As a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLP-A), you spend most of your day utilizing your excellent communication skills as you interact with a diverse population of students, teachers, specialists, parents, and colleagues to improve the lives of the children you work with. You provide high-quality speech-language therapy services to students based on their IEPs/504 plans. Conducting evaluations, assessments, analyzing results, and writing reports, you determine the strengths and areas of concern in speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, language, and oral motor skills.
In order to support students in their overall educational improvement, you assist in developing treatment plans (IEPs/504 plans). Helping students become successful in a school setting and beyond through speech-language therapy, is meaningful work that builds a rewarding career. individual who skillfully implements a physician ordered speech- language therapy care plan as
planned, delegated and supervised by the Supervising Certified Clinical Competent Speech Language
Pathologist. Patient visits are predominately performed in private residence for home health care
agency.
Requirements:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
• Completes a minimum number of visits defined by the agency.
• Implements treatment plan as instructed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Instructs patients, their families and other members of the health team in regards to therapy procedures.
• Reports pertinent observations and reactions regarding changes in patient status to the supervising Speech Language Pathologist and the appropriate team person.
• Records relevant treatment data in accordance with agency standards and completes and submits all documentation in a timely manner.
• Assists the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist in preparation for patient care conferences and communicates with other members of the home health team to facilitate coordination of patient care.
• Participates in staff development and in-service education with the agency to learn new treatments, procedures, developmental skills, etc.
• Performs all duties in compliance with agency policies and procedures. Adheres to all rules,
regulations, code of ethics, guidelines and codes in federal, state and local laws which are concerned with the practice of speech language pathology.
• May be required to meet with supervisor, technical support personnel, staffing personnel, or other support staff as needed to maintain therapy standards and patient care.
• Incidental time is a part of the job responsibilities which includes, but not limited to, patient chart updates, patient notes and call logs, performance reviews, supervisory meetings, and drive time to patient's home.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Graduate with a bachelor degree from an accredited school program in Speech-Language Pathology.
• Currently licensed to practice as a Speech Therapy Assistant in the state of Texas.
• Relevant clinical experience with focus working with pediatrics' developmental delays.
• Must be physically and legally able to operate a vehicle.
