Job Description

  • Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance of fire sprinkler systems with minimal supervision
  • This role requires regular face-to-face interaction with customers in various locations such hospitals, nursing homes, k-12 education, colleges, restaurants, military installations, government buildings, commercial buildings and multi-family residential properties. Contact with members of the public may also occur with varying frequency depending on the type of facility where inspections are performed.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills required to work with customers, technicians, sales personnel, and managers.
  • Work independently, as well as, with other team members.
  • Diagnose and evaluate systems that require servicing as well as troubleshoot issues that arise during inspections
  • Properly document all inspections and other information needed to perform repairs
  • Provide detailed reports and recommended corrective actions to the customer
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain any applicable state licenses.
  • Work includes climbing ladders, climbing stairs, lifting at least 50lbs, walking long distances to reach all areas of buildings where inspections must be performed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven record of providing excellent customer service and care
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Pass a drug Test
  • Pass a background check
  • Must possess the following certification plus have sufficient knowledge & experience:

What you will do:
Perform inspection, testing and maintenance/repair of Wet, Dry, Pre-Action and Deluge Sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA and State of Department of Health. Candidate should have the ability to accurately discern, and document deficiencies found during an inspection.

Knowledge of fire pumps, backflows and standpipes is a plus. Attention to detail with the ability to communicate with employees, employers, customers, and authorities having jurisdiction both written and verbally is desired.

  • NICET Level II certification.
  • Three years field experience with Wet, Dry, Pre-Action and Deluge Sprinkler systems.
  • Functional knowledge of Wet and Dry Sprinkler Systems.
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.
  • Ability to stand or climb stairs and ladders for a long period of time.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of forty (40) pounds without assistance.
  • Excellent "Customer Service Skills".
  • Good written and oral communication skills and good organizational skills.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment security, drug and background check.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Life Safety Inspector

The Life Safety Inspector is responsible for testing and inspection of fire and life safety systems including, but not limited to, fire alarm, fire sprinkler, fire extinguishers, backflow preventers and special hazards fire protection systems. The Inspector will provide accurate and detailed inspections reports with all proper documentation of improvements and complications and assist in selling IFP services for any identified deficiencies.

Job Responsibilities

+ Ensure customers are serviced at the highest level of satisfaction through quality courteous service, and by applying experience, knowledge and training.

+ Thoroughly complete inspections in timely manner as scheduled and interface with Inspection Coordinator to ensure that the customer receives the work per proposed scope.

+ Utilizes an online scheduling calendar to receive and understand the individual scheduled tasks, customer locations, and maintain other company documents as required (timesheets, safety audits, etc).

+ Maintain positive customer relationships and review inspection results with customer.

+ Turn in required paperwork in a timely manner.

+ Maintain equipment, supplies and company vehicle (if supplied) in good working order.

+ Study and learn NFPA standards for the inspection and testing of fire protection systems. Stay current with code requirements, industry changes, and obtain NICET certifications.

+ Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

+ Good verbal / written communication & customer service skills

+ Mechanical & math aptitude

+ Valid state drivers license

+ High school diploma or equivalent required

+ Any trade experience preferred; at least 2 years' trade experience a plus

+ May need to lift objects up to 50 pounds

+ Ability to be on the phone and computer consistently throughout the day
