Title Home Infusion Field Nurse Remote, Southlake Campus / Career Interest: A Home Infusion Field Nurse will provide clinical expertise, coordination of care, and education for patients, physicians, nursing agencies, pharmacists, insurance case managers, and hospital based case managers in order to enhance and facilitate patient care. The Home Infusion Field Nurse will be responsible to provide essential in-home IV infusion medical treatment, response management and follow up care to our clients after receiving a physician order for nursing services. The Home Infusion Field Nurse will administer and monitor patient in the home during treatment and provide the necessary education on treatment regimen, condition management and treatment self-administration when appropriate. This is a multi-faceted role of nurse and trainer; and the individual must be calm, profession with the ability and willingness to work with a wide range of personality types in a variety of environments.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
* Provide patient clinical coordination in a variety of environments including home, hospital infusion clinic, and doctor offices.
* Initiates patient education prior to patient's hospital discharge to provide initial patient teaching on drug, equipment, etc. to allow for a safe discharge home related to home infusion therapy.
* Conducts a physical examination of the patient, including vital signs, physical assessment, mental status, etc. - Evaluates the patient's environment and educates family members in caring for the patient.
* Provides patient teaching and/or instructions of medication, disease process, use and maintenance of home infusion therapy and appropriate vascular access devices.
* Coordinates with pharmacists and others on the care team to address changes in patient condition or drug management issues.
* Documents all interactions and communication with patients and their plan of treatment, assessment, treatments, and responses/reactions to treatment, status of disease process and education in a timely manner.
* Complete training for new/specialty infusion therapies.
* Organizes and manages a patient caseload.
* Demonstrates compliance with professional standards, regulations, policies and procedures along with accreditation standards.
* Responds promptly and appropriately to patient and care team requests.
* Understands and articulates the University of Kansas Health System's scope of services.
* Participates in department on-call responsibilities.

Job Duties Outlined
Review and assist with editing of new protocols.
Assess feasibility of research protocols, including appropriate patient population, budget, and specific needs for the study.
Perform all details necessary for initiation and/or completion of all assigned research protocols, including patient recruitment, screening, scheduling, enrollment, examination, laboratory and diagnostic studies, medication dispensing, charting and recording of data (in EMR, case report forms, and Velos), organization of the study visits and reporting of abnormal results, adverse events, or other study required reporting.
Complete and correct case report forms, ensuring accuracy of all records connected with each study with attention to medical events and concomitant medications as well as documentation for each study related event.
Act as a liaison between study sponsors and investigators. Maintain accurate recording of all study test articles. Maintain complete and accurate documented studies in binders. Maintain knowledge of all research efforts conducted including those protocols or studies assigned to other coordinators.
Work with KUMCRI and other departments to construct the study package to include budget, approved protocol, procedures, discounts, billing, study contracts and other related documents and workflows.
Maintain current KUMCRI-required education, i.e., Human Subjects Protection, HIPAA. Adheres to GCP guidelines.
Promote marketing, in accordance with HSC rules, and research protocols.
Monitor awarded grants and contracts for compliance with performance, reporting, and accounting requirements.
Attend all staff meetings as well as meetings both onsite and off-site as required by study.
Serve as mentor for new staff members.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Title Nurse Coordinator - Controlled Substance Diversion Prevention Bell Hospital, Southlake Campus / Career Interest: The Controlled Substance Diversion Prevention Nurse Coordinator supports the organization by implementing and monitoring diversion of controlled substances across the health system. This position collaborates with internal stakeholders to monitor, evaluate, and enhance controlled substance diversion programs, and supports the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and educational initiatives related to controlled substance management.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
* Program Administration
* Support the Program Manager in strategic planning, project management, and performance tracking of controlled substance diversion prevention initiatives across the pharmacy enterprise.
* Work collectively with operational leaders to ensure proper controlled substance diversion prevention processes are implemented and maintained
* Maintain program documentation, dashboards, and reports to communicate progress, metrics, and outcomes to appropriate leadership and committees.
* Coordinate and facilitate meetings, agendas, and communications related to controlled substance diversion prevention efforts.
* Collaborate with operational leaders across the health system to educate and audit on all diversion prevention policies and regulations, and report to pharmacy leadership and regulatory bodies as required.
* Monitor and audit controlled substance transactions, inventory records, invoice reconciliation, and dispensing practices to identify potential diversion risks across the health system.
* Participates in policy/procedure development pertaining to drug diversion and controlled substances across the health system.
* Coordinates timely completion and reporting of significant loss via DEA106 to DEA and Board of Pharmacy
* Coordinates timely completion of reporting of any controlled substance destruction via DEA41.
* Diversion Prevention
* Collaborates with departments, clinics, and procedural areas to implement effective diversion prevention and effective controls are in place for the purchasing, receiving, distribution, administration, wasting, and return of controlled substances.
* Coordinate diversion prevention initiatives, including risk assessments, surveillance activities, and investigations of suspected diversion incidents.
* Maintain and analyze data related to controlled substance usage, discrepancies, and trends to identify areas of concern.
* Collaborate with healthcare leadership, HR, and Risk Management during investigations of potential controlled substance diversion and ensure appropriate documentation and follow-up.
* Acts as primary investigator for suspicious behavior identified via controlled substance monitoring software.
* Assists with monitoring of all controlled substance discrepancies within automated dispensing devices and ensures proper reporting to pharmacy leadership and Pharmacist in Charge across the pharmacy enterprise.
* Assist with monitoring and responding to Drug Diversion Response Team (DDRT) inquiries and investigations.
* Education & Training
* Assist in the development and delivery of training programs for pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals on controlled substance handling, compliance, and diversion awareness.
* Assist in the education of all controlled substance related policies and regulations.
* Assist in the development of end user training related to controlled substance use within automated dispensing cabinets and anesthesia work stations.
* Perform rounding and shadowing of healthcare employees to improve efficiencies and reduce controlled substance diversion risks across the pharmacy enterprise.
* Maintain training records and ensure timely completion of required education modules.

Title Ambulatory Clinic RN-Orthopedics Indian Creek Medical Office Building, Medical Pavilion, Quivira Medical Pavilion A 12000 W. 151st St. / Career Interest: The ambulatory clinic professional registered nurse has the authority, responsibility, and shift accountability for the delivery of nursing care using the nursing process. The Registered Nurse (RN) accepts accountability, applies competent clinical knowledge and uses independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by health care providers to who care is delegated to achieve quality patient care outcomes. The RN also must possess the ability to assess and interpret patient data needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
* Provides direct patient care within the ambulatory setting, based on the nursing process and within role/scope of practice.
* Preforms preliminary assessment of patients through observation and chart review to facilitate appropriate follow-up with the healthcare team.
* Evaluates unstable or complex patient care situations and facilitates appropriate intervention.
* Implements appropriate clinical decisions and demonstrates appropriate use of expert peers and/or management as applicable.
* Accepts accountability and uses independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by healthcare providers to who care delegated.
* Demonstrates the appropriate use of standards, effective use of resources and evaluation of patient response in the delivery of patient care.
* Identifies teach/learning needs of patient.
* Responsible for educational instruction to patients and families with health care needs.
* Evaluates effectiveness of patient and family teaching and makes documentation in patient's charts.
* Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls.
* Completes necessary forms (i.e. FMLA, DME, Home Health orders and obtains physicians signatures as appropriate).
* Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
* High School Graduate
* Associate Degree Nursing
* 6 months of RN experience
* 2 or more years RN experience to be an Ambulatory Clinic RN PRN
Preferred Education and Experience
* Bachelor Degree Nursing
Required Licensure and Certification
* Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Multi-State - State Board of Nursing Must have current active multistate state Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in state in which you live OR active single state RN license in good standing in the state you will be working with proof of application of a multistate RN license in the state in which you live. Staff hired prior to 2/1/2024 are required to obtain a multistate state RN license from the state in which they live at the time of their next RN license renewal by 3/31/2026.
* Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) (Non-Clinical) - American Heart Association (AHA) or obtained within 14 days

Title Ambulatory Clinic RN Care Coordinator - ENT Neurotology KU MedWest / Career Interest: The Ambulatory Clinic RN Care Coordinator is a licensed registered professional nurse who is a clinical expert who provides ethical, evidence-based, safe and compassionate nursing care. The Ambulatory Clinic RN Care Coordinator focuses on patient safety and the quality of nursing care by identifying and clarifying patient needs, performing clinic related patient care, conducting health education, promoting patient advocacy, coordinating healthcare services, and evaluating patient outcomes. The RN Care Coordinator will provide support to their assigned physicians by communicating with the patient/family/caregiver and relaying the information to the physician. They will provide support and nursing care services during the physician's clinic sessions and ensuring the patient/family/caregiver understands the plan of care. They will verify all orders placed during the clinic session have been completed and the physician has been notified of the results.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
* Responsible for management of patient flow, triage, and direct patient care.
* Liaison of communication between front desk staff, nursing staff, physicians, and clinic manager
* Manage the care of the patient population by developing expected patient outcomes, defining appropriate resource utilization, and working with the provider to set patient goals.
* Provide nursing support/coordination to the practice to optimize patient outcomes and to improve patient's quality of life through clinical and educational programs and/or support services.
* Support patient self-management of disease.
* Coordinate continuity of patient care with patients and families following hospital admission, discharge, and ER visits.
* Manage high risk patient care, including management of patients with multiple co-morbidities or high risk for readmission to a hospital setting, including a registry.
* Develop relationships with patients and competently uses assessment skills to identify physical, psychosocial, financial, and environmental health care needs of the patient.
* Educate the patient and appropriate ancillary personnel about the health care needs, safety issues and benefits which include patient education.
* Utilize available electronic tools, such as EMR, to efficiently document assessments, clinical finds, plans of treatment and progress toward goals.
* Observes, records and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians. Educates patient/family about diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition and maintenance of health and wellness.
* Maintains/reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Records tests and examination results and then follows up with patient. Posts tests and examination results.
* Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls. Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
* Maintains patient confidentiality.
* In providing patient care, document using EMR to maintain and/or develop patient records in compliance with practice standards
* Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
