About the role

What you'll do
Conduct nutrition assessments for patients undergoing hormone, peptide, and GLP-1 based therapies
Create customized meal plans based on patient labs, body composition goals, fitness level, and medical history
Provide education on macronutrient cycling, metabolic flexibility, gut health, inflammation, and performance nutrition
Collaborate with providers to integrate nutrition into broader hormone and wellness protocols
Monitor patient progress and adjust plans accordingly during follow-up consultations
Offer lifestyle coaching on sleep, hydration, nutrient timing, and supplement strategies
Stay current on the latest in sports nutrition, metabolic health, peptides, and functional medicine
Optional: Contribute to patient education materials, blog posts, or wellness classes
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field (Master's preferred)
Registered Dietitian (RD) credential or board certification in Sports Nutrition (CSSD or similar)
Strong interest or experience in hormone optimization, sports nutrition, peptide therapy, and weight loss medicine
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Comfortable using EMR and telehealth platforms
Passion for personalized, root-cause, and performance-driven care
Preferred Expereience

WIC Senior Nutritionist
STATUS: Non-Exempt
SUPERVISOR: WIC Program Director
The Senior Nutritionist is a member of the WIC program management team responsible for the administration and management of all nutrition services and health care aspects of the program. The Senior Nutritionist also assumes the role of Breastfeeding Coordinator and manages the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor program.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, supervises, and evaluates the nutrition component of the program to ensure compliance with federal regulations and state policies, including all procedures for:
Determination of nutritional risk.
Nutrition and breastfeeding counseling and education.
Nutrition appointment schedule (certification and follow-up).
Follow-up nutrition education.
Food package prescriptions.
Health and social service referrals.
Nutrition care plans.
Documentation of nutrition services
2. Develops local program nutrition procedures based on state WIC policies, procedures, and guidelines.
3. Recruits, hires (with program director), trains (with The Learning Center), and provides ongoing supervision for program nutritionists and nutrition assistants. Evaluates performance and recommends compensation, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
4. Defines (with the program director) staff responsibilities, work schedules, participant service hours, and participant flow.
5. Supervises nutrition assistant staff completing required activities to obtain CPA I and II status, within established times.
6. Ensures that nutrition staff have up-to-date knowledge and skills by ensuring nutrition staff obtain 10 CEU credits annually.
7. Plans staffing, participant service hours, participant flow, and staff roles and responsibilities to provide services according to federal regulations and
state policies, in coordination with the program director, and assists in planning certification appointment/schedule.
8. Establishes schedules for follow-up nutrition education (individual and group).
9. Plans, develops, reviews, monitors, and evaluates delivery of nutrition education; implementing new strategies to enhance services.
10. Oversees the planning, provision and evaluation of nutrition education associated with Farmers' Market.
11. Acts as nutrition liaison between state agency and local program, and between local program and health care community.
12. Supervises the WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselors and takes part in the development, implementation and evaluation of breastfeeding promotion
and support activities.
13. Works with the program director and community coordinator to develop outreach and referral networks, and provide training, as needed, to community
agencies and health care providers.
14. Regularly visits and communicates with healthcare providers.
15. Required to travel regularly throughout the WIC Service area, to all Community Action Pioneer Valley WIC sites and service locations, and
occasionally out of the service area.
16. Maintain strictest confidentiality.

19. Attend WIC Nutritionist Work Group and Business meetings and other required meetings at The Learning Center.

Overview

MAJOR DUTIES
Provides nutritional instructions to patients 65+ living with hypertension, diabetes and/or obesity.
Disseminates Unity-CAFB designed toolkit that promotes health education around healthy foods etc.,
Provides nutrition-based patient health education on tailored food prescription to address the patient's medical and nutritional needs, taking into consideration food preferences and cultural background.
Develops nutritional care plans for designated high-risk individuals and provides follow-up instructions, as required, to assure that the health and nutritional needs of the clients are adequately addressed.
Coordinates nutritional care with other health care members in order to ensure comprehensive medical and social services for clients, including referrals for related services, such as Food Stamps, Medicaid benefits, as required.
Keeps abreast of current research findings in nutrition health education and related nutritional needs to assure that appropriate and up to date intervention strategies are provided to participants.
Reviews patient's medical records for medical history, laboratory results in order to provide nutritional instructions and develop an appropriate and feasible meal plan.

The Clinical Nutrition Specialist II provides high quality, comprehensive nutrition care to a defined patient population of higher acuity patients in an efficient, timely and caring manner. Staff responsibilities include nutrition assessment of patients at nutritional risk; development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the nutrition care plan; nutrition education of patients and families with consideration for individual needs; timely follow-up/communication with the medical provider. The Clinical Nutrition Specialist II is also involved with educating students, hospital staff and community partners as well as participates in continuous quality improvement efforts and research projects. Promotion to the Clinical Nutrition Specialist II is determined by the Nutrition Leadership Team after an RD has achieved 3 years of experience.

Attained a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from a U.S. regionally accredited university or college and completed a program consistent with the academic standards for dietitians established by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

The Senior Nutritionist is a member of the WIC program management team responsible for the administration and management of all nutrition services and health care aspects of the program. The Senior Nutritionist also assumes the role of Breastfeeding Coordinator and manages the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor program.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, supervises, and evaluates the nutrition component of the program to ensure compliance with federal regulations and state policies, including all procedures for:
Determination of nutritional risk.
Nutrition and breastfeeding counseling and education.
Nutrition appointment schedule (certification and follow-up).
Follow-up nutrition education.
Food package prescriptions.
Health and social service referrals.
Nutrition care plans.

2. Develops local program nutrition procedures based on state WIC policies, procedures, and guidelines.
3. Recruits, hires (with program director), trains (with The Learning Center), and provides ongoing supervision for program nutritionists and nutrition assistants. Evaluates performance and recommends compensation, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
4. Defines (with the program director) staff responsibilities, work schedules, participant service hours, and participant flow.
5. Supervises nutrition assistant staff completing required activities to obtain CPA I and II status, within established times.
6. Ensures that nutrition staff have up-to-date knowledge and skills by ensuring nutrition staff obtain 10 CEU credits annually.
7. Plans staffing, participant service hours, participant flow, and staff roles and responsibilities to provide services according to federal regulations and
state policies, in coordination with the program director, and assists in planning certification appointment/schedule.
8. Establishes schedules for follow-up nutrition education (individual and group).
9. Plans, develops, reviews, monitors, and evaluates delivery of nutrition education; implementing new strategies to enhance services.
10. Oversees the planning, provision and evaluation of nutrition education associated with Farmers' Market.
11. Acts as nutrition liaison between state agency and local program, and between local program and health care community.
12. Supervises the WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselors and takes part in the development, implementation and evaluation of breastfeeding promotion
and support activities.
13. Works with the program director and community coordinator to develop outreach and referral networks, and provide training, as needed, to community
agencies and health care providers.
14. Regularly visits and communicates with healthcare providers.
15. Required to travel regularly throughout the WIC Service area, to all Community Action Pioneer Valley WIC sites and service locations, and
occasionally out of the service area.
16. Maintain strictest confidentiality.

Coordinates nutritional care with other health care members in order to ensure comprehensive medical and social services for clients, including referrals for related services, such as Food Stamps, Medicaid benefits, as required.
