Serves as a resource to other healthcare professionals including pharmacy students and residents and ensures that patient care meets standards of safety and effectiveness. Oversees the duties of the pharmacy technicians and interns. **Job Responsibilities and Requirements:** PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES + Ensures safety and appropriateness of medication therapy through order verification, dispensing, home medication reconciliation, chart review, patient counseling, lab value monitoring and dose/therapy adjustment as applicable. Documents medication related plans and interventions in electronic medical record. + Provides clinical consultation delivering best-practice, evidence-based and complete information to practitioners. Makes recommendations and encourages safe and cost-effective pharmacotherapy for patients through multi-disciplinary collaboration. + Oversees the medication dispensing process to ensure accurate and timely delivery of optimal pharmacotherapy to patients. This includes supervision of pharmacy technicians and/or interns who support the role of the pharmacist in the drug delivery system. + Precept pharmacy students and residents, as applicable. + Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. + Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION + Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D; Bachelor of Pharmacy) from accredited school of pharmacy EXPERIENCE + No experience required PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS + Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. + Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. + Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. + Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. It offers 24-hour emergency services and has partnered with St. Louis Children's Hospital to provide world-class pediatric emergency care. Progress West Hospital also provides surgical services, endoscopy services, a cardiac catheterization lab, medical/surgical inpatient services, diagnostic imaging, lab services, and the Advanced Wound Center, a specialty wound treatment facility with state-of-the-art equipment. Progress West Hospital recently completed an expansion of its Childbirth Center to include enhanced services for at-risk mothers and babies, with a newborn ICU that provides care for babies born as early as 32 weeks.
