Job Summary
The Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services is actively seeking qualified individuals for a full-time position as a Horticulture Technician. This role primarily involves carrying out specialized horticultural duties at municipal facilities throughout the county, both independently and as part of a team. Key responsibilities include the application of herbicides and pesticides, as well as pruning, installing, and maintaining high-value plantings. Job Summary
The SprayTechnician is responsible for applying pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers to maintain and enhance the health and appearance of the golf course. Day to Day
• Apply chemicals accurately, keep records of applications, and obtain and maintain a state pesticide license.
• Water and fertilize putting greens, tees, fairways, and roughs according to instructions.
• Operate powered equipment for mowing various areas of the golf course, including greens, slopes, collars, roughs, aprons, and tees, etc. using the appropriate pieces of equipment.
• Operate light equipment for hauling materials and removing debris.
• Perform daily checklists on all equipment use and ensure that equipment is washed, fueled, (if applicable), and returned to proper storage areas.
• Maintain equipment and tools, keeping them organized, clean, and in good working conditions.
• Grade and prepare soil plant beds, lay sod, plant vegetative material, and seed putting greens, tees, fairways, and roughs.

Required Qualifications / Attributes
Must obtain a VDACS Registered Technician certificate within 30 days of date of hire. Training provided and fees paid by Virginia Green.
Be able to navigate a truck and trailer
Must be available to work from August to end of October
Be able to work between the hours of 6:30 am- 5:30 pm (or until the job is finished)
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Operate company vehicle in compliance with federal, state, local laws, and company policy. Maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record. Follow proper safety protocols while working with equipment. Driving record must pass insurability test
