Job Summary: The Pathologists' Assistant (PA) acts as a provider of anatomic pathology services and has specialized knowledge which includes describing, dissecting, and submitting samples of human surgical and autopsy specimens for review and diagnosis by a pathologist. The PA-Academic is the main resource for pathology residents' training in the grossing laboratory as well as the autopsy suite. It is also the role of the PA-Academic to continuously interact, assist, and consult with the faculty and staff pathologists to provide support to their roles as diagnosticians. Job Responsibilities and Requirements: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Educates pathology residents in the grossing laboratory, autopsy suite, and other areas as required. Maintains specimen identification integrity at all times. Performs gross examination and dictation of surgical and autopsy specimens.
