Sports Internship Statistics in the US

The average employee age for sports interns is 39 years. The sports internship workforce reached a whopping 5,999 in 2020!

Among sports interns, we discovered that 32.3% of them are women, while 63.7% are men. The most common race/ethnicity among sports interns is White, which makes up 70.5% of all sports interns. Comparatively, there are 13.3% of the Hispanic or Latino ethnicity and 7.3% of the Black or African American ethnicity. Sports interns are also more likely to work at private companies in comparison to education companies. Taking it a step further, sports interns are more likely to find a job in the media industry.

From where do we know all information about sports internship demographics? We analyzed 4,834 sports interns resumes to find out what the average demographics are for the job position. Just to be clear, by demographics we mean the study of population-based factors like age, race, and sex. On top of scouring through resumes, we also took note of job proposals from employers and Census Bureau data. And guess what? We found some pretty interesting information.
