  • Software Engineer, AI Agents

    Asana 4.6company rating

    San Francisco, CA jobs

We're building AI Teammates: agents that work like actual users in Asana and integrated apps. They triage bugs, respond to requests, draft project briefs, conduct research, and handle knowledge work across your team's workflows. Unlike chatbots, Teammates are shared team resources that build memory and context across all executions. They get smarter as you and your colleagues work with them. You'll help build the Teammates platform and experience, currently in beta with Fortune 500 customers and launching to GA next year. This represents Asana's shift from tracking work to getting work done. You'll ship agentic workflows, evaluation systems, and product features using our custom TypeScript framework with frontier LLMs. We have close partnerships with OpenAI and Anthropic and move at the pace of the industry. The work adapts quickly as agent capabilities evolve. This role sits on the AI Teammates team, working closely with PM, Design, and Research to deliver high-impact features. This role is based in our San Francisco office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. If you're interviewing for this role, your recruiter will share more about the in-office requirements. What you'll build: The Teammates platform: agents that collaborate with users and each other across Asana and integrated apps Agentic workflows in production (function calling, multi-step planning, memory, orchestration) Evaluation harnesses, guardrails, and observability systems to improve reliability, safety, latency, and cost Integrations with connectors and grounding sources (e.g., calendar, docs, tickets, retrieval systems) A/B tests and experiments to measure user impact with cross-functional partners End-to-end instrumentation and debugging for agent systems at scale You'll also contribute to engineering excellence through code reviews, mentorship, and pragmatic technical design. What makes this challenging This work is horizontal. It touches every part of the Asana experience. You'll solve problems around performance and reliability at scale, multi-user collaboration with agents, and persistent memory systems. The industry is moving quickly, so your work will adapt with it. What we're looking for: Strong software engineering fundamentals including 4+ years of hands-on engineering experience. You've built reliable production systems and know how to operate them. Excitement about AI and agentic systems with capacity to learn quickly. Previous applied AI experience like RAG, search, or eval frameworks is a plus. Experience with or eagerness to develop skills in: agent/tool orchestration, evaluation frameworks, and production observability. Demonstrated curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision‑making. Customer‑oriented product mindset. Comfortable running experiments, making tradeoffs, and collaborating across engineering, PM, Design, and Research. Clear communication and effective collaboration. Comfort with ambiguity and rapid iteration. This work is at the bleeding edge and adapts as the industry evolves. Shipped agents in production are not required. We care more about your ability to build reliable systems and learn fast. What We'll Offer: Our comprehensive compensation package plays a big part in how we recognize you for the impact you have on our path to achieving our mission. We believe that compensation should be reflective of the value you create relative to the market value of your role. To ensure pay is fair and not impacted by biases, we're committed to looking at market value which is why we check ourselves and conduct a yearly pay equity audit. • Staff Software Engineer, Site Reliability

    Asana 4.6company rating

    San Francisco, CA jobs

Asana's rapid growth brings new challenges in keeping our systems fast, reliable, and resilient. As our product evolves, we're making a major investment in reliability - and building a brand new SRE team in Warsaw is a key part of that strategy. This is your chance to help shape it from day one. This isn't a traditional “ops” role - we're looking for strong software engineers who are passionate about building reliable, distributed systems. You'll work closely with a small SRE team in San Francisco, infrastructure engineers in Reykjavik, and an established infrastructure team in Warsaw. Warsaw will be a significant hub for our future infrastructure engineering and operations. As one of the first engineers here, you'll have a real say in how we build reliable infrastructure, manage incidents, and support the rest of the company. This role is based in our Warsaw office with an office‑centric hybrid schedule - in‑office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. We offer a Contract of Employment (UoP) for our employees in Poland. What you'll do: Influence the future of Asana's SRE practice, especially as we grow the Warsaw team. Lead reliability‑focused projects across our stack - from infrastructure to tooling to incident response. Define and implement Asana's incident management process - we're investing here, and you'll help shape how it works. Build internal platforms and frameworks that help other teams improve the reliability of their services. Be part of (and help shape) a sustainable on‑call rotation - shared across teams in Warsaw, San Francisco, and Reykjavik. On average, we handle ~1 page per day, but it's not constant, and we care about keeping things sane. Work with our stack: AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), Datadog, MySQL (RDS), ElasticSearch (OpenSearch), Redis, DynamoDB, Terraform, TypeScript, Scala, Go, and Python. (Yeah, we know this sounds like buzzword bingo - but we want this post to actually show up in your searches.) About you: You're a strong and experienced software engineer who's comfortable writing and reading code - this isn't an ops role. You care about reliability, scalability, and long‑term maintainability, not just quick fixes. You might have worked as an SRE before - or maybe you were a product engineer who kept getting pulled into infra work because you cared about how systems actually run. You've seen systems at scale (or want to), and you're excited about solving infrastructure problems that have broad impact. You're curious, take initiative, and aren't afraid to work in ambiguous spaces - especially important on a brand new team. You collaborate well across teams and want to help others build more reliable systems. You don't need to know our exact stack, but you're eager to learn whatever it takes to make things better. You demonstrate curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision‑making. Why this role? Founding team: You'll be one of the first SREs in Warsaw - and a key player in a growing team. Drive real change: This isn't a role where you'll just patch up legacy systems. We are expecting (and supporting) real architectural changes to improve reliability, scalability, and long‑term operability. Big impact: Our product is scaling fast, and reliability is a top company priority. Room to grow: As this team grows, so will your influence - whether you want to lead projects, mentor others, or help shape how we scale. Global collaboration: Work closely with experienced engineers in San Francisco, Reykjavik, and Warsaw, while helping build the future of SRE at Asana. What we offer: Generous, transparent and fair compensation system (base salary and generous Restricted Stock Unit for Asana Inc.). Contract of Employment (with 50% tax deductible costs for author's rights usage for Engineers). Health insurance with dental and travel coverage (Lux Med). Lunch catering on the days that you work from the office. Career growth budget. Home office setup budget. Gym/Fitness reimbursement. Fertility healthcare and family‑forming support with Carrot. Mental health support in Modern Health. Group life insurance. MacBooks with all necessary accessories. For this role, the estimated base salary range is between 23 000 and 33 000 PLN gross monthly on the contract of employment (UoP). The actual base salary will vary based on various factors and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base compensation range for this role may be modified. Our total compensation consists of base salary and equity (RSUs). About us Asana is a leading platform for human + AI collaboration. Millions of teams around the world rely on Asana to achieve their most important goals, faster. • Software Engineer (Product)

    Column 4.5company rating

    San Francisco, CA jobs

For companies building financial technology and transforming the financial services space, the biggest bottleneck to their growth and innovation is often the underlying banks and infrastructure stack they rely on. We have spent our careers founding and scaling companies like Plaid, Square, Meta, Blend, and Affirm, and have seen this problem firsthand - builders and developers needing to partner with traditional banks, and creating API and abstraction layers over the patchwork that is the bank, its core, and many other vendors. All of this results in a complex (and often expensive) banking supply chain involving a user, fintech, BaaS middleware provider, bank, core and the Federal Reserve. At Column, we set out to simplify and fix this. We are a bank and a software company built from the ground up, offering builders and developers technology-forward banking solutions that cut out the hundreds of vendors, middleware providers, and abstraction layers. This means a safer, more transparent, and less costly banking supply chain. Come build with us! The opportunity: Column is a developer-first bank, and this role sits at the heart of that mission. As a Product Engineer, you'll be responsible for building interfaces, APIs, and backend systems that power how customers interact with our platform. You'll write TypeScript and React for our dashboard, Go for our backend services, and report directly to our CEO and collaborate with our Head of design on product direction. This role isn't layered with PMs (we don't have any!) or long handoffs-you'll own the full lifecycle of your work, from spec through deployment, including meeting with customers to understand how your projects perform in production. Our team is lean, high-trust, and execution-focused, and this role comes with real autonomy and visibility. If you're excited by technical depth, product intuition, and building critical infrastructure from first principles, you'll thrive here. This role is San Francisco-based, and you'll be expected to work out of our (awesome) Presidio-based office 3+ days a week . Read more about Life @ Column and our hiring process here. What you'll do: Build and maintain key user-facing and internal features across our dashboard and core systems Write clean, testable TypeScript and Golang code Design and document APIs, then own their implementation and reliability Collaborate with engineering, compliance, business, and customers to iterate on product functionality Influence product direction by bringing user feedback directly into design decisions Take full ownership of projects, from idea to launch What you'll need to be successful: 5+ years of production software engineering experience Strong experience in TypeScript; React is a plus but not required Experience with a strongly typed backend language (Go, Rust, Java, etc.) and SQL Ability to work independently and drive product decisions end-to-end Willingness to engage directly with customers to gather feedback A high bar for quality, clarity, and performance in code What you'll get from us: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision plans, including options that are 100% covered by Column for you and 100% covered for your dependents! Comprehensive family planning and fertility benefits via partnership with Carrot, including reimbursement of up to $20,000 in qualified expenses FSA and HSA account options to enable use of pre-tax money for medical and dependent care expenses 401k plan, including self-directed brokerage options Flexible time-off policy - take the time off that you want and need to relax and recharge 100% paid parental leave, including 16 weeks for birth mothers, 12 weeks for primary caregivers, and 8 weeks for secondary caregivers ️Catered lunches and dinners for SF employees Commuter benefits Regular team building events, including annual offsite Pay transparency: Compensation packages at Column include base salary, equity, and benefits. New hire offers are made based on a candidate's experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity relative to peers. The annual US base salary range for this role is $150,000-$250,000 + equity. We look forward to hearing from you Column is committed to working with the best and brightest people from the broadest talent pool possible. We value bringing together a team with different perspectives, educational backgrounds, and life experiences, and believe a diversity of ideas is what allows us to develop the best solutions. All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply. If you need assistance or a reasonable accommodation during the application and recruiting process, please reach out to accommodations@column.com.
