Mr. Russo has served as Calix’s president and chief executive officer since December 2002. As Calix’s president and chief executive officer, Mr. Russo brings substantial expertise and knowledge regarding our business strategy, markets and operations to Calix’s board of directors. He also brings to the Board an extensive background in the telecommunications and networking technology industries. From November 1999 to May 2002, Mr. Russo served as vice president of optical strategy and group vice president of optical networking of Cisco Systems, Inc. From April 1998 to October 1999, Mr. Russo served as president and chief executive officer of Cerent Corporation, which was acquired by Cisco. From April 1995 to April 1998, Mr. Russo served in various capacities, including as chief operating officer, at Xircom, Inc., which was acquired by Intel Corporation. Previously, Mr. Russo served as senior vice president and general manager for the hyperchannel networking group of Network Systems Corporation and as vice president and general manager of the data networking products division of AT&T Paradyne Corporation. Mr. Russo served on the board of directors of Vital Network Services, Inc., a privately-held company delivering network lifecycle services, and Xirrus, Inc., a privately-held company providing products that enable high-performance wireless networks. Mr. Russo attended Swarthmore College and previously served on its board of managers.

Patrick Harshman has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Harmonic since May 2006. As CEO Patrick has driven Harmonic’s strategic re-positioning as the worldwide leader in video delivery infrastructure, and overseen the rapid expansion of the company’s customer base, international presence, and video product portfolio. He joined Harmonic in 1994 and prior to being appointed CEO held several other executive management positions for the company. Patrick earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida.

Angela J. Chou is a Staff Project Administrative Manager for David Heard, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at INFINERA CORP and is based in San Jose, California. She has worked as Executive Assistant to Chairman, President and CEO at MONOLITHIC POWER SYSTEMS INC; Knowledge and Communities Director at Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI)(工業技術研究院, 工研院); and Administrative Assistant & P-card Administrator at VIAVI SOLUTIONS INC.. Angela attended University of Southern California.

Frank Plastina was appointed President and CEO of Tekelec in February 2006. He brings more than 19 years of senior executive and management experience in the telecommunications industry with companies including Proxim Corporation, Warburg Pincus LLC and Nortel Networks Corporation. Prior to joining Tekelec, Mr. Plastina was executive in residence at Warburg Pincus, where he was responsible for evaluating potential investments and providing executive support to its portfolio companies. Previously, Mr. Plastina was executive chairman of Proxim, a provider of Wi-Fi and broadband wireless access products. During Mr. Plastina’s 15-year career at Nortel, he held a series of executive-level positions in the company’s Wireless, Internet Service Providers, Signaling Solutions, Mergers & Acquisitions and Finance Groups. Most recently, he was president of Nortel’s multi-billion dollar Metro and Enterprise Networks business unit, in which he led the successful development and marketing of the company’s VoIP products to service providers, enterprises and government entities.

Rich Schroder is based in Plano, Texas. He has worked as VP Access Business Unit at Dan Ericsson, Manager Product development at Unify, and Senior Director Switching Product Development at DSC Communications.

I am currently the CEO at iDirect, the market leading provider of global connectivity solutions in the satellite communications industry. Our solutions support the global telecommunication industry, service providers, and international government and defense organizations that leverage satellite connectivity. As an entrepreneur, I have also worked at early stage startups that were later acquired by Fortune 100 companies and also held senior leadership roles at those companies. While there are things that only experience can teach, I have proven my ability to be highly adaptable and a quick learner. I have been described as an ethical “street fighter”. I have been in a lot of tough situations throughout my life, and I have always risen to the occasion. I am highly competitive. At a young age I became a competitive swimmer and continued through college where I earned All-American honors. Swimming taught me the importance of goal setting and that hard work and dedication are essential to success. Swimming also gave me a way to constructively channel my intense competitiveness and the value of motivation. As an eternal optimist I thrive on motivating a team and rallying them behind a common goal.
