Doctor B.S. Rao and wife Doctor Jhansi Lakshmi Bai, graduates of Guntur Medical College, practiced medicine in the UK and Iran (1974-86) prior to returning to India after 12 years abroad.
Sri Chaitanya first surfaced on the academic horizon in the year 1986 and within a span of 25 years went on to become Asia's largest educational group.
In 2006, the institution opened IIT-JEE / AIEEE / PMT Coaching Centres at Mandi-Himachal Pradesh, Ranchi and Bokaro – Jarkhand and Indore Madhya Pradesh.
Further, in 2019, over 10 lakh students appeared in April session, and 10,19,855 students attempted the January session.
Reportedly, over 2.5 million students appeared for the entrance exams in 2020, including JEE Main, JEE Advanced, NEET etc.
Similarly in the NEET 2021 examination, 9 of the Top 20 and 23 of the Top 100 were from SCGI.
