Job Description:
Ability to operate assigned route(s) independently on a relief basis. Relief being a on-call and or substitute position. Maintain a clean vehicle. Perform a pre-trip inspection. Transport wheelchair passengers - bending, kneeling, twisting involved and ability to pump lift manually. Identify and resolve problems. Must be able to evacuate bus if needed; by dragging or physically assisting passengers off the bus. Assist in getting vehicles to repair shops. Adhere to bus route and schedule - Able to drive a minimum of 3 hours without a break and drive a split shift. Maintain a valid driver's license.
Duties include but not limited to:
Maintain a valid DOT card.
Transport wheelchairs.
Work independently.
Complete all paperwork.

Responsible for learning route(s) and being able to drive independently.
Get the supervisor's approval for a temporary change to vehicle stops, times and locations.
Notify Spring Dell Center or supervisor if a route is more than 15 minutes behind schedule.

Give passengers your name and phone numbers, and that of your sub-driver.
Drive established a route to transport passengers with developmental disabilities ensuring the safety of all passengers and obeying all traffic.
Operate vehicle in a safe and legal manner according to Maryland State laws or whatever state you may be in, driving.
Report to your supervisor or the Director of Transportation, within 1 business day, any traffic violations you receive. (Failure to disclose could be cause for termination).
Responsible for safety on the vehicle; passengers seat belted in, wheelchairs secured properly (with brakes, tie-downs, and lap belts).
Maintaining and completing correct forms in paperwork folders (Passenger Fact Sheets and Photos, Pre-trip, Mileage, Fuel, Accident, Work Orders, Incident and Injury reports).
Responsible for notifying the supervisor or any malfunction immediately in writing and deliver the vehicle for service as directed.
Responsible for checking and maintaining the contents of the first aid kit, triangle box, and emergency bag.
Obtain fuel for the vehicle at Charles County Public Facilities, unless otherwise directed.
In case of an accident or an emergency situation, report by phone as soon as possible to SDC.
Minimum Requirements:

In this senior position, he/she/they will be responsible for high-level business planning, project management, and analytical support for key strategic initiatives of the organization. He/she/they will manage the research, design, development, implementation, assessment and analysis of diverse projects and initiatives with a focus on advancing the mission of Spring Dell Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. This position oversees the planning, implementation, and management of all programmatic services, ensuring they align with the organization's mission of promoting full community inclusion. The Deputy Executive Director reports to and will work closely with the Executive Director and other members of the Leadership Team to develop strategies, manage resources, and foster a culture of continuous improvement across all program areas.
Key Responsibilities:
● Program Management:
Provide continuous organizational focus while overseeing the design, implementation, and evaluation of all programs to ensure they meet the needs of those supported and align with the organization's mission and strategic goals.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as accreditation standards.
Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring effective allocation and utilization of resources to include grants.
Prioritize strategic initiatives in collaboration with other members of the Leadership Team, focusing on comprehensive business planning, feasibility, and enhancement of service delivery to people with developmental disabilities and their families.
Participate in advocacy efforts to influence public policy on local, state, and national level.

Represent the organization at community events, meetings, and on committees as needed.

● Quality Assurance:

Qualifications:
● Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in social work, Psychology, Human Services, Special Education, Nonprofit Management, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
Minimum of 7-10 years of related leadership roles and experience in program management within a nonprofit or human services organization, including experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and supervising staff.
Participation on Maryland State level task force committees, boards and/or committee representation for the field of developmental disabilities or other like human service areas preferred.
Knowledge of state legislative process and advocacy, including providing testimony and building relationships with local legislators
● Skills and Competencies:
Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple programs and projects simultaneously.
Advanced communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.

We are very excited about this new program because we know there are many excellent opportunities for Volunteers with our agency. Here are just a few examples:
In The Day Program:
Assisting at lunch time
Assist with Planning & Participate in Crafts/Activities/Outings
Provide specific assistance to Individuals based on interest
In Our Administrative Offices:
Filing & Answering Phones
Clerical task
With Transportation (Buses & Vans):
Help with Loading & Unloading of the Buses/Individuals
Take Individuals to Appointments or to run errands
Take Vehicles to get Inspections performed or for gas (as needed)
Clean the Vehicles (washing, vacuuming, detailing, etc.…)
With Residential Services:
Assist Individuals with general house duties
Take Individuals on “outings” (Church, Movies, Games, etc.…)
Help assist with planning & performing crafts/activities
Assist with Yard Work
Assist with transportation needs (Doctors, Day Programs, etc.…)
Spend time interacting w/ Individuals (One-on-One or Group Home)
Special Functions/Fundraisers:
Help with mailers
Help with securing donations
Make monetary donations
Get involved to see what your interest with a particular function may be
In the Retail Stores:
Sorting Donations (clothing, house wares, jewelry, linens, etc.…)
Pricing and Hanging Items
Decorating Displays/Windows
Customer Service/Sales
Straightening and Sizing
Designs for advertising
Testing electronics
Organizing books
