHA certification (CT CPR BLS)
